  2. Hi everyone, The next game update will feature a wide list of changes for PvP players. This will include a general balancing patch, refinement of most PvP systems in the game, and refinement of management tasks like move tutoring. ==== Automated PVP Updates Matchmaking will see a suite of changes, including updated reward structures, a seasonal based matchmaking ELO system, and features to encourage more tier participation. For reward structures, we have shifted the BP-based rewards to a streak-based approach. Over the years, we've been hesitant to include an automated Forfeit function in structured PvP due to the potential of encouraging poor quality matches where people forfeit while a match is still winnable. To counter this, players are now more encouraged to stay in a match at risk of losing their streak bonus, and additional bonuses are given if you're fighting an especially well ranked player. Matchmaking ELO decay has been another problem which we let stagnate over the years, which will be resolved by a season system for ELO. Seasons will last 3 months (the first season after the update's deployment will be slightly shorter due to updating in the middle of a season) and will perform a hard reset of ELO once over. Each Season will be capped off by an automated tournament exclusive to the top players of each tier's leaderboard, winners of which will receive exclusive items. To encourage UU/NU tier participation, we've introduced exclusive rewards for all tiers. Players may now also queue for multiple tiers in Matchmaking simultaneously, with a battle box assigned to each tier. Automated Tournaments have seen some attention. Tournament rewards will be more versatile in their choices, allowing for Gender selection & selectable IVs with any value (0~31). PokeMMO's Game Masters may also choose to give stacks of items, vanity items, or BP in future tournaments too. (Note that these changes only apply to future tournaments, not ones which have already been scheduled, or rewards which have been already mailed to players). On the small side, players will now be able to spectate others while queueing for matchmaking & tournaments with no fear of missing their queue. We'll now automatically shift from Spectate mode to Battle mode when a match is found. Battle Boxes are now also less terrible to manage, and can be assigned and changed more easily in the PC UI. ==== Generation 8 Updates With the introduction of Gen 8, many moves have had updated functionality increasing their versatility. Move changes will be included where applicable (Teleport, Rapid Spin, Healing Wish, Fling, and Howl), as well as ability changes (Intimidate, Moody) and egg group updates for a few species trees. This changeset also introduces Gens 1 & 2 TM moves to the relevant species, and Gen 7 changes which we'd omitted until now, including Gen7-3 (LGPE) movepools and missing mechanical changes to Gengar's ability, and the Prankster ability. Movepools for all species have been updated in some way or another, and the changes are far too numerous to note. In general, Gen 8 has priority over all other changes, then additional moves are processed from there. ==== Movepool Management Updates Those knowledgeable with earlier Gens & Gen 8 will notice that we are introducing a slew of new TMs- over 100, actually. This large bulk of items necessitated that we look at how we can better the move learning systems, and we've focused on streamlining the gain of renewable moves. Each region will now host an NPC in every healing center you come across, which will offer to teach you all of the Tutor moves that a region can offer, if you've acquired 8 badges in that region. 4 Shard-based "Regional Move Master" tutors are present in the game, 1 for each region, allowing you to learn regional-exclusive moves for a Shard+Item-based feed. Each of them is also accompanied by a Move Deleter & Relearner NPC. Prices for Relearners will also now more properly reflect the value of the move being relearned. All regions now have a store which will sell every TM in the game in their respective department stores, after you've completed its storyline. Redundant tutor data for all tutors has been removed, meaning no more TM / Tutor overlap. For GBA areas, NPCs with single-move move tutor scripts (e.g. Dream Eater) will now simply give untradeable TMs. Older Shard tutors have been removed entirely, and their moves redistributed as either TMs or into the newer Shard tutors. Overall, we feel it should be much easier to keep track of and learn. ==== This overview is not comprehensive, but covers the most important things we'll be changing this update. We're currently finalizing everything and expect to release it in early July. We hope you'll enjoy. Thanks for reading

