  1. If we're talking about the vouchers specifically, then no it's pretty recent because they were introduced a couple updates ago but if we're talking about the rest then I'd like to see some relevant examples because I'm unfamiliar with them. It might have been a common practice in the past because the staff probably didn't have the proper tools at the time to monitor it or perhaps it went unnoticed. Also (not aiming at anyone in particular), it's not because you haven't heard of something before means that it never happened at one point. I'm sure there have been similar bans in the past that have just gone unnoticed by the community, probably at a lower scale too. As for the punishment, I think it's at the discretion of the staff team, I don't particularly agree or disagree with the punishments. I suppose permabans are not thrown at first-timers or if it is the case then it's probably because they have been abusing this practice at a much larger scale. Perhaps it doesn't fall exactly under scamming but game exploit/gtl abuse (?). Perhaps it needs to be refined. I also don't think whoever fells for these traps should get any sort of refund whatsoever, but we should actively prevent this malicious practice from continuing without impunity. I just think that economics is irrelevant here, we're talking about players abusing the fact that 2 items share too many similarities and that one can be confused with the other if you are not paying attention enough, it's not some sort of market manipulation per se (the price of the voucher market isn't affected) nor is it a matter of free market like some individuals have said. I've also seen people comparing listing items with the intent of tricking others (which is the issue that is being discussed) to other practices such as snipping shinies on the gtl, as if actively trying to trick people had any similarities to purchasing a shiny from a careless or uninformed seller. Imo a push to change the vouchers or some features of the gtl is a must, like it has been suggested before but for the time being the status quo seems to be the only viable solution. Hopefully in the near future though.
  2. We could say the same thing to players with ill-intent. Is it suddenly wrong now only because they got caught red handed? It was probably already wrong in the first case yet they did it anyway. They just didn't know they could get caught.
  3. It happens to everyone to misread something every once in a while and if you fell into one of these trap then it's also your fault for not paying attention. It should serve as a lesson to be more careful the next time around. On the other hand however, if your sole purpose is to trying to set up these traps using items that look alike so that people would hopefully fell for them, then I don't think you should go "unpunished". The players behind those schemes are fully aware of what they are doing yet are willingly taking advantage of it regardless of what may happen- it's premeditated. If you abuse a feature to a point where it becomes detrimental to others, then I think at some point something must be done to prevent that abuse, whether by enforcing a rule to stop that behavior (which I don't think is ideal on the long run) and/or changing how the system works.
  4. ah yes please go ahead and enlight us with your degree from r/economics then, I'm sure throwing words like "free market" and "supply and demand" around will make you arguments relevant to the current topic
  5. I understand your point and I agree to some extent. The answers can probably be refined and reworked but in the end it will still feel robotic and/or insufficient. Sadly, it's not worth the time of the staff to give a specific explanation to every single ban case as why the ban has been issued, especially when they're appealing just because they don't agree and not because they're innocent, when they can use that time for much more useful things like actually unbanning players, hence why a generic answer is more efficient despite not being sufficient. Shortcuts are less desirable but they are definitely more practical in that case If you put yourself in their shoes for a second, having to deal with tons of appeals every day, maybe then you can understand why they chose that course of action.
  6. Giving a different answer to every ban appeal is unrealistic and a huge waste of time, especially when most appeals are made by players that are well-aware that they've broken the rules and yet are still willing to argue about it. It feels robotic yes, but it's necessary for a game with a large community like PokeMMO.

  13. Hello there, you must contact a Club moderator. Here's where you can find them:
  14. This isn't really about privacy, this suggestion is just an attempt to gain an advantage over those who struggles to fight the Pumpking to get more money off the event. You don't want your team to be "leaked" because you fear you won't be making as much money as you should. You believe it is unfair but what really is unfair here is trying to privatize spectating mode so that only a small group of players can benefit from it.
  15. This isn't the right place for competitive-related discussions. Try here instead:
  16. yeah they are busy figuring out the impostors in OU
  17. We've been fair with all of our opponents so far and I'm sure Madara would've allowed a rematch If the situations were reversed. This is the essence of unsportsmanship and I'm really disappointed to see how low people are willing to go to secure a mere "victory". The same people who've denied the rematch were boasting not even a week ago about how great they were for doing the complete opposite. Regardless of how ironic the situation is, it's still pitiful to rely on a win like that. You would expect better from an event gathering the supposedly best players of the community.
  18. Haven't you heard the news? Halloween is cancelled! You wouldn't want to spread the virus trick-or-treating would you!
