I have never played competitive before but have started teambuilding. Currently, my team is: Milotic - Bold Haxorus - Adamant/Zoroark - Timid Lucario - Timid Volcarona -Timid Chandelure -Timid I looked through some competitive guides suggesting a safe playstyle would be to have 2 walls for a team, so I chose a Relaxed nature ferrothorn. However, I don't know how to ev it. Should it be 252 HP with 252 defense or special defense? Is a mixed ev spread a bad idea. Since I have 2 fire types, Ideally I want it to tank water attacks, as well as psychic for lucario. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I made a post about how to start building a team and using the advice there, I have an idea of what my team looks like. I heard that having dark, psychic, and fighting on my team is safe to start off with, but I don't know where my team is going. Can anyone help with leading me to a direction? For example, should I replace lucario with mienshao(u-turn) since almost all my mons are special attackers? Is hydreigon a better dark type to use? What should my other 2 mons be? What I have: Milotic - Wall - Toxic/Dragon Tail/Recover Ferrothorn - Wall - Stealth Rocks/LeechSeed Dark/Fighting/Psychic Zoroark - U-turn/Nasty Plot (Dark) Lucario - Nasty Plot (Fighting) ? (Psychic) Last mon - ?

I finished all four regions and have made several 3/4x31s to prepare for comp. However, I realized that I don't know many fundamentals of the game. Can anyone help answer some of my following questions about team building before I waste a lot of my pokeyen breeding mons that can't go well together? How should I pick my team's typing? Is having a weather or stealth rocks/spikes pokemon necessary? Are there pokemon that should be specifically paired with others? Is it hard to win battles with non OU pokemon? How bad is it to have 2 mons with the same type on a team? How to know what to lead with? For reference, right now, I have Lucario, Zoroark, Milotic, Chandelure, and Haxorus bred up to at least 3x31. How do I know if they go well together or not?

I was breeding larvitar, and am stuck with a 3x31 as I don't haave enough mons yet to continue breeding, so I thought to use it for my sinnoh run. Currently, the mons i'm using are zoroark, emboar, haxorus, and milotic. If I add tyranitar to my team, I feel like it will hurt my team with it's sandstorm ability. I know it only evolves at 55, but I don't know if it's worth it to use against the elite four. Is tyranitar worth using or not and why?

Can someone explain what ditto boxes are? Someone in chat said they bought ditto boxes, and as far as I know, you can't buy boxes in the GTL. Am I misunderstanding something?

I don't have any fully bred pokemon, so I don't want to put effort into fighting it if there isn't a good reward. Does the boss level scale to mine or give anything besides the untradeable mage outfits?

I want a dragon type for comp, but can't choose. Is haxorus or hydreigon better? I feel that hydreigon has a better movepool, and has advantages of being a special attacker (intimidate,etc) but I heard that Haxorus has slightly better stats. Which one should I pick? Is garchomp better than both of them? on a side note: can i ev a 31-speed-iv emboar in speed instead of hp if it's just for story, or is it still going to be outsped by everything?

There are 3 pokemon I would like to start breeding but I feel like their stats hold them back from being good enough for comp. The three are Emboar, Krookodile, and Zoroark. Could anyone tell me if any of them could be good?

How are moves inherited when breeding? I want to teach my pokemon move tutor/tm moves right now, but I plan to breed it later. Is it a waste, or will those moves be inherited? How does the game choose what moves are inherited? Is there a priority?

I know most stone evolutions won't learn new moves, but I was wondering if I evolved my lampent, would it have new moves to learn?

I have an Adamant + 1x31Atk Tynamo, and I was wondering what ev's to give it. I already gave it 252 Atk, and was thinking of giving it 252 Speed, but some people say it's not worth it since it's already very slow. Should I invest them in HP?

I need help picking pokemon for my unova team, as I like too many of them to choose from. Right now, I have a Krookodile, Samurott, and Scizor. Some factors that may help is how hard it is to catch the pre-evolution(with right ivs), coverage, etc). If any could pick three from the list and good reasons why, it would be very helpful! These are some potential pokemon I would like to pick from: Mienshao, Hydreigon, Chandelure, Eelektross, Volcarona, Zoroark, Braviary, Reuniclus, and Ferrothorn

(what I mean is to have my scyther ev trained why still being under level 16) I just finished my second region and was planning to go to unova, and I was wondering if I could ev train one of my mons before moving there. I don't like to have to ev train in the early game, as there aren't that many horde locations, and pokemon moves are pretty weak, so I want to ev train ahead of time.

after my original one has 3x31 (satk,sdef,spd), then I would have to breed it with one that has 4x31(hp, satk,sdef,spd), if I want it to have hp iv as well?

I have a 2x31 gastly (satk and speed), and I was hoping to breed it with my other gastly with 1x31 (sdef). However, I don't know how to get my egg to inherit all 3 perfect ivs, as pokemon can only hold 1 bracer? Could anyone tell me what to do from here?

I'm not sure if I understand this correctly, so if anything is wrong, please tell me ? 1. Capture a pokemon with ideal nature and 1+ 31IV stat 2. Find pokemon with a 31IV stat and breed it with my pokemon (how do I know which pokemon will be the egg if it isnt a ditto?) 3. When breeding, give the brace to both pokemon to make sure the egg will have both ivs? 4. give everstone to good nature pokemon 5. get the egg and repeat with another mon with 31iv stat

I have several questions about competitive, I would appreciate it if someone helped ? if there is an updated guide, that can help as well 1. About tiers (OU/UU), do you have to fight in these specific categories? If yes, do all the pokemon in your team have to be in the same category? 2. How good do my pokemon have to be before I can start? (3 perfect ivs?) 3. What are those points that you can get rewards with? (example: blissey - 0/1200) How can I get them? 4. Difference between ranked and casual?

I was at pokemon tower in lavender town, when I encountered a wild haunter. It used curse several times, and instead of taking damage, its speed dropped and attack rose as if it weren't a ghost type. Was it a glitch?
