  1. Either that, or some kinda advance warning about what pokemon he'll be looking for and offering. Like a news bulletin; 'Rumour has it that the legendary breeder Alfonso (just for fun) will be touring Kanto with his amazing [insert pokemon here] in a week's time! Alfonso is reportedly looking for an equally amazing [insert other pokemon here], and is willing to trade for one! Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity!' ...could also work?
  2. This is more or less what I had in mind. The gen 4 thing would make things difficult, like OldKeith noted, but if there was a viable means of making EV training easier, I reckon this would be one of the simpler solutions.
  3. When I saw that the breeding braces were implemented however long ago it was, it immediately reminded me of the Power items from gen IV, such as the Power Weight, Power Bracer etc. Would it be possible to implement this effect with the breeding braces, so that they have other uses? This is probably a stretch, but it would really save time on EV training, which is arguably one of the biggest grinds in pokeMMO. And it's not even a huge gain, with 2 EVs per kill changing to 5 EVs (assuming the target drops 1 EV), so aside from the braces being perhaps a touch cheap with this included, I can't see any real downside. Thoughts?
  4. Yeah, that's a fair point. I just figured it was something which hadn't been suggested yet, and may meet the approval of some without corrupting the game's difficulty too much.
  5. I'd totally be up for this. A lot of hours on PokeMMO are spent aimlessly grinding or farming; so why not turn both into something productive? The GPX has its own version of this; in the latter half of every even month, you're asked once a day to complete some simple task. Whether this is find a rare trinket (GPX thing, I can explain if needed), hatch a pokemon with a specific nature, or raise a Yellow Fighting-type to Lv72 before the day's up, that was your task for the day. Everyone was to receive the same task, and those who completed said task would be rewarded with Prize Points (the GPX's answer to Reward Points) at the start of the next month, based on how many tasks they completed. While this does seem like a tangent, I am relating it back, because the GPX is an online community not dissimilar to the PokeMMO one, and it's been proven to work well. Which brings me to another minor point; could Reward Points also be a possible prize for completing these daily tasks? Only a small amount (say, 100 points at a time or something?), but this would stop people complaining about not having enough PC space, because given enough time and farming, they'd be able to get their PC expanded themselves, without spending money they potentially can't afford.
  6. ...well this was a pretty long read. I'm not sure I can offer any serious amounts of help on the matter, but there are a couple of game mechanics we can exploit to make things a little easier for those considered 'difficult' to breed. In terms of male only breeders: On one of the many other pokemon related sites I follow - The Global Pokedex Plus - they allow the father to also pass down his species in the day care, as well as the female. Now, what if we were to implement this on here? For an example, let's have a somewhat typical breeding pair; Tauros x Miltank. Both are only available with one gender, and thus they'd effectively fill in the 'family' role that all 50/50 gender pokemon possess. While you could scale up the costs for selecting gender, the mechanics would still function more or less the same, with IVs being easily inherited, and male pokemon being able to hatch from eggs without the need of a Ditto. For clarity's sake, you'd be able to breed male only pokemon with female only pokemon, such as Hitmonchan x Jynx, Tauros x Miltank, etc. Seeing as Tauros and the Hitmons (sounds like an 80s pop group, amirite? xD) are the only relevant ones, I reckon this'd be a fairly sane way of mitigating the problem without ruining the breeding system too much. I know I haven't explained this brilliantly (I'm pretty terrible at explaining things) but you guys understand what I'm trying to say with this one, right? For genderless breeding: Another mechanic used in latter games is that some pokemon are guaranteed a certain number of perfect IVs when you encounter them, namely legendary and baby pokemon (as of gen 6). Now, while I'm not saying every Ditto we catch should have 3 perfect IVs at any given time, if we scaled this down to one, maybe two IVs at the absolute most, it would make genderless breeding a fair amount easier, all the while maintaining Ditto's value, and easing farming time on genderless pokemon, due to them at least having one IV you can rely on. ...did I help any here? :3
  7. I'd personally avoid bulk, simply because Espeon has none to write home about. Going fully offensive would be its best bet, because it has brilliant 130/110 sweeping stats. I'm not sure how much Morning Sun will help you, but I'd also consider Shadow Ball in there too, for optimal coverage. Alongside HP Ground and Psychic, you'll be getting near perfect coverage (only Skarmory and Murkrow resist all three iirc, and the latter's hardly common). Skarmory won't like taking a +1 Psychic due to its lack of reliable recovery either, so you've a pretty strong setup there. I agree that Hasty isn't an ideal nature for Espeon, but it's still much better than, say, Naughty, because it actually boosts a stat Espeon appreciates, and its Defence is pretty damn low anyway. So yeah, I'd just go offensive. If you needed a more defensive Calm Mind user, the aforementioned Gardevoir would be somewhat decent, and you'd probably get some good mileage out of Claydol, Clefable or even Hypno.
