Ah yes, the main argument was "basic game things" being removed but now it's suddenly irrelevant when I point out that this isn't one of them. And rather reduced to a simple "something was removed" that completely ignores the point that what was removed was a "non-basic" feature that was added by PokeMMO to those games that, at the same time, aren't relevant to PokeMMO in any way, shape or form. I see the logic.
 
I don't see how those people's feelings are somehow supposed to justify that 600$ is a significant paywall towards getting a starter.
 
Rotom, Togepi. Literally the only two rares that I took the care to mention that their wild locations were an addition made by PokeMMO, unlike most rares who weren't made Lure-exclusive. We are somehow concluding from this that the criteria for Lure-exclusivity isn't the Pokémon that were previously given a wild location as an added feature to the games they're from, but that it's a great "money-grabbing" scheme that is targeting rare Pokémon as a whole to make us pay real money for Premium Lures and completely ignore regular ones that go for as low as 600$, even though not a single rare Pokémon that doesn't meet the criteria of being a unique encounter (or Poké Radar for Togepi) in its game of origin has been made a Lure-exclusive.

I mean, I was obviously giving multiple examples of what an actual "money-grabbing" scheme would be like to showcase how counterproductive it would be to execute it the way you're claiming it was. This is somehow irrelevant to the point of "money-grabbing" because you think it's dumb, and because you don't know why people would be talking about dev decisions,when the topic of discussion is dev decisions...???
 
I feel like you're trying to "antagonize" me by implying that I'm somehow jealous of those people when I'm in fact one of those people lol.
I love single-encounter shunting! I've been doing it for a while and am still doing it. It's the main reason I was so hyped about the introduction of Lures in the first place. I did get some shiny Pokémon that I wanted that way and I wasn't bothered by it last time I checked. I never said single-encounter shunters were a minority nor that they were wrong to seek after their desires, and I don't see how "sought after" is somehow supposed to mean that it's not completely absurd to be entitled to the 1/30k*20 encounter not being free anymore on something that got a wild encounter spot as a result of an added feature when the more efficient method of egg-hunting is still available.

I'm not entirely sure what the meaning behind this sentence is. You're quoting me when I state the fact that single-encounters on Lure-exclusives cost money now, and you somehow make out of this factual statement that I am "bothered by people getting shinies"? Then, the "original games" which were supposed to "not be relevant" in your first paragraph are somehow relevant again in this one?

I don't really see the point of continuing this discussion if you're just gonna keep dodging the actual topic and if you're gonna twist a couple of words to shift it towards me supposedly being "bothered by people getting shinies" (very relevant btw :'D). I feel like I've made my points clear and that all I'm doing right now is exposing the flawed logic, which is an utter waste of time since the actual topic isn't being discussed at all anymore.

I don't think it's pay to win, but the lures are an absolutely horrible mistake. Instead of just boosting the chance of getting starters or something like that, they've decided to gatekeep them behind a paywall, doesn't matter if it's with in-game currency or not. It's a cheap move, the only things behind said paywall were vanities until now (and Training Link, but that's a pretty specific tool so it didn't matter that much), and now they've taken content that was available for 10 years from us just to do a cash grab. The "now noobs will value shiny starters!" excuse is just another poor attempt at justifying and doing gatekeeping, btw. It's just a cheap move and if you agree with content being taken from the game and put behind a paywall you're enabling them to do it with more content in the future, and setting a dangerous precedent.

PokeMMO's Xmas Holiday-themed Event has returned for 2022! Santa Holiday Man is seeking assistance from players to help quell the Elfbot Rebellion. Find him in: Castelia City Vermilion City Slateport City Hearthome City Twist Mountain is a coop event designed for 2-4 players. Each player brings 4 party members, defeating as many enemies as possible together. The longer you last, the more prizes you get. Earn Xmas Presents and Holiday Man's Presents containing exclusive rewards for PokeMMO's Holiday Special 2022. Players who achieve Hard-mode difficulty inside the instance can receive special Secret Prizes. The Top 50 players on the Highscore Board will receive an exclusive at the end of the event: the Starlight Bobble Hat
 
Lost Presents have been spotted throughout the world. Collect them all for a chance to befriend a special Holiday Alpha! Swarms have become more frequent for this event! Keep an eye out for new Alpha Swarms and Holiday Swarms featuring rare species. PokeMMO's Holiday Special will end on January 5th, 2023 12:00AM UTC+0. Players will have 1 day to finish any ongoing instances, and the high score board will be finalized on January 6th, 2023 at 12:00AM UTC+0. After the high score board is finalized, players will be automatically mailed their prizes.  
Features
 Lures Lures are special items which attract more foes in the overworld. They're effective up to 250 steps and are available in all Marts after Badge 2 of your character's region. These items increase encounter rates slightly, only attract foes which are stronger than the normal foes in the area, and allow you to encounter more foes at the same time. Some species are now Lure-exclusive encounters. These are: Starters, Togepi, and Rotom species trees. Consult the Dex for where to find these species, and other rare encounters.   
Gift Shop
Several new Limited items have been introduced during this event:  Glistening Blue & Purple Wings are now available for a limited time  Legendary Blue & Purple Robes are now available for a limited time
 

 
 
 
The  Thick Winter Coat has been released. This seasonal item is available for a short period, and will return next year
 
In addition to these Holiday-themed items, some new permanent gift shop additions have been introduced: The EXP Reamplifier is an item which splits experience and EVs among all healthy party members. This account-bound item has infinite use and may be toggled on or off at any time while out of battle. See the description in the Gift Shop for more details. Premium Lures are a class of Lure. These items are slightly more effective and last slightly longer than normal Lures found in Marts. See the description in the Gift Shop for more details.
