I don't disagree with what the "guide" is saying except for the part that this is absolutely not a guide.

A thread like this should be in General Discussion, not the Guide Tavern.

    Hi everyone!

I searched the forum and didn't find this farming method, which might be in some YouTube video. In short, it's simple and I believe it's optimal for Ditto farming. It is fast and efficient.

    WHERE
    Spoiler
    Region: Hoenn
    City: Fallarbor Town
    Exact Location: Desert Underpass
Requirement: Having defeated the Elite Four (E4).

    TEAM
    Spoiler
The Smeargle leading your party (holding Safety Goggles) should be at least Level 70 (might work at lower levels).
Adamant nature is ideal but not essential.
Preferably has 31 IV in Attack.
The second Smeargle must only know False Swipe. This ensures:
When using Assist, only False Swipe can be called (since Assist fails with Ditto's Transform).
Optional: Equip the second Smeargle with an Exp. Share to gain experience from Ditto captures.
Avoid using Exp. Reamplifier, as it would distribute experience to Dittos in your party.
DO NOT INCLUDE ANY OTHER POKÉMON IN YOUR TEAM! (If adding others, they must exclusively know False Swipe. Any extraneous moves risk breaking the Assist/Spore loop.)

    Smeargle @ Safety Goggles
    Ability: Technician
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Adamant Nature
    - Spore (Max PP)
    - Assist (Max PP)

    Smeargle
    - False swipe
    - Assist
    - Thief / Covet

    HOW TO WORK
    Spoiler
    Turn 1: Use Assist
    Turn 2: Use Spore
Spam Dusk Ball. If it wakes up, use Spore again.

    Pro tips:
After catching 15 consecutive Dittos, switch to Repeat Balls (cheaper with same capture rate). The maximum capture bonus (2.5×) activates after 15 consecutive captures.
    Wild Ditto will fail when:
Trying to use Assist after Transformation (no allies to call).
Attempting Spore after Transformation (blocked by Safety Goggles).
Keep Leppa Berries shortcutted to restore PP and avoid Pokémon Center visits.
If the wild Ditto has been asleep for 3 turns and your previous attempts with Dusk Ball or Repeat Ball have failed, throw a Dream Ball, since on the third turn it has a 100% capture probability.
If for some reason you reach turn 7 and still can't catch it, start throwing Timer Balls.
If the wild Ditto attacked first this turn and is the same level as one of your party members, switch to Smeargle for that Ditto and throw a Level Ball, as it would have a 100% capture rate if Ditto is at 1 HP and asleep. The disadvantage is that it adds 1 more turn due to the switch. It is important that the wild Ditto attacked first to ensure it won’t wake up when you switch.

    IN CASE OF LOUDRED SHINY

    Spoiler
In case a shiny Loudred appears in a horde, I recommend that the Smeargle in your party (not the leader) have this moveset:
    Full ATK and HP
    - False Swipe
    - Assist
    - Thief / Covet
When it appears, switch to one of the Dittos you've caught (it will have 1 HP and be asleep), and after it's defeated, switch to the aforementioned Smeargle. This way, Smeargle will enter a clean turn. However, if a horde with a shiny Loudred appears and you haven't captured any Dittos yet, do the same.
You'll have the move Thief (or Covet) at your disposal, which will eliminate the rest of the Loudreds, and with Assist, you can use the Spore move that our other Smeargle has.
Thief, Covet, and Assist are moves that can't be summoned by Assist, so the strategy isn't at risk.

    GENERAL ADVANTAGES
    Spoiler
Catch Ditto in 3 turns (ideally).
When Ditto transforms into Smeargle and fails to use Assist or Spore, we avoid move animations, speeding up the process.
Budget build: A Smeargle with Spore or False Swipe costs around $2K on the GTL. To teach it Assist, we can use a Skitty priced around $3K on the GTL. The Safety Goggles are the most expensive part of this setup, costing around $50K, which is still a low investment.

    ADVANTAGES OVER OTHER METHODS
    Spoiler
    VS Classic Breloom Method
Takes one turn less (with the Breloom method we use Substitute + False Swipe + Spore + Throw Poké Ball).
Fewer animations and texts by avoiding the use of Substitute and healing every turn (Breloom heals every turn with its Antidote ability + Toxic Orb after using Substitute), which means faster captures.
VS method using other False Swipe and Assist users
Although it is also an excellent choice, this method systematically eliminates Ditto’s attack animation after transforming. When it transforms, Ditto will try to use Assist or Spore, and here lies the key advantage:
If it uses Assist → it automatically fails (no animation).
If it uses Spore → the Goggles block the effect (avoiding damage and animation).
This reduces 3-5 seconds per move compared to methods without Goggles. Without the Goggles method, the wild Ditto would only fail when using Assist, but the animation and damage of False Swipe would be normal, increasing the capture time.
Our method is easily accessible and much cheaper. These are some drawbacks of using other False Swipe/Assist users:
Only four Pokémon (besides Smeargle) can learn False Swipe and Assist: Meowth, Persian, Sneasel, and Weavile. Although this is not a problem, the situation becomes complicated when teaching Assist to any of these Pokémon, since they learn it as an egg move. This means we necessarily have to breed one of those Pokémon or find the right one on the GTL.
Prices are not very economical: a Sneasel with Assist costs at least $15K and a Meowth $80K (misleading price, since apparently no one usually teaches Assist to a Meowth just to sell it. The reference price is for a Adamant Meowth with 31 ATK IV). There are no comparable samples on the GTL for Persian and Weavile that include the Assist move.
VS methods using Pay Day and Heal Pulse
Like in the other methods, the main advantage lies in eliminating animations, drastically reducing the capture time for each Ditto.
We avoid the risk of the wild Ditto attacking us only with Pay Day until it weakens our Smeargle.

    DISADVANTAGES
    Spoiler

Method not suitable for someone just starting the game, as it requires having defeated the E4. Basically, progressing through the entire Hoenn story up to this point.

Sometimes the capture fails when throwing Poké Balls, which slows down the process.
Ditto can wake up, requiring Spore to be used again.