  3. First of all, I'm happy for the improvemets we'll be getting into the PVP and Matchmaking area. Now getting into the discussion points: Tournament rewards will be more versatile in their choices, allowing for Gender selection & selectable IVs with any value (0~31): The best way to improve this is to let us lock 2x31 while allowing to select a value (0-25) for the remaining ivs. Tournaments: I think tournaments must remain just as they are right now. It's obv not allowing spectators will kill the hype. In my opinion, Shuffle brackets would only work if each round starts at specific time and that would make tours even longer, wich is a big no. I'm not against scouting/cteaming since cteaming your opp doesn't mean you will win. He can just switch his team, play better than you, etc. Restricting one team per player is just bad. Just as mkns said, if I invested a ton of hours to have a ton of comps, I should be allowed to use them and take adventaje of the time I invested on this game. Gengar: I really think levitate should remain as his ability until we get everything(or at least fairy/steel mechanics + mons from newer gens) updated. His fight/ground immunity is a big thing to the current OU and even doubles meta. Not having levitate will make it much less usable and will also limit teambuilding so hard. I wont go into details here because it's obv nothing can replace gengar due to its versatility/type/ab/speed. Even if he gets NP or not, the cons will be much bigger. I also liked this idea.

  4. This would only be required if seeking perfect randomness, which my implementation did not. Sufficient randomness is achieved by queueing players after winning, then pairing random players from that queue while a minimum player count remains in the queue. Minimum player counts are derived based on the round's match states, which has the drawback that, the further the round proceeds, the more predictable your opponent becomes. This has a minor drawback of causing players who completed early to wait a few minutes longer before further rounds, but does not increase total tournament time. Scouting is not a solvable problem in our game, which is why I did not seek perfect randomness for my round shuffling impl. As you mentioned, perfectly anonymizing tournament participants is required to resolve it, and we're not willing to sacrifice the social experience for that. It should be noted that round shuffling is only effective while the player group is too large to be documented by spectators. If a large group of players coordinated simultaneously to document everyone's party, a reasonable prediction of playstyles and parties could be created in real time. The best way to handle scouting from a player perspective is to build more teams and play a variety of styles, and work with other players to borrow items to give yourselves more possible variety. The lack of the ability to develop teams in secrecy is an interesting oversight, and we may consider an option to suppress Spectatorship for direct duels between Friends/Guildmates. You are only gaining new options. All new TMs/TRs were implemented as standard TMs.

  10. The solution to the whole cteaming / scouting thing should be to make breeding / acquiring yen easier so that people can build enough teams to properly compete in an event without having to resort to endless hours of grinding / using a credit card to buy RP. Every time I have an idea or a cool set I want to try out, I first hesitate because I don't want it to become a waste of time + $$$. Sometimes I have to breed two separate mons of the same species with the only difference between the two being one move, and if ThinkNice's 5-slot movesystem was implemented (the system allows your mon to have 5 moves, but only 4 can be used in battle, and you'd have to toggle between the 4th move), it would've saved me a lot of money. A 5x31 comp costs roughly 700k to make, and when you add movesetting + pp maxing + ability pills, it comes out to about 900k or more. I earn maybe 200k through a gym run with amulet coin, and it's something I can do once per 20 hours. Which means I need to repeat the process at least five times just to be able to breed one comp mon. If I spend real 30$ to obtain 2.5k RP, I can get like around 4m in an instant, and I can see why people would rather go down this route rather than spending 20 hours to torture themselves. When the situation of the game is such that paying real-life money or scamming newer players of their rare shiny is so much more profitable and better than actually grinding, it is a real problem. I only used the gym leader example as a means of making money because I think it's the best way of making money, but let me know if I am wrong. With the arrival of new movesets to mons, I can already see myself having wasted money on certain movesets, breeds, and pp maxes on a few mons. EDIT: Sorry LifeStyle, saw your post a bit late.

  11. Yo guys so I created a video on how to make a 2x31 3x25+ breed. Please check out the video description for more in dept explanation! There is a part in the video where I didnt explain what to do to get the Dratini, so PLEASE check out the description! I also spend 200-250k on this breed alone, the price may vary depending on what you breed. Furthermore, I used magikarps in the video as I am familiar with prices and had worked with them before I hope it helps people out, and I am sorry if breeding services are not as profitable.

