  1. Yesterday I went to Lost Cave in the morning to check out what kind of hordes appear there, and in what ratio Murkrows are appearing. So according to my experience, you have to use 10 Leppas in order to get two hordes of Murkrow, one of which containing a shiny. #SRIF Omg I have been so incredibly lucky.

  3. I caught a couple of shiny pokemon over the past few days, just been too lazy to post them. The first was a shiny ponyta, I caught 4 days ago, it took me 8923 encounters, no donator only +5% from a shiny charm Shameless plug, I caught this one on my livestream and here is a clip of me catching it on the first premier ball, full hp no sleep. https://clips.twitch.tv/LivelyRealNightingaleCoolStoryBro The 2nd is a shiny Golbat I got last night, which took me 7,072 encounters, no donator on, only +5% from a shiny charm. shiny rate is fair.

    [PvP] Locked in team

This might be a bit of a controversial suggestion. But I want to suggest the staff that host tournaments to consider using a 'lock in' of some sort for tournies. Basically it means that players cannot change their teams from the initial team that they signed up with. Why would you want that? That makes scouting a huge issue. Well, scouting already is a huge issue. So this actually levels the playing field. Consider it like this, in tournaments I have to consider the possibility that my team has been scouted. But I'm not sure to what extend. I can't be sure that my opponent will make plays based on scouted information. Therefore I never have a clear idea of what to expect. This, in my opinion, is not competitive. If, however, teams are locked in from the start. I can be sure that everyone will scout their opponents. I will do the same. Our level of information is the same, so the battle becomes more competitive as a result. What I'm suggesting isn't an uncommon thing. It's used in VGC and smogon tournaments and I like that it enables a higher level of thinking (my opponent knows I have x, and i know that they know I have x). So here are the pros in short: - A lower entry barrier for PvP. If you want to make it far in tournaments, you almost always have to have multiple teams. But not with a system like this. - Lower entry barrier means players can spread their focus across tiers more easily. This should help tiers like UU and NU grow immensely, because all of the player's money doesn't have to be spent on 5multiple OU teams/pokemon. - A more equal information game. The more equal the level of information is, the more skill based a game becomes. Chess, for example, is a perfect information game. - More emphasis on strong teambuilding. Because counter teaming won't be a thing, players are encouraged to build teams that are well prepared for a majority of threats. Cons: - Bad matchups are amplified. - Surprise gimmick moves/pokemon are less powerful. I'm not saying that every tournament should use a 'lock in' system. But it sure won't hurt to try a few times to see what people will think of it.

  5. I honestly dont mind either approach, but from a pure spectator and community standpoint I do believe that having a showdown tier adds something cool to psl: meme spectator names in the showdown chat, banter and allowing older players to participate in the event (I know they could just play mmo tiers instead but that'd require them to install the game again lmao and I love watching nik play showdown anyways) ' was a "showdown vs no showdown" poll ever made? just these two plain options? I believe the result would be different than the current one.

  6. Also, the thought of not hearing "Hey, what's going on, it's Gunthug here" this season really makes me sad and you should be ashamed of yourself if voted against that.

  8. I probably shouldn't have singled you out in particular but you're just the last post I saw on the matter (though you've made several posts against showdown tiers with little substance, IMO). Any argument for no showdown involving WC is easily discarded by the simple fact that WC teams had no real choice over who was on their roster. 12 seasons of PSL play are a lot more compelling to me than that, and from my (admittedly biased) perspective a sprinkling of showdown has always been a nice change of pace and, like I said, an easily accessible avenue for spectators and players with less time to still be involved and have a seat in the stands. I was the one who mentioned SPL and my argument was not necessarily that we owe anything to SPL, as if BKC is going to show up and scold us for not paying homage. It was in direct response to repeated, absurd claims that PSL was purely a pokemmo creation and therefore to even think about polluting the event with showdown was a break from that purity - hence why I mentioned the purity weirdos, of which there are many. The competitiveness is probably open to endless debate with completely subjective arguments on each sides, so I don't know that it's even worth having, but I've already outlined several times the benefit we get from showdown tier (not plural) and it's accessibility. I can click a link on discord and watch a showdown match in real time, I'd have to reinstall this dumpster fire to watch any other match. I'm not particularly excited about VGC just because I've never been a vgc player but the bar for competitiveness set by MMO tiers is so incredibly low I cannot imagine vgc fails to meet those standards. Again, as a spectator it's unfortunate that avenue will be cut off, but if the non existent benefits of halting a 12 season tradition to appease the purists is a compelling reason for you and others then so be it - the burden should really be on the side who wants to change the status quo, though

  9. I don't understand what kind of "data" you expect to gain from a season without showdown. It was 1 out of 10 tiers, this isn't a large or important change and there won't be any quantifiable difference as a result. All you and the pokemmo-purity weirdos accomplished is you've stripped away a small slice of the event that was easily accessible to spectators and players with lives outside of MMO. Congrats on the monumental victory

I've been watching Monster and I'm almost done with that, and I was able to talk to some family who I've been missing due to corona, so that was nice. We have a mandarin tree which is in season, and I've become very fond of them. They pair well with wine as a snack.

