I once ordered a sig from DrCraig. We came to a pretty fair deal...300k, delivered in three payments, and he'd give me all the bells and whistles. Animated text, self-rendering, bizarre colors, you name it. I gave him 100k up front to let him know I was good for the whole payment, and he began work on my masterpiece.

After about a week, he had finished the Sig. It was marvelous. The problem was, I had blown every last penny I had on mystery boxes. I told him I could easily get the money, and that it'd just take me another day or two so I could scrape down all my alts. Well, days turned into weeks. My mystery box addiction was controlling my life at this point. Nearly every day, I got a whisper from the doc himself, inquiring politely about my funds. I'd come up with a different excuse every time...in fact, I'm actually rather proud of some of them. He'd always just reply the same way, though, regardless of how well crafted my excuse was.

Dr: Gun, how's that money coming along? Still owe 200k, you know?
Me: Haha yeah man I know. I actually almost have it all, I just need to sell a couple more UTs

Once, but just once, his tone changed. I told him that I had all the money caught up in a ponzi scheme, but that justice would be doled out swiftly, and then I'd pay him. He lashed out at me. He told me I'd regret ever fucking with someone like him. I was a little taken aback, but I expected this sooner or later. 200k is nothing to mess around with. So I asked him for one more week. Seven days of hard work, and I'd finally settle this debt. He obliged, but not without sending me one more daunting : ).

This time, I thought, I need to take this seriously. I'll lay off the box, make 200k, and pay him off. Well, easier said than done. I didn't hear from Dr again for 13 long days, all of which I spent burnt out on lava cookies and elixirs. Maybe he's just forgotten about it, I thought to myself, though I never really believed that for a second.

But then came The Tuesday.

I was combing the grass on I6, looking for something to hold me over for a few minutes, when I heard the *ding* of a whisper. Eyes nervously darting to my chat box, I noticed it was from the Dr. immediately.

Hey Gun. How's Miranda doing today?

It took a second to settle in. Miranda? Wait, how does he know my sister's name? I laughed and shook my head. It's just a game, I thought, sweat forming on my brow. He couldn't possibly know my real identity, let alone my sisters. Just for peace of mind, I figured I should probably go ahead and give her a call. She'd certainly laugh at me for getting into this situation in the first place, but at least I'd know she was safe. I flipped through my phonebook till I found her entry, and dialed her up.

Hey, it's Miranda, go ahead and leave a mess...

No. She's....maybe she's at a friends? I'll try my home phone. I thought. But before I could, I was interrupted by a sharp vibration in my hand. The Caller ID read "Mom." Heart racing, I swiped to answer, but I knew what was coming. Turns out, my sister had been in a car accident just minutes before. She was ran off the highway by a jet black Escalade. Through her sobs, I thought I heard my mom mention something about a smiley emblem on the side of the Escalade, and that the driver of the other car was never found. Miranda, though....she didn't make it.

The phone slid out of my hand as the reality of the situation washed over me. I didn't know whether to scream, cry, or both. The world started to spin out of control around me as I tried to get a grasp on what was happening. But then suddenly, I heard a sound. Snapping me out of my daze, the *ding* was coming from my laptop. Aimlessly, I ambled over to my desk. There it was, right in the chatbox, staring me right in the face. A message from DrCraig.

TL;DR - Pay this man. Pay this man right now. And never underestimate what he is capable of.

It does appear there are pretty sound arguments against buffed Knock Off, while the arguments for it are simply "let's do it." I think if PokeMMO were truly ready for this buff, then we would have better arguments in favor of it. I do believe with the item diversity we have today, a move like Knock Off becomes much more viable. Does that require a buff that could break the game? Probably not.

I'm glad that the hosts brought back a showdown tier for this PSL, but from what I understand DPP was originally introduced as a 'progression' from the previous Gen 3 OU meta we had on MMO.

Since then, DPP is now over ten years old and MMO has heavily changed where we have a gen 5 meta mixed with gen 8/9 mechanics, so going forwards it may be good to introduce SV OU as a new Showdown format or ORAS OU at the bare minimum.

I know a lot of people are against Showdown tiers since it's not related to MMO, but I do believe it will bring old players who aren't committed to MMO, players who may have talent and most of all less resources needed to breed Pokemon etc, which is why I will always be in favour of a Showdown tier being included.

