    I no longer play Pokemmo; the changes have been detrimental in the only tier that interested me. Firstly, the introduction of Gallade's hidden ability was a mistake. Following those changes, the Tier Council has been making questionable decisions regarding lower tiers. Some noteworthy examples include the sudden drops of Venomoth and Venusaur to NU for just a month, forcing breeders to invest in raising them, only to see them rise back the following month. Furthermore, I've read that Medicham, Milotic, and others have also dropped, which is truly absurd.
    We were fine with Gallade without its hidden ability. It allowed us to handle Blaziken, sun teams, rain teams, 6 walls, venusaur and other shits effectively and counteract Bronzor spam with the option to use Gallade with Substitute and Bulk Up. Now, that combination no longer exists, and only Adamant or Jolly is used. I believe that, during this period, the tier changes have been somewhat ridiculous, especially in recent months. They are burying the NU tier further and further.
    I appreciate not playing Pokemmo anymore, but I think, at the very least out of respect for new players, they should avoid making these temporary (1-month) changes, which seem to have become repetitive while I have not been actively playing.
    P.D.: Regarding the Tier Council, I have always believed that its members should have knowledge of all tiers to prevent changes like "Blastoise" suddenly breaking the meta in NU, only to have it return to UU in November for being too many strong.

    The next in game update will feature a wide list of changes for PvP players. This will include a general balancing patch for movepools for some species and letting things nerfed in the past come back with their real power to us.

    Generation 9-2 (Teal Mask) Updates

    With the introduction of Gen 9-2 Teal Mask DLC, movepools & abilities for some species have been updated in some way or another, so we have the pleasure to announce that this new stuff will reach our PvP scene with the next in-game update.
    The changes are important and will impact in our metagame so we have taken note of the most significant ones:

    About abilities:
    Piplup line 2nd ability is now Competitive. (Piplup/Prinplup/Empoleon) Shiftry's 2nd ability is now Wind Rider. Effect: When a Pokémon with Wind Rider is hit by a wind move or when Tailwind takes effect, its Attack is increased by one stage, and the move will have no effect on that Pokémon.

    Reverse Nerfs

    1.- Hydreigon: Draco Meteor
    Back to the end of 2020, Draco Meteor was removed from Hydreigon because for those times, this nerf was required for the reintroduction of the Pokémon from Ubers to OU. As stablished in our Tiering Policy: “If significant changes to the metagame have been implemented, these changes can be reversed through a suspect test if deemed appropriate by the tier council”.
    That being said, the Tier Council believes that this move can be tested and reintroduced to the game as there have been many significant changes including important mechanics/items (like Assault Gear) and HA's that have been added to the game since it was banned.
    We hope you can help to corroborate this decision to reintroduce it to our metagame. Enjoy it.

    2.- Gallade: Sharpness (x1.4):
    Gallade has been one of the most centralizing topics in the OU metagame in our community in the last months. As we know, the introduction of its new ability “Sharpness” gave it a high scale increase in usage and utility, which culminated in the conclusion that it was too strong for our current metagame. The Pokémon had to be nerfed to be reintroduced from Ubers to OU, making its ability have been reduced in damage (from x1.5 to x1.3 multiplier) to make it easier to control the threat that this Pokémon causes. After a month of review on this mon and its nerf, most of the TC members has come to the conclusion that the nerf massively affected Gallade which has restricted its use abysmally (18% usage to 5-6%), and the goal of a nerf is to weaken the specie as little as possible. Therefore, given the current usage Gallade has in OU, we would like to trial a rework on Sharpness buffed to x1.4 during its testing phase.

    Good morning team!
     
    I'm aware that one of the rules of suggestion box forums is:
    However, as the API topic is a very "need of context" and niche subject, I prefer to backle this up in an unique thread, and describe all possible usage cases of an hypotetical API, so I, and other 3rd party developers that may be interested in using the API, can defend the cause and push this to existence somehow.
     
    Now let's begin with the issue itself, as the API topic is something that occasionally appear in the suggestion box, however the last time commented (around 2017) have been discarted as developer team did not have time nor interest in tackle this kind of features, however, today I'm in front of you, with (actually I hope this don't turn into an essay) a list of features, technical review and possible tool development that may use the data shared within the game.
     
    At beggining I wanted to structure this topic as: First part for feature only description (so all players could bring some input into each of the ideas), however as many of the points I'd have to "repeat" for the sake of context, so I think the best idea is to just mix all things up in one self explained feature + a technical comment on how it could be implemented.
     
