[TESTERS APPRECIATED] A More Cozy Fossil Route

Featured Replies

Posted

Hello Forums!

I came up with this Route because I can't stand the random encounters in caves, or the large areas of grass in most guides I've seen and read. I was hesitant to post this as it feels like I'm reinventing the wheel but those I've shown seem to really like it, so I thought I'd share it with the community.

In each region there are a few boulders that are very easily accessible. By rotating though the regions you can gather the low hanging fruit without having to trek through caves or much grass and you still get a very respectable amount of fossils. A pro is you get all of the fossil types, but a con is you need 4/5 regions complete.

This is my first post on the forums, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Hope this helps somebody ❤️

Fun rock smashing route

Your route falls just shy of 30 rocks and should run well with regards to the 5min cool down per rock. If rocks are always spawned in when you get there, try cutting out a small portion of the route like the two north of mawville. If you continue to test until you are getting to them just as the rocks are spawned in and able to cut out less rock dense locations then you'll be able to increase rocks per hour and the following increase in fossils per hour. Minmaxxing your time and rock dense locations is always a delicate balancing act but rewards those that continue to push the limits. If you're already at that point and rocks sometimes aren't spawned back in and just needed a few more seconds, logout and log back in real fast for them to spawn

A note, if you're fine using a repel or two, pop one shortly after leaving Fall harbor and time it it just in time to get through the grass so that it runs out before the first of the five rocks. The same could also be done for your Sinnoh section and the cost of repels is fairly cheap compared to the price of your fossils per hour. If your get an encounter in the grass 6 times an hour in an easily avoidable section, that is roughly 1.5min you could have been smashing rocks. They are both small sections, so fairly easy to also use a Keen Eye/Stench lead with a keen eye and just juggle them between Lead and your secondary

I am interested in your total runs per hour you get for the route. If you'd rather discuss on discord, I am shamorunner there too

I will try to test in here in a bit but am currently preoccupied with contract buyers for the shiny war as well as data collection for Unova Rock Smash

It is good to see another fossil route and video to go with it too

Johto shares a fossil pool with Kanto.

This is a useful answer

Super comfy route! I'm not sure what data you'd like but I got 18 encounters w/ 1 Armor Fossil, 1 Root Fossil, 1 Berry Juice, and 1 Hard Stone. It took me ~15 min to complete the route (give or take 5 minutes).

Did another run. It took me around 10 minutes:

Also, I found this cool tool by Team Porygon on their website. It's what I used to track the data shown above: https://team-porygon-pokemmo.pages.dev/utilities/RockSmash