HOW TO TEACH ASSIST TO SMEARGLE
    Spoiler
I recommend teaching it through a Skitty, which can be found in the Hoenn region, specifically on Route 116 (Rare, LV 8) and learns Assist at level 31. In the GTL it has a price close to $3K.
Other options would be using Purrloin, Liepard, Glameow, or Purugly.
You can also use any other Pokémon that has learned Assist through an egg move.
To teach it to our Smeargle, you must be in a double battle and use Sketch targeting the Pokémon that uses Assist. I suggest equipping Smeargle with a Lagging Tail to ensure it moves last and does not miss Sketch.

HOW TO OBTAIN THE SAFETY GOGGLES

    Spoiler
In the GTL you can buy them for a price close to $50K. You can also exchange them for 4,800 BP.
    Places to exchange with BP:
    Kanto: Trainer Tower
    Hoenn: Battle Frontier
Unova: Nimbasa City (Battle Subway - Gear Station)

    Key Points
    All samples lasted 1 hour.
The approximate time for a perfect catch is 40 seconds.
Each failed Poke Ball costs about 20 seconds.
Each appearance of a wild Pokémon other than Ditto represents a loss of 10 seconds.
The strings mod used for sample 3 is the Bills Strings mod (source).
The average time to catch a Ditto includes encounters with non-Ditto Pokémon, Poke Ball failures, and moving to generate wild Pokémon appearances.
Sample 3 has a higher investment than the previous ones but compensates with the catch of more Dittos.
Due to market volatility in the GTL and the sale of Ditto boxes, profit calculations are not made, although the samples provide all the necessary data to perform them.
Hope this helps! If you know a better farming method or have suggestions to improve this one, please let me know :D

    EQUIPO
    Spoiler

    Smeargle @ Gafas Protectoras
    Habilidad: Experto
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Naturaleza Firme
    - Espora (Max PP)
    - Ayuda (Max PP)

    Smeargle
    - Falsotortazo
    - Ayuda
    - Ladrón / Antojo

    CÓMO FUNCIONA
    Spoiler
    Turno 1 usas Ayuda
    Turno 2 usas Espora

    CÓMO ENSEÑARLE AYUDA A SMEARGLE
    Spoiler
Otras opciones serían usando a Purrloin, Liepard, Glameow o Purugly.

    Hoenn: Frente Batalla
Teselia: Ciudad Mayólica (Metro Batalla - Estación Radial)

    Aspectos a destacar

    Hi everyone!

I searched the forum and didn't find this farming method, which might be in some YouTube video. In short, it's simple and I believe it's optimal for Ditto farming. It is fast and efficient.

    Spoiler
    Region: Hoenn

    - Assist (Max PP)

    Smeargle

    HOW TO WORK

    Key Insights from the Sample
Ditto Supremacy: 58.1% encounter rate (~3 out of 5 appearances).
    Cost Dynamics:
Repeat Ball accounted for 65.8% of total spending ($61,250/$93,050).
    Dusk + Dream Balls: 34.2% combined ($31,800).
    Time Optimization: 1.111 min/capture (66.7 seconds)
Berry Efficiency: 1 Leppa every ~7.7 captures (7 berries/54 Dittos).
The lead Smeargle was level 100 and the bench Smeargle did NOT have the Exp. Share equipped.
Ditto capture times include moving to spawn the wild encounter as well as encounters with Whismur, Loudred, and Loudred hordes.
We added a fixed cost of $800 for each Zanama Berry to determine the value per Ditto caught.

    Smeargle @ Gafas Protectoras
    Habilidad: Experto
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Naturaleza Firme
    - Espora (Max PP)
    - Ayuda (Max PP)

    Smeargle
    - Falsotortazo
    - Ayuda
    - Ladrón / Antojo

    CÓMO FUNCIONA
    Spoiler
    Turno 1 usas Ayuda
    Turno 2 usas Espora

    CÓMO ENSEÑARLE AYUDA A SMEARGLE
    Spoiler
Otras opciones serían usando a Purrloin, Liepard, Glameow o Purugly.

    Hoenn: Frente Batalla
Teselia: Ciudad Mayólica (Metro Batalla - Estación Radial)

    Aspectos a destacar

    Hi everyone!

I searched the forum and didn't find this farming method, which might be in some YouTube video. In short, it's simple and I believe it's optimal for Ditto farming. It is fast and efficient.

    HOW TO WORK

    EQUIPO
    Spoiler

    CÓMO ENSEÑARLE AYUDA A SMEARGLE
    Spoiler
Otras opciones serían usando a Purrloin, Liepard, Glameow o Purugly.

    Aspectos a destacar

Several things impact encounter rates, either increasing or reducing the odds of encounters. Of these different methods, most do not fully stop or guarantee and encounter like repels or sweet scent hording. Some of these, like swarm or stench, have a percentage on their in game tool-tip. Others, Keen Eye or Cleanse Tag, do not have any number on their tool-tip. Another unknown number is the base encounter rate per step. (The base games had variance also regard the tile set being grass, water, cave, ect as well as running and biking. The tileset difference is something I am interested in testing for the base numbers to see if it's universal, different between regions, different between tilesets, or if there are regional tileset numbers). The following is a 2,540 steps recorded for each ability/item/held item combo that shares a similar attribute outside of combat with more than 20k recorded steps of data collected. The purpose of this post is to compare the below listed impacts on encounter rates to predict the order of their impact from most increasing to most decreasing.

The following methods were tested with a low data pool of 2,540 steps per test:
-Keen Eye (Intimidate has the same out of combat effect)
-Stench (Quick Feet has a 10% reduction while White Smoke has the same 15% reduction as Stench)
    -Cleanse Tag
-Swarm (No Guard and Arena Trap have the same 10% increased encounter rate)
-Lure (the 10% increased encounter rate and also has a chance of spawning double battles. Premium Lures were not tested, only lures from pokemarts)

For the test, Desert Underpass was used, a cave tile set in Hoenn. The total length is 128 units, result in a down and back lap being 254 steps. This is one of the longest straight runs in PokeMMO for encounters. Each method was tested with 10 laps, further testing is needed but I will be paying folks a predetermined rate of pokeyen for data collection that want to help fill out the rest of the data. Each method has a total of 2540 units/steps tied to each, it is expected that roughly double to quadruple the amount of steps should be sufficient for a confidence interval, but todays data will at least let folks know of rough efficiency numbers, the power of swarm abilities tied with lure, and the similar usage rates of keen eye abilities and stench abilities tied with cleanse tag.

