Flash/Defog Ocarina Changes

Improve usage of these Ocarinas by providing players with an optional prompt to use their Ocarina when entering an area that requires Flash or Defog.

 

Currently other Ocarinas have a somewhat automated usage, while Defog and Flash have less incentive to purchase, as it requires a similar amount of steps to use that simply using a Pokemon would take.

 

I currently don't have these Ocarinas for this very reason, but that would quickly change with this QoL improvement.

So this suggestion is just to avoid making 2 clicks ? 

 

The incentive of any ocarina aren't the clicks but the ability to not need a pokemon in your party.

I forgive you for the brain freeze, it happens, but any HM use, whether you have Ocarina or pokemon in your party, is the same, you have to press A to Surf, Waterfall, Dive, etc. The incentive of buying any ocarina is to not need a pokemon in your party with those HMs/moves.

This is what I was referring to, and my point is that it lessens incentive you've just pointed out, because it is similar to handling a Pokemon with that HM anyway, aside from a quick PC visit on the rare occasion these are needed.

If there is an option to automate that interaction, I would find buying these Ocarinas far more enticing. That is the core of the suggestion, and as you said about, you can simply press A to Surf/Dive/Waterfall/etc. but Flash/Defog operate similarly to how a Pokemon in your party would anyway. It is a minor QoL I'm not disputing that, just that the functions of these Ocarinas could be adjusted to have them feel as convenient as other Ocarinas.

This problem could also be solved by increasing the number of Hotbar slots available, 9 just isn't enough anymore.