    Possible API usages list
     
    1. Pokemon summary data embedding (forums, discord) via shortcodes.
    This is something that's around my head since I've started playing the game, and the utility for this could be limitless, mostly for trade corner and shiny showcase but a lot of people could even use this in guides for competitive teams.
    This idea has 2 parts, the creation of a new feature in the client, that enables a new icon in the Pokemon Summary Screen (next to the last tab for example)
    [Here will appear an epic screenshoot of the idea soon]
     
    Once the player clicks that icon, on his clipboard automatically will be copied a shortcode, for example a format like [pokemon:a8b7c6d5e4], being the string of a8b7c6d5e4 an unique ID of the pokemon. This ID will be needed for a call to our API, and for the forums example, the idea is to show a card like this one:
    [Here will appear an epic mockup of the pokemon card integrated in forums]
     
    With all the basic information, and once you click in the card a popup just like the ingame summary will apear, to be checked by any player.
     

    This as a popup in the forums, thanks to the info delivered by the API.
     
    The integration on the forums could be either a JS function checking for any shortcode on the page loaded, with AJAX call data retrieve, and finally replacing the DOM with the HTML structure for both card and popups (but this approach could be an performance issue while a lot of shortcodes can be placed in the same page), the second option is a direct template edit of the IPB post structure, so all the cooking can be done serverside, and even with a good planing an S2S implementation for direct data access.
     
    Let's say the endpoints looks like the following:
    /api/pokemon/a8b7c6d5e4
    Meaning we want to retrieve the information of a pokemon (instead of pokemon we could use /item, /pokedex, /move, but more on this later). The data returned by the API (this is a sketch of a structure) could be the following:
    Returning all kind of info related to that one pokemon.
     
    This can be used for trade corner, shiny showcase threads, even link your favourite pokemons on your signature. Or get the data out of the forums, a discord bot that once in any channel you type /pokemon:a8b7c6d5e4 the data could be displayed in the chat. Obviously the data also can be explored by any developer for external usage (competitive team builder for type coverage calculators?).
     
    2. Berry growing status / notifications.
    As the berry growth is a time related event, and many people use external (but manual) tools to check on when the berry finished it's cycle, we could use another function to bring data related to the berries. For example an endpoint that requested with the username, could return a list of detailed information about all berries ready to be picked up, the berries that still are growing, the slots that you have left for more berries etc.
    I mention the username, as for example a call to /api/berries/username could return a JSON structure with all the information desribed, I know using only the username with no prior authentication may result in some personal information issues, but in the other hand, what harm it can do the knowledge that your friend can has the berries ready to collect.
     
    This can be used in services as smart notifications, that check every X minutes if you berries are ready, and send you (for example in-browser) notification about what berry can be collected already.
     
    3. Pokédex external implementation [Guide Tavern / Competitive Alley]
    So, as many knows the pokemon / pokedex has many changes compared to the original series, to fit better with MMO experience, and also mixing mechanics from different generations, for example pokemons that learn different moves. This leads to frequent questions in forums or chats, that could be attached in guides, however the changes frequently occur and guides are not updates with the new data. The implementation of an /api/pokedex/squirte function could return all information related to that pokemon, the lvl it evolves, the routes it can be found, what moves it learn via level up, breeding, TMs, tutors. anything that appear ingame and more, and just like the first example we could enable a shortcode structure like [pokedex:squirtle] so it can be linked to the guides directly (with no further update as the data it's coming from the game itself).
     
    4. Data related to events, tournaments, updates, announcements.
    All kind of data related to events or tournaments, for custom calendar implementation / stats on players winning the tournaments, even information of each player about PvP stats.
     
    5. Teams and clubs integration.
    Another data that could be integrated via API endpoint, is the information about ingame teams, so you could have a link between user profile, and his actual in-game team name.
     
    6. Encounter tracking
    This kind of tools gained major popularity, to count on how many times a pokemon was encountered, so you can check on shiny hunting statistics or other interesting values.
    The in-game engine could return for every encounter a basic information on pokemon type, if it was shiny, how many steps was made between encounters etc.
     
    7. More implementations coming later.
    You may notice I've not even mentioned the GTL yet, as this topic will bring another wall of text itself, however it's somethign that I'll add in near future for sure.
     
    For now, I'd want to know a general opinion on this from staff + devs, but also the 3rd party developers opinion that will use this API solution, their own input into this suggestion, or anything that it can be improved / other data that could be useful (as I was out of the game for several years for sure I've missed some important changes that also could be explored).
    Who knows, maybe if we find this with enough interest from 3rd party developers, and now the PokeMMO team is a bit less occupied with features implementation, we could find this as something happening eventually, It is a long shot, but you never know.

    I see your point, as it happens in different games, but to make an Smurf account you need to complete at least 1 region.
    Some points to take in count about smurfing:
    - there is no big benefit from smurfing here besides the prizes for each account, but that is already happening.
    - the smurf account will not last forever, if they grow high in ELO they will get high ELO rapidly.
    - max accounts to smurf for each player is 3, unless they switch emails.
     
    As you said, smurfs are a problem, but this is a different topic, you see, people smurf here all the time because the prizes for each account, so is a different topic to care about, like, if they have a lot of wins, and few loses, they should get a higher matchmaking queue, but im not asking for that in this wish, for now, I just ask for a prohibition to not allow high ELO players to get a duel with low ELO players.