  13. This tbh And using the "I've never played showdown in 1 year and went 4-1" as a reason to show it's not competitive is bullshit imo.. The easily accessable showdown.. Literally make a team in a few minutes and play pretty much instantly can give any noddy a fairly decent chance to get practice in and perform well, especially if you've played PokeMMO tiers throughout, the transition really isn't that hard. I don't know what the outcome of the original vote was but even if only 20% of the voters wanted showdown, that's a large portion of interest and comparing that to PokeMMO tiers, it's probably similar. I've managed teams a few times and finding people back then for tiers like NU, UU or Doubles was no easier than finding a good showdown player. Voting against showdown just because you don't play it is not a good reason to reject it, however, if you don't enjoy it or believe PSL should be strictly PokeMMO tiers despite it being here since the start, then fair enough.

    Price of shiny Arbok

Its 100% priceless, and you should never get rid of it. Golden noodle is best noodle. But actually- for GTL, price by lowest price and use the Advanced Search feature to look up the egg group, 31 IV, and gender of that arbok- in this case 31 atk, Field or Dragon, and Male. Sort it by lowest price. GTL wise you can price a bit below the lowest if you wanna sell first, or a bit above- for Trade Chat I would price even lower (Say lowest is 2m, I would price 1.7-1.8m on Trade Chat) or something similar to that. Best of luck :3 Also if anyone else would like to build on this go ahead, this is learning pricing through my own experiences- im sure there are people better at it then me.

  18. It's pretty evident that the game suffers from a severe lack of content. To spice things up for a bit, I'd like to propose adding an achievement system. Give players short/ long term goals with a reward system if they are able to meet them. Also give players cool badges for each achievement they complete so that they can show it off in their player profile. Now that is a nice segue to my second suggestion which is Player Profiles. The upside to having player profiles are numerous. People can advertise their ELO ranking, their completed achievements, their PokeMMO services with a redirect to their shop on the forum, a small description about themselves, mutual friend list if your friend looks at your profile, your affiliation (team), and so many more. These are just off the top of my head. These QOL updates would definitely be welcome by majority of the player-base. If anyone else has any suggestions based on this topic, feel free to suggest them below. :) Cheers.

  19. I see no issue really. And if they can, they could make so the 2 systems could happen at each time. A lot of people are disgusted by the unhealthy mentality exerted from the way these tours are. Time to change #NewTourSystem2020

  20. I agree. Just stack this with bracket shuffling so you'll only really have the opportunity to scout your round 4/5 opponents' teams. Just build one team, and by the time you reach round 4 and figure out what your opponent is running, there is already no way to change your team anymore to adapt to it.

  22. I feel like I struck a nerve, that was never my intent, I just want a psl where we use all pokemmo tiers, because I believe that would look the most competitive overall. Would I be right about that? Meh juries out, but last wc really persuaded me against showdown tiers, I mean I hadnt touched SMOU for about a year and I went 4-1. Pretty much the major reason I voted for no pokemmo tiers, none of the arguments people posted in this thread in favour of showdown tiers persuaded me otherwise, but I'm open to continue listening. But if people are going to suggest we play vgc or some other showdown tier where the limited pool of players we have that play it are even further reduced, then it seems like the competitiveness of the tier is just gonna be trash, except for maybe one game where the two people who actually play the tier face off. Its not that im a mmo-purist, I just dont think we owe spl anything (as someone suggested earlier in this thread) nor do I think we benefit from showdown tiers(re:uncompetitive) But like I said, if you or anyone else who believe we should have showdown is able to convince me otherwise, then go for it.