    Results:
-Lure and Swarm: +46.67% Increase in encounters [19.24 steps per encounter] (132 Encounters. 33 double battles)
-Lure: N/A (two failed attempts, not doing another attempt today)
-Swarm: +26.67% increase in encounters [22.28 steps per encounter] (114 Encounters)
-Base Encounter: (90 Encounters) [28.2 steps per encounter] [2.28% odds of getting an encounter]
-Stench: -7.8% Reduction in encounters [30.6 steps per encounter] (83 Encounters)
-Keen Eye: -8.9% Reduction in encounters [30.97 steps per encounter] (82 Encounters)
-Cleanse Tag: -15.6% Reduction in encounters [33.42 steps per encounter] (76 Encounters)
-Stench and Cleanse Tag: -18.9% Reduction in encounters[34.79 steps per encounter] (73 Encounters)
-Keen Eye and Cleanse Tag: -20% Reduction in encounters [35.28 steps per encounter] (72 Encounters)

    Analysis

Keen Eye and Stench and Cleanse Tag
From the data collected, Keen Eye and Intimidate are most likely close to a -15% Reduction in Encounters like Stench and White Smoke. It is quite possible though that they are closer to to the -10% reduction as quick feet, as the data is still quite incomplete to properly confirm but still enough to give us an idea.

Cleanse Tag is definitely worthwhile with an ability factored in or in the absence of an ability that reduces encounters. Cleanse tag is expected to be close to a -15% Reduction in encounters. Similar to before, the data is quite incomplete but this effect is still expected to be stronger than Stench or Keen Eye.

The usage of these reduction abilities and a Cleanse Tag appear to stack with diminishing returns. Since Keen Eye and Stench are predicted to be the same rates, and Cleanse Tag containing a more powerful reduction, the combined impact is only so much greater than the base Cleanse Tag impact rather than a direct stacking of both at -23-25% reduction.

    Swarm and Lures
Swarm, similar to Stench, already has the given change in encounters, being a +10% Increase for Swarm. Lures also have an encoded value of a +10 Increase in Encounters. The two numbers appear to directly stack rather than stacking with diminishing returns when both a Swarm ability and a Lure is in use.

Server Side Numbers: This section is more for fun and simply theory

As a note, things are looked at as steps to an encounter, this means that a horde or double battle encounter only counted as one encounter since they are determined once an encounter is made. A dev at one point confirmed on the forums somewhere that Horde encounters are at a 3% encounter rate. As this post is about total steps to an encounter and the impact of held items, abilities, and non-premium lures, hordes are not a part of any focus in the post. I'm sure others have found the rates for a double battle to occur while using a lure, please respond with a link or the source for it so I can include it in the post. The increase or Decrease in the results is relative to the Base value collected. If anyone wants to help collect data, please let me know
  15. Heart
    Yo!
This is a guide on how to egghunt riolu. After alot of testing and gathering knowledge from other experienced players, this is the final strategy I came up with in Order to reclaim my shiny riolu.
Riolu is a baby pokemon, so it is very difficult to egghunt it since you need to evolve all the riolus to lucarios before you can create your next batch of eggs.
Many people immediately give up the thought of doing it and go into the safari. As someone who has lost a riolu in the safari before, I can definitely appreciate the advantages of the safari and this guide is not meant to change everyones mind about safari hunting being a viable method. My goal is to give you information and make egghunting more accessible for everyone by showing you a great method, that is far from common knowledge. In my personal opinion egghunting it is harder but faster, while safari hunting is easier to do (in the sense that it is more braindead) but takes longer.
I will make 4 sections in this guide.
Section 1 will be the chainbreeding method. This method is aimed for those that only have 5 alpha/pumpkid riolus because of their price.
Section 2 will be the non chainbreeding method. I will call it the regular method. Here I will share my method to grind egging and evolving around 10 boxes of riolus each time.
Section 3 will be filled with alot of useful, but very niche tips and tricks that many people probably did not know about and that were used in this guide.
Section 4 will include a comparison to safari hunting it either with lure or repel.

    First the requirements:

    Spoiler
    mandatory:
    - soothebells (ideally tradeable ones): you will need atleast 5 of them and I would recommend more if you are not chainbreeding. Personally I used 60 soothebells to cover one box.
    - luxury balls (send every ball that comes before luxury balls in your bag to an alt account, so that your eggs automatically spawn in a luxury ball without the need to select them!)
    - exp reamplifier permanently active
    - around 200m if you go odds (24300 with dono + charms)
    - happiness berries
-> I recommend using aguav berry for the natures brave, sassy, relaxed, quite and mago berry for every other nature
-> don't worry, we will only use one single berry per riolu. This is hyper efficient.
    - a sweet scent horde killer, so you can have 5 riolus in your party at once. I used teddiursa and pikachu (depending on the spot)
    - mt. silver unlocked
-> If you don't have mt. silver, you can only do the chainbreeding method (with donator status active at all times)

    highly recommended:
    - donator status active at all times (not just for egging, but for it is useful for leveling/evolving too)
    - shiny charms for every batch of eggs
    - only ever use dittos to breed, regardless of gender. We want aurasphere on all riolu at birth. This is not possible with male breeders, because the riolus will slowly learn other
eggmoves and this makes your life harder. More details in section 3
    - 2nd character on the same account to utilize the account box

additionally recommended if you don't chainbreed
    - alot of max repels for convenience (max repels are the most cost efficient out of the repels if you divide price by steps)
    - alot of exp charms (+100%)

    Section1: The Chainbreeding Method.
(If you dislike the Non chainbreeding method, you can also do this one)

    Spoiler
    Method with donator status active:
    - hatch eggs into luxury balls
    - give them soothebells
    - rapidash horde (route 12 unova) - kill the horde - logout (before dealing with the lvl up moves) - reconnect (continue session: YES!)
    - rapidash horde - kill the horde - logout (before dealing with the lvl up moves) - reconnect (continue session: YES!)
    - happiness berry - fully logout (without horde) - login
    - rapidash horde (route 12 unova) - kill the horde - evolve all riolus
    - breed 5 new riolus with dittos