  12. This gengar theme has been created since Gengar will lose his "levitation" ability this was very good in pvp with his ability and I have made this. Theme to remember him. Este tema de Gengar ha sido creado ya que Gengar perderá su habilidad de "levitación", esto fue muy bueno en pvp con su habilidad y lo he hecho. Tema para recordarlo.

  13. So first of all, I'd like to thank @Kyu for posting this Blog and giving the competitive players some much needed transparency about the current state of PvP development. I read through it and personally I'm looking forward to these changes, although it left me with some unanswered questions. The purpose of this thread is to ask questions related to this Blog and not stuff unrelated to it (no Hidden Abilities, no Legendaries, etc.), so please refrain from doing so. Hopefully Kyu will answer some of them. Onto my questions: - There's no mention of adding LC or Doubles to Matchmaking. Will these never be added at all, or do you just want to see what this update does for NU/UU activity first? - "Tournament rewards will be more versatile in their choices, allowing for Gender selection & selectable IVs with any value (0~31)" - Does this mean people can get full 31 IV shinies? Or is the base still 2x31 4x25 and it just let us go down from those? - "missing mechanical changes to Gengar's ability" - So will Gengar lose Levitate and gain Curse Body as its only usable ability? - "regional-exclusive moves for a Shard+Item-based feed." - Are these items the same ones for old tutors like Black Belt, Magnet, Twistedspoon, Hard Stone, etc.? - Will each Pokemon be getting EVERY move they can learn in Gen8? Or will you be ommiting some things such as Nasty Plot on Hydreigon? If not, then will Hydreigon get Draco Meteor?

  15. As you say, is bad. You won't win a tour relying on it. But think about this for a second. You signup in a tour, after some training, you spent a few mill in a new team, you cleared your schedule so you can play without interruptions... And then you lose r1 because a random has brought kings rock on a mon and flinches you in an impactful turn. Obviously that random will get smashed in later rounds. What did you acomplish there having such items? A waste of time and resources.

  20. I think perhaps, if this where to be added as an option, a sub menu under 'vanity items' which would allow you to select all vanity flags to search under (Extra animated, colourable, time limited, event etc.) would be the better approach

  21. 3v3 back to 2013, just no. But seriously, imagine everyone spamming stall due uncertainty, that would be boring af, also nobody is gonna throw a gimmick into a blind matchup, instead they will go for the safe way, which are always the over used sttuf, for logic reasons. No scout just closes the windows for creativity.

  22. Why scouting and counterbuild is a probleme ? Playing a tournament with only one team has no sens, If you have comp you can change your team whenever you want, if someone try to counterbuild you, you can just change your team and the probleme is solved. Having a lot of comps should be an avantage in this game. Since we need to farm money to breed. Imagine I breed a lot of comps to use only 6 of them.