    So I can't imagine any good, consistent team with him in OU.
    Chandelure OU team I recommend:
     
    Mienshao, Chandelure, Rotom-Wash, Scizor, Ferrothorn and Gliscor.

    Ferrothorn special defenser
    Rotom physical defense
    Scizor sword dance close combat
    Mienshao wall

    You can be the Leaderboard number #25 with 500 wins and 176 defeats for example, and the matchmaking will not stop you from getting a "Trainer" rank as enemy.
    This is NOT NEW PLAYER FRIENDLY.
    I asume it scares any new ranked players when they are playing against something I call an obvious losing match.
    In the other hand, the ELO the high elo Player wins from defeating someone who's elo doesn't surpases 600 when they are 850+ is so low, that its like they are not winning, and if they loose the match, they will loose A LOT of ELO...
    So, pairing both ranks is something that I think should not be allowed.
    This is also why Players with 800 wins and 100 loses keep multiplying, because the matchmaking is obviously unfair, duels should be against people FROM THE SAME ELO.
    Even so, I understand that PokeMMO has not enough players to fully accomplish this wish, so I SUGGEST:
     
    Elite trainers, or players with more than 750 ELO will NOT be able to find duel in OU ranked against Novice Trainers and Trainers. (AT LEAST)
     
    Also, about the time in queue, I don't think the matchmaking for a high ELO leaderboard will change much with this change, maybe max 4 minutes queue, and even if is more, this is SUPPOSED to happen, in all the games, when a high ELO queues up, It takes a lot of time to find a match, I don't see why it should not be like that in here, at least like I said, 2 minutes of more waiting for a match.
     
    Conclusion:
    With this change, the people that are just learning how to fight will be much happier when queueing up, being safe from getting a bad experience against someone whose rank is way higher, and I assume there will be more players trying to get into competitive.
     
    With this change, 750+ ELO players will have to change their teams probably, a little bit, to adjust fights against people that will may be from the same ELO, resulting in more Profesional battles, and also a little fix in the winrates, giving them the oportunity to show their real level where the players from low elo are not involved.

    Also, about the time in queue, I don't think the matchmaking for a high ELO leaderboard will change much with this change, maybe max 4 minutes queue, and even if is more, this is SUPPOSED to happen, in all the games, when a high ELO queues up, It takes a lot of time to find a match, I don't see why it should not be like that in here, at least like I said, 2 minutes of more waiting for a match.

    With this change, the people that are just learning how to fight will be much happier when queueing up, being safe from getting a bad experience against someone whose rank is way higher, and I assume there will be more players trying to get into competitive.
     
    With this change, 750+ ELO players will have to change their teams probably, a little bit, to adjust fights against people that will may be from the same ELO, resulting in more Profesional battles, and also a little fix in the winrates, giving them the oportunity to show their real level where the players from low elo are not involved.

    Is not new for everyone that when someone queue in ranked, the matchmaking choose the fight randomly.
    You can be the Leaderboard number #25 with 500 wins and 176 defeats for example, and the matchmaking will not stop you from getting a "Trainer" rank as enemy.
    This is NOT NEW PLAYER FRIENDLY.
    I asume it scares any new ranked players when they are playing against something I call an obvious losing match.
    In the other hand, the ELO the high elo Player wins from defeating someone who's elo doesn't surpases 600 when they are 850+ is so low, that its like they are not winning, and if they loose the match, they will loose A LOT of ELO...
    So, pairing both ranks is something that I think should not be allowed.
    This is also why Players with 800 wins and 100 loses keep multiplying, because the matchmaking is obviously unfair, duels should be against people FROM THE SAME ELO.
    Even so, I understand that PokeMMO has not enough players to fully accomplish this wish, so I SUGGEST:
     
    Elite trainers, or players with more than 750 ELO will NOT be able to find duel in OU ranked against Novice Trainers and Trainers. (AT LEAST)

    Shinies captured should be seen in the Pokédex, maybe with a yellow border instead of blue or green (non ot and ot caught).
     
    Or at least, models displayed in the Pokédex should give you the option to show the shiny model if you captured (maybe if seen too).

    Though I have no concrete proof of this, I believe that bots are rampant on the GTL specifically. Alpha flipping seems to be the most obvious use here. If an Alpha is under 25k it seems to be snatched up instantly as soon as it's posted. Now I know that normal players probably grab some of them some of the time but the consitency at which alphas are bought and flipped is high and fast enough that I am suspicious. Adding a captcha check after a certain amount of purchases within a certain amount of time of the poke being posted from the recently posted section would help combat bots to some extent. This wouldnt affect players mass buying dittos or specific pokes for breeding, or even the average glt flipper but only bots/people camping the just posted section and "sniping" items and pokes at an unusually fast rate. Again I have no proof but I've seen several players speculate about this and this implementation would help stop some bad actors and help the overall economy.