    Method without donator status active:
    - hatch eggs into luxury balls
    - give them soothebells
    - seaking/golduck horde (mt silver water right after the cave entrance) - kill the horde - logout (before dealing with the lvl up moves) - reconnect (continue session: YES!)
    - seaking/golduck horde - kill the horde - logout (before dealing with the lvl up moves) - reconnect (continue session: YES!)
    - happiness berry - fully logout (without horde) - login
    - rapidash horde (route 12 unova) - kill the horde - evolve all riolus
    - breed 5 new riolus with dittos

    Notes:
    - remember that you can only evolve at daytime and morning
    - you can not change the order of anything. Even the happiness berry has to be given right then. (More details in Section 3)
    - After you do this a few times, you will be hit with a 10 minute horde ban, unable to continue for 10 minutes.
-> If you are chainbreeding, this shouldn't be much of an issue here.
-> If you are not chainbreeding, this means that you have to wait 10 minutes after evolving around 25 riolus, which is why I don't like this method for non chain breeding.
    - for more details on why I do it this way, see Section 3

Section 2: The regular method for non chain breeding (this is what I did). This is what you should go for if you want to do a full batch of eggs.
    Spoiler
For this method you need to have donator status active at all times and 2 exp charms (+100%) per batch
(advantage of this method is, that you only need 2 hordes, instead of 3 to evolve 5 riolus and it is in general much faster,
disadvantage: it is way more complicated than the chainbreeding method and requires you to have mt silver as well as a 2nd character on the same account)

    - hatch all eggs into luxury balls (I did around 10 boxes, so 600 riolu eggs)
    - give them soothebells (I gave one full box soothebells, so 60 soothebells)
    - put every riolu on your alt account via account box, except one box
    - send your alt all the happiness berries you have (mago/aguav)
    - use max repels now, we will walk from pc to this spot alot now and don't want any meaningless encounters
    - go to mt silver to the golduck/seaking spot in the water after you enter the cave
    - pop exp charm (+100%)
    - horde - kill the horde - logout (before dealing with the lvl up moves) - reconnect (continue session: YES!)
    - your 5 riolus should now be lvl 16
    - use dig and teleport ocarina and take out 5 new riolus and repeat
    - do this until you get the 10minute horde ban (usually it should happen after 9-11 reconnects (it is inconsistent))
    - put all the lvl 16 riolus on your account box
    - log into your alt account, give all the lvl 16 riolus a happiness berry (aguav to sassy, relaxed, brave, quiet natures and mago to all others) and store them on your alt for now
    - switch the soothe bells from the lvl 16 ones to fresh lvl 1 ones and put those into the account box
    - after the 10minute ban passed, log back into your main and do the same thing again until the exp charm is fully over
-> (if you have a sweet scenter on your alt account, you can use that to easily check how many minutes of the 10min ban are left aswell)
-> (I usually bring around 6 boxes to lvl 16 in one hour this way, so I use 2 exp charms and every riolu is lvl 16) - for details on why lvl 16 is important, see section 3
    - this alt account usage is the only way to fully utilize an exp charm without waiting 10 minutes logged in, wasting the exp charm time and potentially alot more money.
And while this does sound very complicated, it isn't if you get used to it. And the advantage is, that it is very fast in comparison to the method in section 1
    - now you should have 10 boxes of lvl 16 riolus who all received one happiness berry
    - now go the rapidash spot in unova route 12 and kill one rapidash horde to evolve 5 riolu
    - after you evolve all of them, create a new batch (only using dittos)

Note: remember that you can only evolve at daytime and morning

Section 3: The reasoning for everything
    Spoiler
Now this section will have alot of answers to alot of questions you may have.
I believe there is also alot of very unique information that many people didn't know about yet. So here we go.
I will do a bit of a Q and A to answer most of it and at the bottom post some other random stuff I used or found out.

Question 1: What does logging out and then reconnecting to the session even do?
    Spoiler
It lets you finish the horde a little bit quicker but more importantly skips all the level up moves that your 5 riolus attempt to learn.
If you were to manually not learn like 5 level up moves per riolu, this hunt would take a few years longer lol.

Question 2: Why do you logout without an horde encounter and regularly log back in in the chainbreeding method?
    Spoiler
This is so that you can "delete" the level up move queue. After you logout-reconnect alot to skip level up moves, you are not completely done with skipping them.
This is because if you then do one more horde to evolve them without logout-reconnecting, the riolus will attempt to learn every move that you previously skipped again.
So if you go from lvl 16 to 18 in the horde, it will still try to learn the lvl 1-16 moves that you previously skipped.
By logging out and logging back in regularly without any horde encounter, you can just delete this queue. If you then do another horde to evolve them, they will not try to relearn every move that you previously skipped.

Another way to "delete" the level up queue is tossing the riolus into your storage for 1 hour. This is what we are doing in the non chainbreed method while we bring the other riolus to level 16.

Question 3,4 and 5: Why is level 16 important? Why does the move aurasphere matter? Why can I not use male field breeders for the female lucarios?
    Spoiler
After lvl 16, the only move riolu will still attempt to learn is aurasphere after evolving but our goal is to keep that move on every new riolu baby, so that it will not ask to learn it since it already knows it. (We want to evolve at exactly lvl 18)
So this means that lvl 16 is the last lvl where we need to skip lvl up moves with the logout-reconnect trick. For chainbreeders, this takes 2 hordes. For the non chain breeders, who use an exp charm (+100%) this only takes a single golduck/seaking horde. After this our riolu is basically ready to evolve with no more lvl up moves in our way.
The reason for not using male field breeders is because over time our riolus will learn more and more egg and tm moves from the male breeders and this makes it so that some riolus will stop having the move aurasphere at birth. And this then cause the issue that we need to learn the move at every time we evolve them, costing more time.

Question 6: Why are you using exactly one happiness berry per riolu?
    Spoiler
This is the perfect sweet spot. The absolute minimum of hordes we would need to evolve the riolus while not dealing with a ton of lvl up moves is 2 (with exp charm) and 3 (with the chainbreed method).
One horde to skip all the lvl up moves (two for chainbreeding) and one horde to evolve them.
And the only way that this is perfectly possible, is if we use exactly one happiness berry.
Using more is inefficient, since we still need the same amount of hordes and it is way too expensive in the long run.
And using no happiness berry at all results in the riolus evolving at lvl 22 instead of lvl 18 and then we require 5-6 total hordes instead of 2-3 so it is way worse in terms of time since we will also get hit with more 10minute horde bans.