I know it certainly doesn't seem like it, considering alt runs are probably the best way to make money, but the devs are likely trying to discourage the use of alts as a gameplay mechanic and this inability to send mail to the same account is probably part of their solution.

I was giving this some thought the other day, too, and I think what would solve a lot of problems (including this one) is some sort of Team-shared box, or a team bank. Teams should be able to share comps and keep spare comps (and by proxy, items) in "storage" for whenever the need arises....I think i'm getting a little off track though, since there's likely already a suggestion for this. I would support this suggestion of course, but I don't see it being cleared

I would like to thank @Luke for coming up with this event and for giving me the opportunity to be a manager. Thank you @RysPicz @Shadow for giving your time and commitment to host a high-quality event despite there being many difficult decisions to be made, I hope you both will be able to host similar events in the future.

I would like to thank @YourAngst for being an amazing co-manager, a lot of people may have been surprised by my decision since you may not be as well known by the wider community, but I knew from the very beginning that you would be an amazing help, and I was not wrong at all - your time, dedication and input was invaluable and I greatly appreciate that. You are definitely talented and I hope you decide to co-manage/manage similar events in the future.

I would like to thank @Razachu for helping our team to breed the resources they need at short notice, your support was much appreciated.

And a huge thank you to every single one of my teammates -

You came to this event respecting me as a manager, and despite so many people doubting our draft and team, each of you came with a positive attitude, putting rivalries aside to help each other out with scouting, teambuilding, practising, and providing a positive environment. Despite having a tough first week, you all came out stronger each time, eventually coming out as deserved winners. Now for individual shoutouts:

@Biramontes - You have been an amazing player, I didn't know who you are as a person, but I saw you performing strongly on the OU ladder and thought you would be a great addition. You had a very solid performance, it was good to see you become more recognised by top players in the game and I'm glad I got to know you better, you're a really nice guy and you have huge potential.

@Matthzinxl - You came at short notice due to one of our players having to drop out, but you immediately made an impact with your positivity and dedication and finished unbeaten at 4-0, clutching the final tiebreaker. I hope you savour this moment for a very long time, well deserved and thank you so much.

@Xigbar - Although you were only able to play one week, your efforts in making sure we got the practice we needed was really valuable, your support was also amazing and you were our lucky charm, once again being on the winning team. Thank you so much for all your help.

@cochetas - Many people outside VOW may have been surprised by my pick, but you are a very skilled player across all tiers and your performance showed. You grabbed some valuable wins and you have a positive future ahead.

@Gunthug - I'm glad you were able to get back into the DPP scene, you've proven that you've still got the skills and despite your real life commitments, I appreciate the effort you put in to play and win the matches when we needed them most. Thank you and you're a great guy.

@ShanQi - Despite a tough start, you didn't let this get to you and you helped us grab some important wins. I also see you doing well in tournaments, you are a friendly person and I hope we get to be on the same team in the future.

@pablobacas - The one I need to single out and say the biggest thank you to. You have admittedly carried us for so many weeks, including some very intense matches which not only decided the week, but brought us to the tiebreaker. You fully deserve not only the MvP BO3 OU, but the overall MvP with an amazing 7-1 record.

@DrakeHope - Your support has been amazing and a learning experience for me was to make you my captain as you helped to resolve stuff with other teams. As a player, I don't know how other teams didn't draft you, because apart from WarwitoX you brought the most wins in LC and will always be one of the best in the tier, thank you so much.

@Sebat - Your support, teambuilding advice, and attitude have been amazing. You grabbed us some wins which proved vital in a competition which had a huge amount of high quality players.

@MaatthewMLG - Although you were only able to play one game, I'm glad you had a chance to shine and thank you for staying on the server and supporting us throughout the event.

@UTR - moo

Finally, I enjoyed this event overall and could not have asked for a better team. Admittedly as a manager, it took a lot of my time alongside my other commitments, but it was absolutely worth it to see the whole team come together and win.

This experience as a manager was invaluable, and gave me good memories of Optic, and I hope that this experience helps me to gain the credentials I need to manage in the highest event like PSL when the time comes....
