PBCs $200 to $10,000 gambling thread

Hey everyone, I’m back on the sports gambling. Trying to one up my previous $20 to $1000 I did 4 years ago. Now that I actually make decent money and can afford to lose $200 I’m gonna try to hit $10000 or go bust trying

I am going to post most of my picks a day in advance, with the reasoning behind them and aim to have this challenge completed by the end of the regular football season ️ In May. Those of you wanting to join me for some bets then by all means!

This thread serves to publicly display my progress/idiotic bets. Im not limiting myself to one sport, however most of my bets will be from European football, the NHL, World Cup and the MLS as those are the ones I’m most familiar with

Day 1: Not going to properly start until the European football kicks off tomorrow. But found a pair of tasty bets I like the look of

Reason: Top of the table LAFC and their stacked team of former European goats should be capable of knocking off Charlotte who has won 1 game on the road since the start of the MLS season. Recently losing 4-0 away to a very weak Toronto team

Result: Win

Reason: The last 5 games Inter Miami played at home resulted in at least 3+ goals. 4 of the last 5 games between these two sides have seen 4+ yellow cards. Inter Miami has given away at least 4 corners in 8 of the last 10 MLS games they have played

Result: Win

Reason: Backing Real Madrid to immediately make up for Barca's slipup. Benzema to have one shot on target and a Madrid card nets me a solid $20 should it come off. Not too much research behind this one, just banking on Madrid showing their superiority against one of LaLiga's weaker sides

Result: Win

Reason: A big part of gambling is finding value, and Roma is most people's dark horse for a run at Serie A this year. Having put 6 goals past a Salernitana team that was lucky to avoid relegation last season, and adding Dybala to an already strong front line. Im predicting a Roma win with at least 2 goals, a couple corners and a card for the opposition

Result: Loss - Another unlucky L after the Spurs game. Roma hit the post twice and had some crazy chances, but couldn't put a second goal away

Reason: The first real top 6 clash in the Premier League this year, and backing Tottenham's form vs Chelsea's history is a tough ask. So I haven't picked a winner. What I have done is found some value in the shots market, im backing a deep lying Kane to put some shots on a platter for Son and Kulu, with yellow cards almost a guarantee in this game.

Result: Loss - apparently a Kulusevski shot is too much to ask for, Spurs somehow also ended up with no cards on the pitch despite Romero manhandling Cucurella's hairline

I tried doing this with the NBA last season. Went $50 --> 3.5kish but then playoff basketball is harder to bet on because lines/defence gets tighter. Waiting for the next season to start so I can try and make more profits. GL tho man. 🙂

If you want tips, the sportsbook sub on Reddit is usually pretty handy, has alot of people posting different tips from different sports

Yeah, I keep an eye on the football Reddit one. But I’ve had mixed success there. I find trusting myself has usually worked better

Today has been a lesson in keeping it simple, not picking a winner between Spurs and Chelsea was ultimately right and Roma won... but the added cards/corners/goals on the odds messed things up.

Day 3:

Spoiler

12B3B83E-89F9-433E-824C-D1FDD127D653.jpeg

Reason: A little MLS accumulator here for this evening/morning for those in Europe. Its the MLS so im backing goals. Nashville vs Minnesota has the makings of a feisty midtable clash. Minnesoto has seen 3+ goals in 8 of their last 10. Seattle have scored at home in all of their home games since April and Real Salt lake away games have been seen both teams scoring in the last 5

Result: Win

Spoiler

E86457C0-FA71-4DF5-AEE6-B97C09B0703A.jpeg

Reason: Liverpool have won 13 of their last 15 home games by 2 or more goals. Last season's encounters between these 2 had 9 yellow cards and Liverpool's extra emphasis on attacking with wide balls for Nunez should see them comfortably get at least 3 corners.

Result: BIG L - Cashed out right after the Nunez red, saved myself $4.17

Reason: I was looking at Bilbao to use our spare $12 and change but the odds seemed like poor value, especially for the card market given their last H2H featured 10 yellows!

So I moved to Atletico, they have not lost to Getafe in the last 21 encounters… winning 18 of those. Simple choice

Paired it with a Juve win, Juve has invested smartly this summer to try and reclaim Serie A. They have won 4 of the 5 last H2Hs with Sassuolo and haven’t lost back to back Serie A openers since the 80s. Another simple pick by the looks of it

Result: Win

Reason: Having watched LAFC demolish Charlotte the other day while resting Chiellini and Bale I can’t not back them again. The best team against the worst in the league. DC United missing 6 first team players. A rested Bale and Chiellini. I played it safe with -1.5 but could easily see this being 4 or 5

Result: Big L - LA rested Bale and Chiellini again and somehow only managed 1 goal against 10 man DC

Reason: backing Norwich to finally kick start their championship season at home. Huddersfield are a mid table level side and Norwich should be able to put them away

Result: Win

Day 5: somehow despite keeping the winning average up, I’m losing more often on the bigger bets and winning moreon the high risk ones. We are at a measly $225 right now

Reason: Backing two of the Championship big boys to pick up wins at home against newly promoted Sunderland and a more risky pick against high flying Cardiff

New York should have beat Miami the other day, and a return to winning ways against a Charlotte side who just got pumped 5-0 seems like a decent shout too

Going to start flexing the spending power a bit more, go all in or go home

Result: First bet L - Sheff Utd won, West Brom kept being useless and got a 0-0. Second bet L - New York dominated the match, but somehow conceded two late goals and lost

Day 6: Back at it with two aggressive bets, trying to win big. If not then we have $100 and a free bet from bet365 for this weekends fixtures

Reason: Sevilla will be disappointed to not have won last week, while Valladolid got pumped 3-0. Predicting a home win and two goals for the home side

Result: L - Sevilla never looked like scoring a 2nd in a 1-1 draw

DAB1F8B2-B129-47C7-B6E5-CA7FF109A7AD.thumb.jpeg.0fe79fdf2ffe48eec1f378f5360f070f.jpeg

Reason: Both teams to have a card has hit in all of the last 5 Millwall matches. Norwich is at home and have the stronger side, but Millwall has been on a good run of form. I’ve gone for the home side but wouldn’t be surprised if this gets kicked out for a 0-0 or 1-1

Result: Big W

Reason: I’m a Spurs fan, that and we should be more than enough to see off a Wolves team off to a shaky start. Perisic getting the nod should give Son more licence to cut inside and I’m backing Kulu to actually have a crack this game

Result: L, game ended 1-0 and Kulu had no shot

Reason: bit of a derby, backing some cards and a simple home W

Result: Easy W
