  1. Just a small thing, but this isn't just Showdown QoL-feature - all these counters have also existed in the real games for a good while. Even GameFreak considers that in competitive Pokemon all this information should be available for players all the time and they shouldn't have to memorize how many turns of something is still left. Also having this info seems like a high priority to me because PokeMMO is Android game now too and trying to read the battle chat with Android is an absolute mess and puts mobile players in a disadvantage against computer players. Either way, having the turn counters on the screen will benefit everyone and makes the game closer to how Pokemon is supposed to be played so idk why this isn't a thing yet.

  7. In case Electrode quickban isn't a premature ApFools joke, congrats to TC for making the most laughable, baseless and straight up awful decision in the history of this game. Have you even looked at tiering policies once to get an idea how sparingly quickbans should be used? Edit: Quickbanning for Support Uber Characteristics for fast screens set up, just take a minute just think how ridiculous that sounds. Just fucking think.
  8. Why is Electrode even being discussed? It's not even great. It was just the best available screen setter for UU sweepers. If anything the UU sweepers were amazing, Electrode was just their screen setter. Electrode being "good" was just a product of its metagame, not Electrode itself. This is almost as if Ludicolo was perceived strong in NU just because it has alright viability in OU. But Ludicolo only has that viability due to OU metagame (Pelipper), Ludicolo without its best friend doesn't do much in NU. Electrode as a screen setter is the same in regards to UU. If screens hyper offense becomes a problem in NU then by all means discuss how to fix it but so far we can't know that is the case. And even if it is the case, it needs heavy arguments that Electrode is the problem - not the specific sweeper. Most NU sweepers aren't as dominant at sweeping entire teams as let's say Azu or Venomoth in UU, which were the mons Electrode supported. Tbh even mentioning Electrode now is very premature.
  9. Or just go into wild double battle with only 2 Pokemon in your party so Teleport will fail. Also to everything else above, this is literally 9 year old guide when MMO was in stone age..
  10. Hey, it's another one of these again. No, please don't run away yet. As the title implies, this post is to initiate discussion about the current event system in PokeMMO. My concern (that I've been feeling for a good while) has been that the events in PokeMMO have been far too identical to each other to really be interesting anymore. Another tournament, just with a different shiny prize. Another catch event, just some different specie to catch. Another Scavenger Hunt but apparently we haven't been catching Flying-types yet. People who have been around for a while know that this hasn't been always the case. PokeMMO used to have a plethora what we used to call "gimmick tournaments" with custom rulesets, some of which were great and some that... could have used some more thought. But in both cases, I've come to realize those kinds of events were the ones to keep the game interesting. It utilized this game's uniqueness - the MMO aspect. Having nothing but automated tournaments doesn't really set this game noticeably apart from, let's say "Smogon tournaments". Rather than spectating the games with just username, you have a customizable avatar to watch games with. That's how it feels, really. What I'm suggesting you could do is to revive what we used to call "gimmick tournaments" at least in some form and host these events somewhere in the overworld, in an actual location in the game. If you need ideas, I mean there were all kinds of attempts (STAB-tournaments, monotype-tournaments, trivia-PvP combinations etc) so there were plenty of things that were fun that could be revived. And I wouldn't even care if you tried something completely new, even if it is something silly, just to try out if a concept works. Even unsuccessful attempts of something "weird" would keep this game more interesting. It is clear this shift happened largely due to automated battle system. There is no doubt the successful implementation of both automated tournament system as well as matchmaking improved the quality of this game by a lot. But it also slightly killed the soul of the old PokeMMO, which is what I've come to realize initially kept me in this game to begin with. If this soul could be demonstrated also to new players, I think it could improve the player experience by a lot. I've participated in this kind of discussion briefly in some unofficial conversation channels and a common concern against these kinds of non-automated events is that people don't really read PokeMMO Forums, so automated tournaments are the only way to get a reasonable amount of participation in today's PokeMMO. But I think a way to avoid this is to implement a functional event calendar inside PokeMMO client that lists all the upcoming events of PokeMMO (not just PvP-events) and it directs to a forum post that explains the full ruleset to players and directs them to signup. This way players do not have to active forum readers to take part of these events and they can get the information of events already from in-game client. I do also recognize having custom rulesets have become less implementable because the average playerbase of PokeMMO doesn't speak just English anymore. But these events could be hosted to all kinds of language groups in the game. Even just a couple of custom ruleset tournaments per month would keep this game far more interesting than it is now, in my opinion. Also, I am aware this requires effort from staff members to happen. In order to have these events, there would be staff members to have willingness and time to host all of this and I recognize it isn't small work. But just come up with any event idea you as staff members consider fun and different and I'm sure it will be well received by the playerbase because as I said, I think we really need something new and different to this game. That's all really, thank you for reading. P.S. You don't have to link me "event suggestion thread", I know it exists. This post isn't just about specific event suggestions but about far broader topic - the whole philosophy behind current event system which I think could use some of the aspects from "the old PokeMMO".

  14. I understand that but it just feels kind of a slap in the face when something that could easily be shiny isn't shiny. I see much more point in making a non-shiny prize from something that isn't exactly common. Like at least something that is hard/annoying to breed or something which makes it feel like a reward, Whimsicott is basically a 4x31 comp in most cases so it doesn't feel much of a prize at all. 250 is half of 500, so with two semifinals you would hit an even number. That's why 1000/500/250/250 makes far more sense to me if you give out 2k RP. But it's not like it matters that much anyways because it's probably gonna be a while until something gets bought from the gift shop since lunar new year's event is gone by then.
  15. Awh man I was really hoping for this one to be shiny... I don't think Shiny Whimsicott would be impossible to have, it's not that rare or anything? Also the RP distribution is just weird, 900 and 600 are kinda awkward distribution considering RP items are usually costing 500/100/1500
  16. I completely forgot to respond to this. My main reason is to have the highest possible chance to get Tailwind up. Nothing wrong with Modest, though. These are good reasons too.
