Posted May 27, 2024May 27 Although there will be posts on the forums, this tournament will be heavily reliant on discord co-operation from managers and players. Please join here: https://discord.gg/gufCkUcdqT Welcome to the Commencement Thread of the first OUPL. The OU Premier League (OUPL) is a team-based event where the best OU players will face each other weekly to claim a grand prize. Players will be bought in an auction by one of six managers of the season and integrate a team that will aim to win the OUPL crown. Once the teams are formed, the competition begins. There are two phases to the event: the regular season and the playoffs. Based on their performance during the regular round-robin season, each team will head into the playoffs single elimination bracket. OUPL Tiers: Spoiler BO3 OU (First player to two wins, whoever wins the BO3 will earn 1 point for their team) OU OU OU LC OU DPP Host: Spoiler The host is not allowed to participate in the event as a manager or player. @Luke Has written out the rules before the event; which have been under public scrutiny to ensure they were done correctly. They have been validated by the current hosts & playerbase as fine. However, Luke has 0 bearing on ANY decisions once this thread goes live as he will be in a management position. The hosts for the event are: @Shadow & @RysPicz The host is permitted to use assistants not involved in the event, however the host(s) has final say. Players: Spoiler A player signs up for the OUPL to compete in duels and represent his/her team on a weekly basis in order to win the grand prize at the end of the season. Players join the OUPL by signing up in the “Player Registration” thread during the preseason, and will be selected by a manager during the draft. The manager select which tiers his/her players will compete in, but a manager can't force his/her players to compete in a tier he/she didn't sign up for. It is recommended that managers and players work together throughout the season for the best possible outcome. OUPL players are the backbone of this event and we need a diverse group to ensure success. Not every player who registers will be able to play. When you join the OUPL, you are agreeing to play for any manager that selects you in the draft and that you are committed to playing throughout the entirety of the season. You will also follow the rules provided and will respect the decisions made by the host. Auction: Spoiler The OUPL Preseason Auction will be held over Discord in a private channel. Only managers and the hosts will be allowed voice and typing capabilities. All others present will be muted and act only as spectators. The draft will occur after Player Sign-ups are completed. The time will be decided by all managers and the host in order for full participation. - The order of the auction will be announced at the beginning of the auction and will be determined by random chance - Managers will be provided with 100 credits each - Managers can play, via a weighted self buy - 1 week before the auction, the self buy weighted prices for each manager will be announced. They will have 3 days from this announcement to decide if they wish to self buy. - Once a manager is called, they will have 2 minutes to select a player from the draft list - A manager may open the bid at 2 credits (minimum) or state a higher opening bid at the time of selection - Once a player is selected, other managers can bid on that player by manually typing their bid - A minimum outbid of 1 credit is mandatory, for instance a bid of 4 credits can be outbid by a 5 credits bid - Once a bid has been active without any other outbids for 20 seconds, that player will be awarded to the manager's team with the highest bid - This will be repeated in subsequent order as indicated at the beginning of the auction - Manager's must draft a minimum of 8 players and a maximum of 11 players (unlocking managers to play counts as 1) - A manager must keep a minimum number of credits to fill their roster. Credits will be tracked by the host, but please help out as this can get messy with a live auction - Once a manager has drafted 9 players, they may "skip" their turn in the draft and no longer participate. Once they have announced this, their draft will be over and they can no longer draft any further players Managers Spoiler - The managers will be chosen by @Luke - Players who wish to be considered for the remaining six manager positions will sign up in the “Manager Registration” thread when posted. The six managers selected will be chosen based on how well I believe they can lead and motivate their team. - All SIX selected managers will be required to submit MANDATORY 3m DONATION. By signing up you confirm that YOU AGREE TO THIS. The money MUST be mailed by 2 days prior to the auction starting, if it is not received before then I will go to a backup option. Regular Season + Playoffs Spoiler Five week round robin, each team will play every other team once. A team will receive 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and 0 points for a loss. Playoffs week 1: Semi final 1 - 1st place vs 4th place Semi final 2 - 2nd place vs 3rd place Playoffs week 2: 1/2nd playoff - Winner of Semi final 1 vs Winner of Semi final 2 3/4th playoff - Loser of Semi final 1 vs Loser of Semi final 2 Lineup Spoiler Each week, managers must submit a lineup composed of players of their team that will represent them against another team in each of the selected tier slots. Scheduling: Spoiler Quoted from Shadow (the host) As a first measure, we both agreed on that the scheduled system has to be reworked, in order to avoid the classic few guys announcing their duels at very different timezones and having many few duels announced (You can refer to this very last PSL edition where you could see that many few duels times were announced beforehand.) Basiclly, what we aim to achieve is the following: - We'll unite all schedules **under a single post I'll do weekly in the scheduling channel** (once we create it). I'll post something like the following: (example) Team A vs Team B DPP OU: Shadow vs Forfiter Saturday 5 pm GMT Team C vs Team D OU: Axoa vs Luke Sunday 3 pm GMT Team E vs Team F Bo3 OU: DrewQ vs PoseidonWrath Sunday 9 pm GMT - **Players and Managers will no longer have to post in this channel.