I don't think they want the circle jerk to be that local. Also why would they have it on forums? Everyone on the forums presumably already plays or has played the game. It's for advertising. The staff aren't sitting there saying "Wow. I wish I knew who our best player was. I really want to give back to the community!". Edit: Having said that, I think the staff really took a misstep here. It's pretty obvious how autistic the PokeMMO community is. Friends tend to be a prerequisite for Facebook.

Not unless we're getting the entirety of gen 4, otherwise keep that sort of shit out. People will have enough of a challenge just getting the few new competitive Pokemon being introduced to their respective tiers after this update because of how difficult breeding is now. Now we have to rebreed and re-ev the old ones too?

Until they figure this out, I'm sure as hell not going to send any of my breeders to slaughter.

Actually I'll add to that before I go to bed, just since you're on now. I would absolutely love it if you guys delayed the update for 2 weeks just to get the gender choosing in with it. Releasing this breeding system without that feature would be awful.

Being able to control the gender of the egg seems to be a pretty important feature to make this new breeding system work.

I talked to DS about that. Apparently they were going to make it so you could choose the gender of the egg but due to complications, including difficult in coding, it was re-evaluated and they didn't do it.

I read what you are saying, it is just completely untrue. Already I've talked to 4 different staff members, one of the highlights of these conversations was Darkshade saying the quality of comp Pokemon will go down and the lower standard will be the new one. Though how about we explore your assertion that it is now easier to breed a competitive Pokemon for yourself, I find that interesting. Once the pre-update Pokemon are all gone by means of consumable breeding, how exactly will it be easier to make a competitive Pokemon? You have to go out and catch a female Pokemon to start with that doesn't have horrible IVs and also has the right nature. You then catch something else to breed with it, either a male in the same egg group or more likely a Ditto. You only get to control one IV passing since the other parent has to hold an everstone. So 2 more IVs are randomly inherited and three are averaged, with no hope of a positive roll. And you better hope that the egg turns out to be female or else that's the end of the line for your IV improvement, unless you want to spam catch Dittos for a day or two. This makes it just as hard to improve IVs as before, it just makes it an infinitely longer endeavor. All of this isn't even taking hidden power breeding into account, since it is now next to impossible without pre-update breeders to aid you and no way of choosing the gender of the Pokemon that is bred. It affects new competitive players disproportionately. This update made all of my Pokemon priceless, but I'd rather the previous system because the competitive community was a level playing field. Now it's back to the older players controlling the meta.

I disagree entirely. The beauty of the inflated market was that all the comp players were on a relatively level playing field. Because the comps were everywhere, there weren't any more powerhouses. With this system, the pre-update comp players will always hold the advantage. Edit: Especially in regards to hidden powers

What stops me from lending my pre-update comps to my friends and giving them a huge advantage? Seems to me that this brings us back to buying the best comp teams and having an oftentimes insurmountable edge over other players.

Perhaps not everyone has an HP Fire one though, can't imagine breeding one now. Using only Dittos to work closer to HP fire and if you get that unlucky 20% sturdy inheritance, you're fucked. From there on you have to try to keep the IVs at HP fire while hoping for a 20% magnet pull inheritence chance. This is comically fucked up.

This, so much this. Yet again, people will be able to buy the best team and become powerhouses in competitive play. Also mfw I pre-bred 11 Tyranitars, 6 Salamences, 3 Feebas, and a bunch of other stuff for Hoenn with ideal hidden powers and everything. Guess everything I own is now worth 5x what it was before, feels good man.