Question 7: What is important when buying Lucarios to start?
    Spoiler
You ideally want to buy lucarios who were caught in the wild, because you don't want them to have any egg moves or tms. We want our baby riolus to learn aurasphere every time.
If you buy riolus, make sure to buy ones that don't have many eggmoves or tms.
Also it is way more painful to evolve lvl 40 riolus into lucarios, so I advise to either buy lvl 1 riolus or lucarios.

Question 8: Can you use other hordes?
    Spoiler
For the chainbreeders, I don't have tested it enough. All I know is that 3 rapidashes work for chainbreeders with donator status and 2 golduck/seakin + 1 rapidash work for non donator status.

And for non chainbreeders who want to use an exp charm (+100%), you can not use any other horde for the first one (golduck/seaking). It is the only horde that will get your riolus to lvl 16, so you can not use any other one for the first horde. As for the second, you could use the purugly/roselia horde in route 229 north of resort area, but sometimes your riolus will not reach lvl 18 since a combination of low lvl seakings + low lvl roselias give too little exp. But in those cases you can just do one single encounter instead of a full horde and evolve them all. Other spots might also work here but I don't have enough testing on them.
The goal is to not hit lvl 19/20, since you don't want to deal with lucario learning mach punch/force palm.
That is why the combination of lvl 16 (to skip the lvl up moves) and lvl 18 (to evolve them) is perfect and you achieve that with the methods I described above.

Question 9: Why can I not use the happiness berries at level 1 for convenience?
    Spoiler
This is a very interesting question and it lead me to mess up one of my batches.
I found out that if you give your lvl 1 riolus a happiness berry and then do the hordes to reach lvl 16, you will end up with less happiness than if you were to do it the other way around.
Here are the exact numbers on my notepad:

This is specifically for the non chainbreeding strategy but it applies to both.
You can see that if you give the berry first, it results in the following horde giving less happiness so that you end up at 85% happiness at lvl 18 instead of the required 87% to evolve the riolus. While this is certainly an interesting mechanic, the fix is simple. Just get the riolus to lvl 16 first, then give them the berry and then do the next horde.
I think the mechanic works this way:
"If your Pokemon is happier, it will gain less happiness when leveling up"
or something like that. The berry itself gives the same happiness, you only gain less while leveling up.

Question 10: If I don't have an alt character on the same account, can I still do the regular method?
    Spoiler
Yes, you can. However, since you need to manually change soothe bells on your main, you will lose charm time and end up doing less riolus per exp charm. It's not a big deal tho.
But you have to stay logged out of your account whenever you are just waiting for the 10minute horde ban to pass. Otherwise you are just wasting charm time.
If you want to gtl flip/farm dittos etc while waiting, I really recommend an alt account. Otherwise just do the chainbreeding method in section 1.

Question 11: If I pass the riolus to an alt via account box, doesn't the happiness reset to 19%? This happens when trading to a friend.
    Spoiler
No, interestingly it doesn't reset to 19%. You can use the account box to technically do all the evolving on your alt, or you can even do a mix if you want to.
For example, you could get all the riolus to lvl 16 on your alt (maybe to not spam your teamchat with the reconnected messages) and then trade them to your main with the account box to evolve all of them.

Question 12: Does it need to be Mago+Aguav berry?
    Spoiler
No, any happiness increasing berries will work. I liked this combo because it was convenient, not to worry about the evs that the hordes gave me.
If you are doing the donator status chain breeding method, you can also use mago berry on modest, timid, bold, calm natures + tamato berry on everything else.
This might be cheaper but I only recommend doing this, if you only do the donator status strat with 3 rapidash hordes, since they all give speed evs unlike seaking/golduck giving different evs.

    Other random tips:
    Spoiler
    - If you logout mid horde fight and stay logged out, your charm time gets used up. If you really need to go and don't want to waste charm time, reconnect back to the session and then
       logout normally.
    - when passing down moves to offspring, the baby prioritizes egg moves/tm moves of the parents. So in order to guarantee keeping aurasphere for all baby riolus, we want to use dittos
for all breeds, regardless of gender
    - for absolute efficiency: when logout-reconnecting, logout as soon as the horde loses hp to do it as quickly as possible, except at the last logout before you get the 10min horde ban.
-> The reason for that is, if you logout too fast on the last one, you will be in front of the pokecenter with lvl 1 riolus (basically the horde didn't count). But if you do it slowly for the last
one, your riolus will be lvl 16 like all the other ones too.
    - happiness when trading:
-> if the traded pokemon has less than 19%, it will keep its happiness
-> if the traded pokemon has atleast 19%, it will reset its happiness back to 19%.
-> none of this applies to trading to your alt account via account box, the happiness simply carries over

Section 4: Egghunting vs Safari? The numbers.

    Spoiler
Okay so in this section, we will look at the cost and the required time (in hours) to get a shiny riolu in 3 different methods, namely egg hunting it, using lures in the safari and
using repel in the safari. If you didn't know, in the johto safari, you can repel trick all the lure encounters, so in this case with a lvl 32 lead, you can only see riolus in the johto safari.
I will do alot of math in this section, so if you only care about the resulting numbers, just look at the last part.

Egghunting (donator status + shiny charms)
    Spoiler
    First the average time:
It took me 1h to create one batch (600 eggs), 8h to hatch that batch and around 10h to evolve that batch, let's go with 11h for easier math.
So we get 20h to fully encounter 600 riolus and start the next batch.
So if we go with the shiny charm + donator status odds of 24300, that will be 40,5 batches.
So we get in total 40,5 x 20 = 810 hours for the hunt

    Now the average cost:
We need one ditto (5k), one luxury ball (700-1k) and one happiness berry (800-900) per riolu.
I usually paid around 700 per luxury ball and 800 per berry, so in total this makes 6,5k per riolu.
    6500 x 24300 = 157.950.000.
This is not all though, we also need 41 shiny charms,
    so 41 x 220.000 = 9.020.000
and if we play 9h per day, we need exactly 3 30d donator statuses.
(If you grind less, that just means you need a few more 30 donos, but it doesn't add too much more to the cost)
    So we get 3 x 3.100.000 = 9.300.000

    In total, the cost is 157.950.000 + 9.020.000 + 9.300.000 = 176.270.000.
If we also include buying some riolu/lucario boxes, you can just say 180m is the total average cost.