** Instead, Managers will be the ones in charge of sending me (either via DM or via Managers channel) their players schedules (can be in any format) and I'll edit the message above with the matches I was sent. - In the scheduling channel, **all scheduled matches will be in GMT Format** (GMT/UTC means exactly the same just to clarify) so if you want to check a match, if you are GMT - or GMT + you just to check your own timezone and add or remove the number of hours (Ex if a match is held at 6 pm GMT and you're GMT-3, match will be at 3 PM GMT -3, or if you are GMT+4, that match will be held at 10 PM GMT+4) - Matches will be ordered in day and time regarding which match comes first. (first match of 2 teams will be the first shown from top to bottom) - For any doubts, please contact me or Forfiter. Activity Wins: Spoiler Activity Wins Main Priority: Who missed a set scheduled date/time Priority 1: Who attempted to communicate Priority 2. If tied above, who tried to schedule Priority 3. If tied above, who gave the most availability windows (reasonable ones) Priority 4. If tied above, whose availability windows were earlier in the week (no regard for Sunday schedulers) Priority 5. If tied above, who’s the noob fishing for the W (host discretion) Trading Spoiler There is no trading permitted in any circumstance in OUPL 1, or any of its future iterations. Here's to a great OUPL! May 27, 2024May 27 Author OUPL Managers: Team Names TBC Luke + Azphiel LeJovi PoseidonWrath GasyFlour + iRusher Incognition + ArisTheFang Queest Edited May 27, 2024May 27 by OUPL
May 27, 2024May 27 Author Reasonings: Luke + Azphiel Spoiler Luke's management style is infamous for how ruthless and even times "underhanded" it can feel, but it is undeniable that he knows how to lead a team. He won PSL at his first ever try at management, and dominated the round robin with an undefeated run at the second shake of it where it unfortunately crumbled in the semi finals. Him combining with Azphiel as his co manager, who lead his team to a PSL finals in PSL 15 is surely to have a big impact on the event; can they both live up to the hype around their reputations? LeJovi + YJos Spoiler Jovi is an underappreciated leader in the modern MMO scene. He often goes under the radar due to him not emphasising the affect he has had on NORE's rebuild. He has been able to shape a new generation of NORE dominance which has emulated the success of those who reigned supreme in the TT scene in 2019. It will be very interesting to see what he does with his draft as he clearly has an eye for rising talent. PoseidonWrath Spoiler In recent history Wrath has proved himself as a capable leader; taking the reigns of lava's shift from a PVE team to a respectable PVP team and leading them to continued TT success after a long drought. This will be his first shake at management, if his leadership qualities in PSL & Lava are anything to go off he should have an impressive run potentially showing what he can do as a manager in the next PSL. GasyFlour + iRusher Spoiler Gasy & Lumi combine for the first ever couple in management! Their romance has combined into a perfect opportunity to demonstrate their chemistry as managers. Lumiere is fresh off the back of a finals run in his debut management season in PSL , of which Gasy played a big part in. Can these two lovebirds complete a run which ends in success? Incognition + ArisTheFang Spoiler Incognition is someone who really stepped up to cover in PSL as a co host, and has emphasised many times publicly his desire to manage in PSL in the future. His perseverance, dedication & motivation to constantly improve has been shown by leading and transforming OPTC (a PVE team) to a huge upset with a cup of the year win. This along with many other factors earned him this spot and a real chance to show that he deserves to given a fair shake in the management position. These two could be real dark horses in this tournament, as their effort levels could truly be leagues ahead of the rest of the managers; underestimating them due to lack of experience would be a true mistake. Queest + eedays Spoiler Queest is hot off the back of a hugely impressive PSL management victory; looking very strong through out the entire tour. He will be looking to emulate his dominance in OUPL. It will be interesting to see if he sticks to his tried and tested strategy of drafting a mix of up and coming Chinese talent, combined with some more familiar Chinese names; or will he mix it up and look out to lead western players to victory instead? May 28, 2024May 28 Well, three basic questions: 1 - On the future other OUs may be included such as SV or SwSh OU or we will keep with those ones? 2 - 50h In-game for a player to signup isn't too low? The player can afk for that time and the effort to prevent smogon players go to waste. Wouldn't be better to give an date that the account should be registered(The day that the person joined is written onto the trainer card, any people curious can check their ones by looking top-right corner of their trainer cards, easy to check.) and any IGN registered prior to that given date is ellegible? For example: The date required is 23/04/2024. If the trainer card says that you've registered 21/10/2017, you're ellegible. If the trainer card says that you've registered 25/03/2022, you're ellegible. However, If the trainer card says that you've registered 24/04/2024, you're inellegible. 