What do I need to start catching alphas?

You need 8 badges in the region the alpha is located in, to be able to fight the Alphas.

Just want to point out that you don't need 8 badges, I only had 4, at the time I caught this Persain in Kanto.
Didn't even know this was a thing, I just walked into it on a fluke XD

I noticed a pattern of 6 out of 6 real hours each alpha.

Mantine 12/1/22 - 1:30 am

Honchkrow 12/1/22 - 7:28 am

Qagsire 12/1/22 - 12:47 pm

Vaporeon 12/1/22 - 6:38 pm

Of course it is my catch time, and have the factor of game time 18:59 time limite spawn.

So, i figured out there are 3 pattern of 6-6 hour spawn that can predict what time Alpha Will spawn.

I don't complete this yet, but i'm sure that can help

Alpha Pokémon appear once during a game day (6 real life hours), they will appear randomly at any time and remain active for 75 minutes. That means that an alpha Pokémon can appear at 17:00 ingame and then another at 00:01, there is really no way to predict their encounter.

although I must be honest, your pattern sounds good as a theory

Is there any official info on the catch rate or effectiveness of balls for alphas? They're clearly harder to catch than normal mons and there's some kind of mysticism about which balls work and which ones don't.

Also I’ve been told that some moves like Endeavor doesn't work well gains them, if thats the case would be cool to have a list of moves that affects them differently if is not just Endevor.

Hello there, no info regarding this has been given, catching rates are unknown. About current moves, I'm only aware of endeavor "nerf"

Hey guys,

I've been trying to wrap my head around how I would manage to breed a pokemon that's an alpha when I didn't have said alpha pokemon to begin with. Cuz like if you have two alpha crobats, you can totally breed them. But how does it work with like getting an alpha ditto or a pokemon that you haven't seen in an alpha swarm? Am I just overthinking this or missing something?

You can buy this alpha normally from gtl/trade chat , the origin of the alpha will not interfere with the final result

So there's no way for me to breed out an alpha like for example an alpha Dratini if i don't have a Dratini to start with?

There is no other way, you need an alpha dratini /dragonair / dragonite  to keep the alpha aura on it and keep breeding with alpha mons to keep alpha status, if you breed with an normal mon it will come a normal dratini with ha. If you dont have the alpha caught, you can buy from gtl or trade chat, since you make the breed it will come your ot

A few days ago, Alpha Salamence have been spotted in wild. I'm wondering right now - Event alphas(Except Unova without Overworld Sprite) can appear on normal alpha rotation?

Hi, I may be wrong but salamence was never an event alpha.

The event alpha's we've had so far that I can remember, Halloween: Gengar, Chandelure, Drifblim, Dusknoir,

Xmas: Abomasnow, Delibird, Froslass

Lunar New Year: Grumpig, Braviary, Stoutland, Ampharos, Gyarados, Lopunny, Tauros, Zebstrika, Purugly, Excadrill, Steelix, Slaking.

As far as I am aware no event alpha has appeared on normal rotation as of now.

Salamence got released on XMas and some people have picked them from Mysterious Pokéballs afaik.

Also, all alphas from 2nd part of Anniversary Update(Event) with exception of Starter trio, appear on normal rotation

A few new evolution lines of alphas have been included in last updates, some of them was in events , but this dont means they are exclusive to thoose events. Remember that untill halloween event we had only 60 evolution lines of alphas and since then every event we got new alphas (exclusive tho thoose events and normal spawn ones). The Alpha can come with that update, but dont means it is exclusive to this event, i have listed the exclusive ones alphas herebeside this ones all other alphas has a daily chance to spawn

Just forgot to mention on normal type of alphas: Ditto has a bumped chance of appearing in comparation with other "normal" alphas - This was confirmed by devs, i can't find the post right now, but the reason is because Ditto has a bigger importance on breeding.