    Simple Breeding Guide

Hi ! Do you want to get 5x31 pokemon with the correct nature and breed it by yourself? I'll show you the method simply here. Let's go! Before we start, there is something you need to know about pokemon. 1.Egg Groups Under normal circumstances, two pokemon can be bred as long as they are in the same egg group. The offspring would be the same as the female one. Though most pokemon follows the rules above, there still some exceptions. ●Genderless: Genderless pokemon can only be bred with the same variety or Ditto. ●Ditto: Ditto can be bred with all pokemon except for itself and the Undiscovered. ●Undiscovered: Undiscovered pokemon cannot be bred with anyone, but some of them would change their egg group after the evolution. 2.Individual values(IVs) & Nature Nature:The nature generates randomly. IVs:The value of the IVs of the offspring would between its parents' IVs, just like the picture below. Though the nature and IVs are generate randomly under normal circumstances, there are some items that can help you to control them. ●Power item(Weight, Bracer, Belt, Lens, Band, Anklet): Each power item can be used to control the specific category of IVs. ●Everstone: The nature of the offspring will be the same as the parent who brings an everstone. 3.Egg moves There are some moves that pokemon may learn from breeding. Example:Xatu can learn Quick Attack from breeding. By the way, Particle Effect can also be inherited to the offspring from its parents. 4.Breeding Now, let's start breeding! Simply speaking... 1x31+1x31->2x31 2x31+2x31->3x31 3x31+3x31->4x31 4x31+4x31->5x31 Take the picture below for example, you will get a 2x31 pokemon. ●Gender choosing Watch out! Remember to choose the gender correctly, or the offspring might have a gender that you don't want! Since choosing gender only cost a little, don't ignore it ~ price: Male:Female -> choosing male:choosing female 1:1 -> 5000:5000 1:3 -> 9000:5000 1:7 -> 21000:5000 3:1 -> 21000:9000 7:1 -> 5000:21000 What about 3x31 pokemon? Since we can only control 2 category of IVs, we can control others like this. ※The parents' IVs of sp.atk are 31, so the IV of sp.atk of the offspring will be absolutely 31. With the method above, we can also get 4x31 pokemon, and then a 5x31 pokemon. But what about the nature? Sadly, we can't control the nature while breeding for a 5x31 pokemon. If the 5x31 pokemon's nature is correct, you are so lucky! But if not, we need to breed for a 4x31 pokemon with correct nature. Just like this: Let the pokemon with correct nature take an everstone and continue breeding. After you got a 4x31 pokemon with correct nature, let it be bred with the 5x31 pokemon, and you'll got a 5x31 pokemon with correct nature. The complete mind map is here. 5x31 pokemon + 4x31 pokemon with correct nature -> 5x31 pokemon with correct nature Here it is now~ Others for breeding: OT&OT*: The egg is OT only if the parent that's same species as the egg is OT, otherwise egg is OT*. Price: Price for a 5x31 pokemon with correct nature (suppose gender choosing cost $5000): Power item x55 + pokeball x30 + gender choosing x19 + the cost for pokemon X =550000+6000+95000+X =651000+X This is the end of this guide. Since English is not my mother tongue, please remind me if there is anything wrong. Thanks for visiting.

  29. Extremely bulky, will stay for a long time + has great support moves. Just for that is worth C or even B-. Taunt kinda shuts it down, but that doesnt mean is useless. Also is not passive, you are kinda biased comparing it to things like reuniclus. They dont serve the same purpose. 105 Base speed with fake out + feint access, REGENERATOR, enough stats to be run mixed and 0hko a good chunk of the top meta a D tier? are we insane? Infernape might be better, but that doesnt mean is a bad mon ... just no. "struggles a lot against follow me". It only struggles against blastoise, is an amazing mon against togekiss/amoongus/electabuzz/lucario. Also rotom is not a valid reason to put it lower. A mon that when scarfed, could literally sweep your entire team if it has enough support. I see Scrafty's intimidate is much better than moxie in doubles. Cheking ur "read machamp": " Doesn't really do much that top/breloom/conk don't do better. " You are comparing a C tier mon to what it should be a Top S/A+. That's just stupid. Is in C tier for reasons. Also it does a better job than breloom/conkeldurr in many cases, they dont serve the same purpose. Won't talk about other mons coz I don't like them either, but still think they deserve C tier. Quoting the C tier description " (Reserved for Pokemon that are mediocre in the Doubles metagame, but have just as many notable flaws that prevent them from being effective. Pokemon in the C tier often require significant support to be effective. Pokemon from this rank tend to face a lot of competition with the more commonly used Pokemon. These Pokemon exert a below average presence in the metagame.)" and now D tier description " (Reserved for pokemon which only carry out a very limited function and are easily outclassed by other Pokemon in higher rankings)" how could you say all of those mons deserve to be in D tier? literally all of those can do an outstanding job with the correct team; furthermore they can be used in multiple teams, not just 1 gimmick 1 trick team.

  40. That would still be exploitable, say you and one other player just so happened to be shuffled together for round 2 and you both finished round 1 before everyone else, you would know who you are paired up with when the timer starts ticking to ready up. If you have not paired with someone then you simply wait for a match to end, if your timer starts then you scout that guy that recently won.

This would some what buff hydreigon so maybe update some existing pokemon with their fairy typing or so? (Clefable may become a beast~)