Lure Safari hunting (with donator status)
(In the johto safari, you should always use lure, if your target is the rotational pokemon, because the lure encounter is also the rotational pokemon. This means that in this case riolus encounter rate increases from 10% to 15% in the johto safari. It is definitely worth it to use lures)
    Spoiler
    First the average time:
You will see around 40-45 riolus per hour. For easier math, let's go with 40.
This means with donator status, you need 24300/40 = 607,5 hours to encounter one shiny riolu!
Let's just say 608 hours for easier math.
Now the math doesn't stop there sadly. If you see the shiny riolu in daytime, you have a sucessrate of around 30%.
And if you see the riolu in nighttime, you have a successrate of 50%.
This means that we have to divide our hours with 0,3 or 0,5 respectively.
    608/0,3 = 2027
608/0,5 = 1216 hours if you only hunt at night.
And so if we just take the average of those, we get (2027 + 1216)/2 = 1621,5h
Obviously you could just be lucky and be done with your first encounter in 608h on average, but for the sake of the math, it's more logical to go with 1622h or
1216h if you only hunt at night.

    Now for the average cost:
Since you are using lures, you will get to around 20k per hour if we include the stacking safari fees. (This is a rough estimate)
We end up with 608 x 20.000 = 12.160.000, so around 12m to encounter one shiny riolu.
In Average, we end up with 1622 x 20.000 = 32.440.000, so around 32m to catch one if you hunt at any time.
and 1216 x 20.000 = 24.320.000, so around 24m if you only hunt at night.

Repel Safari hunting (lvl 32 lead) (with donator status)
    Spoiler
    First the average time:
You will see around 55 riolus per hour in the Safari when repel tricking with a lvl 32 lead.
This means with donator status, you need 24300/55 = 441,8 hours to encounter one shiny riolu!
Let's just say 442 hours for easier math.
Now the math doesn't stop there sadly. If you see the shiny riolu in daytime, you have a sucessrate of around 30%.
And if you see the riolu in nighttime, you have a successrate of 50%.
This means that we have to divide our hours with 0,3 or 0,5 respectively.
    442/0,3 = 1473
442/0,5 = 884 hours if you only hunt at night.
And so if we just take the average of those, we get (1473 + 884)/2 = 1178,5h
Obviously you could just be lucky and be done with your first encounter in 442h on average, but for the sake of the math, it's more logical to go with 1179h or
884h if you only hunt at night.

    Now for the average cost:
Since you are burning through Max Repels (which are the most cost efficient, if you divide the price by its steps), you will get to 120k per hour if we include the stacking safari fees.
We end up with 442 x 120.000 = 53.040.000, so around 53m to encounter one shiny riolu.
In Average, we end up with 1179 x 120.000 = 141.480.000, so around 141m to catch one if you hunt at any time.
and 884 x 120.000 = 106.080.000, so around 106m if you only hunt at night.

    Final Comparison in Numbers:
    Spoiler
Egghunting (with donator status and shiny charms):
810hours and around 180m on average

Safari - Lure (with donator status):
1622 hours and around 32m on average if you hunt at any time and
1216 hours and around 24m on average if you only hunt at nighttime.
Number to just encounter one: 608 hours and 12m

Safari - Repel lvl 32 lead (with donator status):
1179 hours and around 141m on average if you hunt at any time and
884 hours and around 106m on average if you only hunt at nighttime.
Number to just encounter one: 442 hours and 53m.

Do with these numbers whatever you want. In my opinion, egghunting is way more reliable and consistent since you also don't need to wait for riolu day (which has a 1/6 chance every ingame day, so in average we should see 1 riolu day every 1,5 real life days, so 6h of riolu hunting every 36h.
Both Safari methods are cheaper, with lure being alot cheaper. But egging is faster than the safari methods.
I do have to say, as someone who got riolu in an egg, I think the safari ball is a big flex ^^

Now this is one last bit of yapping, where I explain how I got to the success rates of riolu at day and at night, because in my opinion, this is also not that common knowledge.
    Spoiler
I don't include images here, since they get deleted for some reason, but you can follow the process if you want to make sure.
So there is a site, that everyone uses to get the success rate of the heartgold/soulsilver safari pokemon, but it does not have the success rate at night. So I did a bit of puzzling around and finally got an acceptable conclusion. I'll show you through my thought process:
So from this site https://github.com/ProfessorRex/HGSS-Safari-Zone/blob/main/Johto_Safari_Zone_Output.txt , we can press ctrl+f and type "riolu" to find out that the catchrate of riolu is 75, which equals a 16.78% catchrate. The site also gives us clear odds of success: 29.81%. I just go with 30% for easier math.
So now what's missing is the odds of success at nighttime. Here is what I did to get it.
I used a regular gen 3 catchrate calculator in google to get both catchrates, one for a regular full hp riolu and one for a sleeping one:
    https://www.dragonflycave.com/calculators/gen-iii-iv-catch-rate
So we can see that the catchrate is 33.69% now instead of 16.78%.
So my idea was simple, now i just went on the same site from earlier to look for any other pokemon who has the same flee rate as riolu but also a catchrate of 33.69%.
I found azurill, which fits the criteria perfectly. So go again to https://github.com/ProfessorRex/HGSS-Safari-Zone/blob/main/Johto_Safari_Zone_Output.txt
and this time, press ctrl+f and type "azurill".
If we compare flee rate and odds to flee, it's the same as riolu. And since the catchrate is 33.69%, that just means that the odds of success for azurill should be the same for a sleeping riolu. So we get to 51.71% and I just used 50% for easier math. That's enough yapping xD

And this is it about the guide!
I know this was a very specific and niche guide, but I'm sure it will help some nerd out there who wants to torture himself for some yellow pixels, just like me

