Ditto Farming Guides - One of the fastest way

One of the fastest ways to farm Ditto

 

It takes 3 rounds to catch a Ditto by using Sneasel with Assist.

IVs: 31 Atk / 31 Spe
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Attack / 6 Speed
Nature: Adamant

Item: Muscle Band

Moves:
- False Swipe  
- Assist  (Egg move)                      [ If you breed Sneasel with a smeargle, you can pass down 4 egg moves ]
- Psycho Cut

 

- At level 71, sneasel's psycho cut can OHKO loudreds that level 45, defense boosted nature, with 31s in HP and Defense. Higher levels will only benefit sneasel. 

- Muscle band is an item that increases all physical moves by 10%. It is an item that can be found for free in the Aqua Hideout. 

 

 

Do NOT give Sneasel the ability of keen eye
 

If a Pokémon with Keen Eye is in the first place in the party (even when fainted), 

there is a 50% chance that it will prevent a random wild encounter that would have occurred if the wild Pokémon would be at least 5 levels lower than the Pokémon with Keen Eye.

 

Assist is an Egg Move for Sneasel

 

Skitty / Glameow / Purugly / Purrloin / Liepard / Smeargle
Can be breed to pass on Assist toSneasel

 

Do not evolve Sneasel

 

Weavile's ability is pressure
Here are some tips that increase the Ditto farming efficiency

 

About Psycho Cut

 

If you encountered a shiny Loudred, it can help defeat the surrounding pokemon and catch the shiny Loudred.
Since Sneasel is a dark type, Psycho Cut will have no effect, so it cannot be killed during farming.

Ability: Dry Skin

IVs: Any

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Attack / 6 Speed

Nature: Adamant 

Item: Black glasses or Dread Plate

 

Moves:
- Thief  
- Spore

 

- I picked the ability Dry Skin over effect spore because effect spore has a chance to poison the Pokémon. You do not want to poison the shiny. 

- At level 71, Parasect will outspeed the fastest Loudred. The higher Parasect's level, the better

- I selected max HP EVs, because it can handle attacks better

- Black Glasses can be found for free in Hoenn and Dread Plate can be found for free in Sinnoh

 

 

The reason why we use thief

 

Thief cannot be assisted

If you encountered a shiny Loudred, it can help defeat rest of them and catch the shiny one

 

Assist cannot use any of the following moves

 

Mirror Coat / Trick / Rage Powder / Snatch / Switcheroo / Thief / Chatter
Mirror Move / Circle Throw / Counter / Detect / Focus Blast / Dragon Tail / Bestow / Copycat / Covet / Endure
Feint / Follow Me / Helping Hand / Me First / Metronome / Mimic / Protect / Sketch / Sleep Talk
Struggle / Transform / Destiny Bond / Dig / Bounce / Fly / Sky Drop / Dive / Nature Power / Roar / Whirlwind / Shadow Force

 

 

How to catch Dittos in 3 rounds

 

Round 1
Sneasel uses false swipe

 

Round 2
Sneasel uses Assist

 

Round 3
Use Poke ball

Dusk Ball,  $1,350

Catch rate: 68.21%

 

Repeat Ball,  $1,500

Catch rate: 68.21%

 

Ultra Ball, $ 1,200

Catch rate: 54.57%

 

Great Ball, $ 600

Catch rate: 40.93%

Nice. Tbh for ppl that already use assist false swipe with smeargles, finding a shiny in horde isn't that scary, you can always use the dittos you have in your party and work your way with them using potions.

Won't they die before you can transform and switch back to Smeargle? And without offensive moves, you can't defeat the non-shiny Loudreds in a horde.

Just heal ditto you have in your party, switch to another 1HP ditto to sacrifice, send healed ditto, transform on the highest lvl one, use Stomp, you most likely won't die in one turn, if you get low, just heal back and wait a favorable turn where they don't attack you, kill them one by one and revive ditto if you died. You're never in actual danger of losing the shiny. 

 

The only thing scary with Assist/Smeargle is to find shiny in horde before you even catch one ditto. That's very unlikely. But even so you can systematically put to sleep the shiny and PP stall the 4 other until they die of Struggle earlier than shiny who lost turns of sleep, and then catch shiny.

They're all viable alternatives, like all the gym/trainer guides, it may be annoying to spam the guide section when in truth there's little to nothing added, but I guess there may be some kind of pleasure in claiming that your way is the best one, and put forth arguments in the form of a guide. In reality, most alternatives add only the fact of being different, and I guess some people like to do things differently, that's understandable.

Yea ofc, as an alternative.
Anyways, as long smeargle exist, he will remain as the best option because you dont stuff your slots with 2 pokemon just for catching. Use the 2. second for the possibilty of a shiny and thats it. Or a second smeargle.

We soon have a 'best ditto catching guide' for every assist pokemon out there lmao.  But its a improvement. The last guide had 18. Steps. 18.

 

 

Its like:

 

Basicly smeargle or any pkm with assist/false swipe.

- end of the guide *adds fancy pictures*

I would use yawn over spore.

 

If you use False swipe + spore, ditto already has the first sleep turn in the second turn.

If you use yawn + false swipe, ditto has its first sleep turn in the third turn.

Why so much science over something so simple?

Just use 2 Pokemon in your party - 1 Pokemon (lead) only knows False Swipe and Assist and the other only knows Spore.

When Ditto transforms into your lead Pokemon, it will only be able to damage your lead with False Swipe (meaning, it can never kill it).

Then just Spore the Ditto by using Assist on your lead Pokemon and proceed to catch it.

Done.

I carry as 3rd poke lvl100 Banette with thief as only move. Assist does never affect it. That sneasel strat is valid as well because they are basically the same, just catch ditto in 3 turns.