3 - Why all other teams has 2 managers and Wrath's team has only wrath as a manager? He decided to go alone as a manager, didn't choose a co-manager yet, or it was a decision behind the doors to let him as a solo manager? Edited May 28, 2024May 28 by caioxlive13

July 28, 2024Jul 28 I would like to thank @Luke for coming up with this event and for giving me the opportunity to be a manager. Thank you @RysPicz @Shadow for giving your time and commitment to host a high-quality event despite there being many difficult decisions to be made, I hope you both will be able to host similar events in the future. I would like to thank @YourAngst for being an amazing co-manager, a lot of people may have been surprised by my decision since you may not be as well known by the wider community, but I knew from the very beginning that you would be an amazing help, and I was not wrong at all - your time, dedication and input was invaluable and I greatly appreciate that. You are definitely talented and I hope you decide to co-manage/manage similar events in the future. I would like to thank @Razachu for helping our team to breed the resources they need at short notice, your support was much appreciated. And a huge thank you to every single one of my teammates - @Biramontes @Matthzinxl @Xigbar @cochetas @Gunthug @ShanQi @pablobacas @DrakeHope @Sebat @MaatthewMLG You came to this event respecting me as a manager, and despite so many people doubting our draft and team, each of you came with a positive attitude, putting rivalries aside to help each other out with scouting, teambuilding, practising, and providing a positive environment. Despite having a tough first week, you all came out stronger each time, eventually coming out as deserved winners. Now for individual shoutouts: @Biramontes - You have been an amazing player, I didn't know who you are as a person, but I saw you performing strongly on the OU ladder and thought you would be a great addition. You had a very solid performance, it was good to see you become more recognised by top players in the game and I'm glad I got to know you better, you're a really nice guy and you have huge potential. @Matthzinxl - You came at short notice due to one of our players having to drop out, but you immediately made an impact with your positivity and dedication and finished unbeaten at 4-0, clutching the final tiebreaker. I hope you savour this moment for a very long time, well deserved and thank you so much. @Xigbar - Although you were only able to play one week, your efforts in making sure we got the practice we needed was really valuable, your support was also amazing and you were our lucky charm, once again being on the winning team. Thank you so much for all your help. @cochetas - Many people outside VOW may have been surprised by my pick, but you are a very skilled player across all tiers and your performance showed. You grabbed some valuable wins and you have a positive future ahead. @Gunthug - I'm glad you were able to get back into the DPP scene, you've proven that you've still got the skills and despite your real life commitments, I appreciate the effort you put in to play and win the matches when we needed them most. Thank you and you're a great guy. @ShanQi - Despite a tough start, you didn't let this get to you and you helped us grab some important wins. I also see you doing well in tournaments, you are a friendly person and I hope we get to be on the same team in the future. @pablobacas - The one I need to single out and say the biggest thank you to. You have admittedly carried us for so many weeks, including some very intense matches which not only decided the week, but brought us to the tiebreaker. You fully deserve not only the MvP BO3 OU, but the overall MvP with an amazing 7-1 record. @DrakeHope - Your support has been amazing and a learning experience for me was to make you my captain as you helped to resolve stuff with other teams. As a player, I don't know how other teams didn't draft you, because apart from WarwitoX you brought the most wins in LC and will always be one of the best in the tier, thank you so much. @Sebat - Your support, teambuilding advice, and attitude have been amazing. You grabbed us some wins which proved vital in a competition which had a huge amount of high quality players. @MaatthewMLG - Although you were only able to play one game, I'm glad you had a chance to shine and thank you for staying on the server and supporting us throughout the event. @UTR - moo Finally, I enjoyed this event overall and could not have asked for a better team. Admittedly as a manager, it took a lot of my time alongside my other commitments, but it was absolutely worth it to see the whole team come together and win. This experience as a manager was invaluable, and gave me good memories of Optic, and I hope that this experience helps me to gain the credentials I need to manage in the highest event like PSL when the time comes.... Thank you.