Lastly I want to thank a few people who helped me alot. They helped me with providing information, testing some stuff for me and even evolving some riolus for me.
    So thank you @Noonan@undel@RRocketBossSaya@QueenMaisie@dragoonair @LuukyPuuky@WoomyNation

    Hello everyone!
Team Porygon [PORY] wants to share with the community these Raid related info graphics, hoping they could help you get through any upcoming Raid Battle.
These graphics contain simple lists of the best Pokémons for each type, ordered by the maximum damage they can output while also considering other possible PvE or PvP uses.
As a general suggestion, every Pokémon listed (outside of those belonging to the Support group) should have an Attack or Special Attack boosting nature.
Additionally, we have created a recap for the most useful items to use to defeat the Raid Bosses.
(Due to file size limit, the other graphics will be posted in the comment section of this post)

Hi! Great guide! I have a theory that I haven't been able to fully verify. I read in the comments that the strategy doesn't work for some, while others do despite following the steps mentioned here. I think it may be due to the Pokémon's OTs. Personally, I use another technique (Poliwrath + Dragonite + Chandelure) that works well for me 99% of the time, while Ho-Oh changes attacks about 1%. These Pokémon have my OT, and when I've tried the technique with the same Pokémon, same Natures, same EVs, with almost identical IVs, but with a OT that isn't mine, Ho-Oh always uses different moves and ends up winning.
I haven't been able to corroborate this theory, but it may be the reason why Ho-Oh changes its moves and ends up defeating us on some occasions, regardless of the strategy we follow.

StringsForWorld is a mod/String designed to enhance the gaming experience. Its main goal is to reduce the amount of visible text for players, optimizing Speed in some parts of the content. Additionally, it includes adjustments in location names and extra elements to make the game experience much more comfortable. Some locations come in both English and Spanish, making Farming a bit easier and also helping Spanish-speaking players.

    Hi everyone!

I searched the forum and didn't find this farming method, which might be in some YouTube video. In short, it's simple and I believe it's optimal for Ditto farming. It is fast and efficient.

    TEAM

    Spoiler

    Smeargle @ Gafas Protectoras
    Habilidad: Experto
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
    Naturaleza Firme
    - Espora (Max PP)
    - Ayuda (Max PP)

    Smeargle
    - Falsotortazo
    - Ayuda
    - Ladrón / Antojo

    CÓMO FUNCIONA
    Spoiler
    Turno 1 usas Ayuda
    Turno 2 usas Espora

    CÓMO ENSEÑARLE AYUDA A SMEARGLE
    Spoiler
Otras opciones serían usando a Purrloin, Liepard, Glameow o Purugly.

    Hoenn: Frente Batalla
Teselia: Ciudad Mayólica (Metro Batalla - Estación Radial)

    Aspectos a destacar

This is the only up-to-date guide that will help you maximize your Pokédex to the fullest extent possible.

The process is split into 5 stages, approximately ranked by difficulty
    STAGE 1
    Wild Pokémon
This stage serves to grant you access to Mt. Silver.
you can skip this stage if you already have it unlocked.

To complete this stage you need to:
    Have all the regions unlocked.
    Catch/Evolve all the Wild Pokémon.
Revive and evolve all the Fossil Pokémon.
Find and catch all the Phenomenon exclusive Pokémon.

    Wild Pokémon
this step is basically; check Pokedex for wild locations, go there, catch then evolve.
Make sure to bring a catching pokemon like Smeargle/Breloom/Parasect and enough pokeballs.

If you cant check wild locations because you havent seen the mon yet I recommend using:
    https://pokemmohub.com/tools/pokedex/

    Baby Pokémon
These mons can be found in the Wild using Lures.
But you could also breed their parents down with their correspoding incense to save a lot of time and Lures.

All incenses can be bought at every daycare.

(budew can be found without lures)

    Fossil Pokémon
You can revive every fossil at any regions laboratory.
You can either buy the fossil you're missing or find it with rock smash + thief

    Phenomenon exclusive Pokémon
These are special tile encounters exclusive to the Unova region.
They are going to take the longest, so try keeping an eye out early on.
I recommend being in a discord server that has active callouts.

    Rustling Grass:
    Dust cloud:
    Rippling Water:
    Shadow:

Once you completed this stage your Pokédex "Caught OT" count should be 602 at minimum.

    STAGE 2
    See-able Legends & Mythicals
This stage serves to complete your Pokedex's "seen" count to the fullest extent possible.
All other see-able Legends/Mythicals that were not listed here will be registered by simply completing the Storylines.

    Cresselia
After beating the Storyline and completing Sinnoh's national dex, you can trigger a side mission in Canalave City, by entering the House on the bottom left.
the son of Sailor Eldritch, who runs the ferry to Iron Island from Canalave City, falls into a sleep from which he cannot be awoken and is plagued by nightmares. To cure his son, the sailor begs the player to take the ferry to Fullmoon Island to get a Lunar Feather.

There, you can interact with Cresselia once to have it registered as seen.

All of them also can be seen by Re-battling the Hoenn Pokemon League (Drake, Phoebe or Wallace)

After completing all of the above (and catching all obtainable Legendaries/Mythicals) your Pokedex's "Seen" count should be 630. And with that your Seen-Dex is fully complete as of now.

    STAGE 3
    Obtainable Legends & Mythicals
This stage serves to get your Pokedex's "Caught OT" count to the highest possible number.

    Roaming Legends
this will take a minimum of 3 months to complete due to them rotating each month.
if you have them registered as seen you can see which one is currently roaming by checking their wild locations.
    otherwise I recommend using https://pokemmo.help/calendar

These are encounterable anywhere in their regions "outdoors" area like on grass and water
with the exception of Raikou and Entei, those are on Grass only.

    Important things to note:
    - You must do single encounters
    - chance to encounter is between 1/1001 - 1/7999.
    - if you fail to catch your monthly encounter, the odds change to 1/500 until the end of the month.
    - They will always be lvl. 50 when you encounter them.
    - Repel-trick is NOT possible.

    KoTH Legends & Myths
Every region has only 1 King of The Hill style Pokémon
meaning that once a player finds it, other players can fight to take it off them. When the Legendary grows bored of its current owner it will return back to the wild and the cycle can repeat.