  23. No showdown won twice, pretty clear the majority of us want to at least try an event without catering to it. If the we shall be smited for forsaking the spl founders we can always offer the hosts to appease the showdown gods

  29. I've seen a few people asking how to add your own custom background when you log-in, so I have decided to make a guide. Start by finding your PokeMMO folder. If you can't remember where you put it, like me, I right click the icon I have on my desktop and press 'open file location'. In the PokeMMO folder go to data then themes and select what theme you would like to give a custom background to. You should be seeing something like this- Using Notepad ++, or normal Notepad should do, edit gfx to include <images file="res/background.png"> <area name="login-background" xywh="*"/> </images> Like so- Then edit the main widgets to include <theme name="logingui"> <param name="background"><image>login-background</image></param> </theme> Like so- Save the picture you would like to use as the background as a png in the res folder and name it 'background' and there you go! Also reminder that themes are currently not supported on Android.

  46. Hi everyone, The next game update will feature a wide list of changes for PvP players. This will include a general balancing patch, refinement of most PvP systems in the game, and refinement of management tasks like move tutoring. ==== Automated PVP Updates Matchmaking will see a suite of changes, including updated reward structures, a seasonal based matchmaking ELO system, and features to encourage more tier participation. For reward structures, we have shifted the BP-based rewards to a streak-based approach. Over the years, we've been hesitant to include an automated Forfeit function in structured PvP due to the potential of encouraging poor quality matches where people forfeit while a match is still winnable. To counter this, players are now more encouraged to stay in a match at risk of losing their streak bonus, and additional bonuses are given if you're fighting an especially well ranked player. Matchmaking ELO decay has been another problem which we let stagnate over the years, which will be resolved by a season system for ELO. Seasons will last 3 months (the first season after the update's deployment will be slightly shorter due to updating in the middle of a season) and will perform a hard reset of ELO once over. Each Season will be capped off by an automated tournament exclusive to the top players of each tier's leaderboard, winners of which will receive exclusive items. To encourage UU/NU tier participation, we've introduced exclusive rewards for all tiers. Players may now also queue for multiple tiers in Matchmaking simultaneously, with a battle box assigned to each tier. Automated Tournaments have seen some attention. Tournament rewards will be more versatile in their choices, allowing for Gender selection & selectable IVs with any value (0~31). PokeMMO's Game Masters may also choose to give stacks of items, vanity items, or BP in future tournaments too. (Note that these changes only apply to future tournaments, not ones which have already been scheduled, or rewards which have been already mailed to players). On the small side, players will now be able to spectate others while queueing for matchmaking & tournaments with no fear of missing their queue. We'll now automatically shift from Spectate mode to Battle mode when a match is found. Battle Boxes are now also less terrible to manage, and can be assigned and changed more easily in the PC UI. ==== Generation 8 Updates With the introduction of Gen 8, many moves have had updated functionality increasing their versatility. Move changes will be included where applicable (Teleport, Rapid Spin, Healing Wish, Fling, and Howl), as well as ability changes (Intimidate, Moody) and egg group updates for a few species trees. This changeset also introduces Gens 1 & 2 TM moves to the relevant species, and Gen 7 changes which we'd omitted until now, including Gen7-3 (LGPE) movepools and missing mechanical changes to Gengar's ability, and the Prankster ability. Movepools for all species have been updated in some way or another, and the changes are far too numerous to note. In general, Gen 8 has priority over all other changes, then additional moves are processed from there. ==== Movepool Management Updates Those knowledgeable with earlier Gens & Gen 8 will notice that we are introducing a slew of new TMs- over 100, actually. This large bulk of items necessitated that we look at how we can better the move learning systems, and we've focused on streamlining the gain of renewable moves. Each region will now host an NPC in every healing center you come across, which will offer to teach you all of the Tutor moves that a region can offer, if you've acquired 8 badges in that region. 4 Shard-based "Regional Move Master" tutors are present in the game, 1 for each region, allowing you to learn regional-exclusive moves for a Shard+Item-based feed. Each of them is also accompanied by a Move Deleter & Relearner NPC. Prices for Relearners will also now more properly reflect the value of the move being relearned. All regions now have a store which will sell every TM in the game in their respective department stores, after you've completed its storyline. Redundant tutor data for all tutors has been removed, meaning no more TM / Tutor overlap. For GBA areas, NPCs with single-move move tutor scripts (e.g. Dream Eater) will now simply give untradeable TMs. Older Shard tutors have been removed entirely, and their moves redistributed as either TMs or into the newer Shard tutors. Overall, we feel it should be much easier to keep track of and learn. ==== This overview is not comprehensive, but covers the most important things we'll be changing this update. We're currently finalizing everything and expect to release it in early July. We hope you'll enjoy. Thanks for reading