  8. I'd personally invest in a little more Defence on there, seeing as Hypno's physical bulk is somewhat poor. Something like 252 HP / 120 Def / 136 SDef instead? Assuming perfect IVs, it hits a jump point on Special Defence, which is always nice. Also, Toxic's another option instead of Thunder Wave, as it complements Protect and is somewhat spammable considering Hypno can hit incoming Poison-types with its Psychic STAB. Just depends on whether you wanna cripple walls or sweepers really, huh?
  9. Well, I was thinking the original breeding style they used to have on here (either the one that's identical to the ones in the RL games, or the weird flag thing they had for a while - whichever you guys prefer), I'd like that revived, while the one we currently have is proving popular and effective, albeit expensive, so both have their merits. I dunno about others, but I personally like the random chance thing with the old breeding system. Paying out a lot of money for something that can still backfire horribly is a big deterrent, and this would also help the population of rarer pokemon, such as Dratini and other Safari pokemon, which are obviously difficult to farm due to how difficult they are to even find, forget catch. ...getting the kinks ironed out might be a bit tricky, but it wasn't outright rejected. That makes me happy at least. :3
  10. Hey there. I'm not sure if this has been suggested before, and if it has I'm sorry, but didn't see another thread like this, so... Would it be possible to reinstate the old breeding system? Yet keep the new one as well? I reckon this would lead to a much more flexible means of attaining pokemon. Pokemon could be bred and sold more easily than going out there and wasting time and poke balls on 'duds' so to speak, which would help people generate income, and those who didn't like this idea would be able to do it the current way, thus pleasing both parties. I know mods are generally against what was once known as 'bikeMMO', in which people would endlessly cycle the length of cycling road to hatch eggs, but the opportunity cost is there if you think about it. The new way has everything done in just minutes, and costs a lot more, while the latter takes a lot longer, is far less reliable, and costs less. Thoughts on this?
  11. That would just be more or less the same problem, imo. It'd be much easier to farm 4 or 5 eggs, and activate all of their flags at once. Having said that, I fully support this. Only being able to have one egg at a time is really fucking annoying.
  12. I feel like I'm treading on thin ice just by asking this, but would it be possible to have this implemented? I mean, breeding on here is already very tedious, so throwing us one small helping hand like this would be greatly appreciated among the community. I know you can use Ditto for passing down natures with the Everstone, but this isn't always ideal when said Ditto has horrible IVs, and spending potentially forever trying to farm a Ditto with the right nature AND good IVs is simply daunting. This will mostly make a difference when egg moves are involved, as you can simply breed a female with Ditto when egg moves aren't required, but I figure, seeing as the percentage has already been nerfed from 50% to 20%, it can't hurt to have 20% on both genders? That technically wouldn't affect the probability at all, due to Everstone mechanics (i.e. only one pokemon of the pair can use its effects), but it would save a bit of time in breeding. You could reduce the percentage to 10% on males or something if you wish to balance it out, but as far as I'm concerned, there's only positive outcomes? It would reduce the endless egg grinding because they might actually hatch what they want after a few dozen eggs instead of a couple of hundred, meaning they'll be able to do other things. (Also, sorry if this was suggested before. I wouldn't be surprised if it has)
  13. Some pokemon based websites (The GPX, for example) have given egg sprites for each and every individual pokemon, so it's totally doable. Very time consuming for programmers, though. D:
  14. Pokemon already receive EVs by holding the Experience share anyways, so it's largely pointless imo.
  15. I guess you could look at it that way? xD But yeah, obvious privacy invasion would be a thing, so you wouldn't have to show them if you don't wanna. Of course, there's also the option of just letting other members' PC boxes become visible to the public and doing it that way, but I like this way moar.