So to Register every regions KoTH, you can either fight for it once its been found, or find it yourself.
Incase you want to find it yourself I have noted the possible shinies you could get along the way.

    Important things to note:
    - You must do single encounters.
    - chance to encounter is between 1/1001 - 1/7999.
    - catch rate is always close to 100% with any ball.
    - They will always be lvl. 100
    - Repel-tricking is possible.

    Event-Exclusive Mythicals
These Mythicals are obtainable after beating every Raid-Boss of their specific Event.
if you just missed event season, you'll have to wait a long time to complete this. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Halloween
     Darkrai

    Christmas
     Jirachi

    Lunar New Year
     Shaymin

After catching all of the above your Pokédex's "Caught OT" count should be 617.

    STAGE 4
    All Forms
Certain Pokémon can have multiple forms, this Stage will show you how to register them.

    Variant Forms
Gendered variants are not viewable in the Pokedex so we'll disregard them.

    Basculin

    Blue Striped Basculin is Pheno-Exclusive
(or lure on Route 1 water)

    Shellos/Gastrodon

    West/East side specific

    Changeable Forms
you have to use your OT here, otherwise when you sort the dex by pvp tiers, the different forms will show up with blue borders

    Rotom
Change in Rotom's Room, secret location in Sinnoh, Eterna City

    Castform
Lead with weather setters in a fight then switch to your castform.

    Burmy/Wormadam
Engage in any battle with the Burmy as lead in different environments:
Plant Cloak in Grassy or Watery Area
Sand Cloak in Rocky or Sandy Area
Trash Cloak Inside building (Gyms etc)

Note: after you evolve Burmy into Wormadam, it will keep the cloak it evolved with.
You will have to evolve an OT Burmy with each cloak for every Wormadam form.

    Cherrim
Lead with sun-setter then switch to cherrim.

    Darmanitan
Engage in battle with your Hidden ability Darmanitan and make it lose half its HP.

    Shaymin
Use 1000 Gracideas to first unlock its alternative form, then use 25 Gracideas for each form change.

    Seasonal Forms
    This is exclusive to Deerling/Sawsbuck.

You can encounter their Seasonal forms depending on what the season is in Unova, which rotate every real life month.
    Jan - Spring
    Feb - Summer
    Mar - Autumn
    Apr - Winter
    May - Spring
    Jun - Summer
    Jul - Autumn
    Aug - Winter
    Sep - Spring
    Oct - Summer
    Nov - Autumn
    Dec - Winter

    Note:
if you just buy all remaining seasonal forms but you don't have the Spring form Caught OT, the evolution tree will still show as blue
in that case you will just have to wait until spring.

(You dont need to do this for Alpha Deerling/Sawsbuck.)

    Forms of Unown
Here's the fastest way to catch all Unowns:
Go to Solaceon town in Sinnoh and enter Solaceon Ruins from there.

All 28 Unowns can be found in there, some having specific floors.
Here is a Spreadsheet on where each one is:

The Unowns F-R-I-E-N-D are guaranteed encounters but all the others in the alphabet each have a 5% Encounter rate in a random chamber.

After catching the whole alphabet you go to "Maniac Tunnel" in route 214 for the remaining two variants. ? / !
The maniac digs the tunnel as you register more Unowns, in the end it leads to the last chamber.

    Forms of Arceus
Due to Arceus being a King Of The Hill style Legendary Pokémon, you are not able change its Held item as it is a temporary mon.
This isn't a problem for all the other KOTH Legends but in order to Change Arceus form, it needs to hold the different Plates.

So in order to complete this, you would actually need to get a hold of it every time it spawns with a different plate or catch it yourself for every different plate.
As you can tell this is going to be a lot of effort for no reason, but I'm pretty sure the PokeMMO developers won't change anything about it so this will probably always be the only way to do this.

    Important things to note:
You can't switcheroo or trick swap items in battle to make Arceus hold a different plate.
    >Trick/Switcheroo only works if Arceus spawns with no plate (Normal-Type)
Wild encountered Arceus has an even chance to spawn with each plate or with no plate, so that's 1/17 for every form.

Good luck, this is probably the hardest part of this whole journey.
I may make a seperate guide for this specifically

After completing this stage you should be able to view every single form and variant of a Pokémon in your Pokédex.
(except for Giratina, but thats not possible yet)

    STAGE 5
    Alpha Pokémon
This stage serves to help you complete your Alpha Pokedex.
(OT doesn't matter for the Alpha Dex so you could theoretically buy everything from the GTL.)

    Daily Alphas
A random Alpha Swarm appears once every in-game day in a random region.
there is many guides and strategies on how to catch them you can find online.

But heres my prefered strategy to quickly catch them:
Check the gender of the Alpha.
Catch one of the "swarm minions" with the opposite gender of the alpha
    Have it in your party.
Battle Alpha again with skill swap lead.
Lower its hp & put it to sleep.
    switch to the minion.
    Throw Love Balls

This doesn't work with every Alpha, but it has the highest success rate to my knowledge.
For genderless or female only Alphas you may resort to using Timer Balls.

    Event-Exclusive Alphas
Here I have listed all Alphas that are not in the daily rotation, but only available during their specific event.

10 Year Anniversary Event (one-time event)
    Venusaur
    Blastoise
    Charizard

The Alpha Kanto starters are not coming back.
The cheapest way to register them is to find someone who has them and ask if you can touch them and send them back.

    Raid-Exclusive Alphas
This feature is not implemented yet.
but it was teased in xmas 2024 with alpha suicune and its been confirmed to come back as permanent raid in the future.

    Raikou (most likely)
    Suicune (confirmed)
    Entei (most likely)

    Misc
    Druddigon (unobtainable)
    Aerodactyl (unobtainable)
    Tyranitar (Mt. Silver exclusive)

Once you have every obtainable Alpha registered your Pokedex should show 314/316 caught Alpha.

once you have completed all stages,
you become part of the <0.01% percentile of players that have truly completed their Pokédex

  24. Heart

Not that im aware of, i dont speak any other languages and wouldnt know how to go about doing other languages. I did have someone message me telling me they wanted to translate my strings for spanish and if that does happen then wouldnt mind publishing that with their credit. So unless someone will translate it i don't have any intentions of any other languages unfortunately.
