Popular Post MightyMichele Posted July 27 Popular Post Posted July 27 Hey PokeMMO community, I hope everyone is doing fine. I hope some of you are enjoying the latest event, "PokeMMO Shiny Wars!" that runs from July 22nd to September 22nd. It's been exciting to see teams coming together and competing to catch the most shiny Pokémon. However, I wanted to share some concerns regarding the event's name. The word "War" in the event title might be a bit misleading and could be replaced with a term that better represents the spirit of the competition. While the event is a team-based challenge to see who can catch the most shiny Pokémon, the term "war" can evoke images of conflict and violence, which is quite contrary to the fun and friendly nature of this event. I've also noticed some players wearing military hats in the overworld, which further emphasizes a war-like theme. This could potentially transmit the idea that it is not a friendly competition. If may I write a name, I think a term like "Challenge" or "Quest" would better convey the fun and adventurous spirit of the event, without the negative connotations that come with "War". With love, MightyMichele nayoe, JohannHeinrich, Matthzinxl and 38 others 3 4 32 2

iloveubro Posted July 27 Posted July 27 I completely agree with Michele about the importance of not using the word "war" in a game as friendly as PokeMMO. The essence of this game is the search for peace, harmony and, of course, the exciting journey of trainers in search of the much-coveted shiny Pokémon. PokeMMO is an environment where players from all over the world come together to share their adventures, exchange experiences and, above all, have fun. The word "war" carries connotations of conflict and destruction, something that goes completely against the collaborative and friendly spirit that defines the PokeMMO community. Instead, we should celebrate the camaraderie and sportsmanship that permeates every coaching encounter. Shiny hunters, in particular, deserve special mention. These dedicated trainers spend hours, days, and even weeks searching for Pokémon with rare colors, driven by passion and patience. The search for shinies is not just an in-game activity, but a true art that requires strategy, perseverance and, often, a good dose of luck. Each shiny found is a personal victory, a trophy that symbolizes dedication and love for the game. Additionally, the shiny hunter community is known for its generosity and willingness to help other players. They share tips, strategies, and even their own Pokémon to help other trainers achieve their goals. This spirit of cooperation and mutual support is what makes PokeMMO such a special and welcoming place. Therefore, instead of talking about "war", we should exalt the peace and harmony that reign in PokeMMO. We must celebrate the shiny hunters and all the trainers who, with their actions, make the game a space of friendship and fun. May we continue to seek out our shinies with joy and camaraderie, always remembering that the true value of PokeMMO lies in the connections we make and the adventures we share. with perseverance, Iloveyoubro. drewq, RysPicz, JerichoBR and 6 others 3 4 2

Popular Post Doctor Posted July 27 Popular Post Posted July 27 Hey PokeMMO community, I hope everyone is doing exceptionally well! It’s truly heartwarming to see how events like "PokeMMO Shiny Wars!" bring us all together in such a spirited competition. However, I couldn’t agree more with MightyMichele’s insightful observation about the event's name potentially sending the wrong message. In fact, I believe we should take this one step further to ensure our beloved community remains a beacon of positivity and inclusivity. Here are some additional suggestions to further refine the event and avoid any unintended connotations: Rename the Event: While "Challenge" or "Quest" are excellent alternatives, why stop there? Let's aim for a title that exudes pure joy and camaraderie. How about "PokeMMO Shiny Friendship Parade!" or "PokeMMO Sparkle Gathering Extravaganza!" These names would surely reflect the playful and joyous nature of our shiny-catching adventures. Revise the Rewards: Instead of the competitive "who can catch the most" format, we could reward players for the sheer act of participating. Perhaps every player who catches a shiny could receive a "Certificate of Sparkle Appreciation." This way, everyone feels like a winner, and there’s no pressure or semblance of rivalry. Modify In-Game Apparel: The military hats might indeed be sending mixed signals. Let’s replace them with more whimsical and friendly headgear. Imagine players donning "Rainbow Unicorn Horns" or "Fluffy Bunny Ears." These would not only promote a more peaceful atmosphere but also add a touch of fun and fantasy to our game world. Adjust the Language: We should be cautious with all competitive language. Instead of "teams" and "competition," we could use "friend groups" and "celebration." For example, "Gather with your friend groups to celebrate the most sparkles collected!" This way, we completely steer clear of any competitive undertones. Event Activities: To further ensure no one feels left out, we could introduce collaborative activities. How about a "Shiny Pokémon Dance Party" where players show off their shiny catches in a festive dance-off? Or a "Sparkle Sharing Circle" where players can trade shiny Pokémon in a spirit of generosity and community. Community Outreach: Finally, let's involve the community in a more inclusive manner. We could organize a "PokeMMO Kindness Week" leading up to the event, where players perform random acts of kindness in-game and share their stories. This would surely set the tone for a friendly and warm-hearted event. I sincerely hope these suggestions resonate with the community and organizers alike. By making these thoughtful adjustments, we can ensure that our events are not only fun but also promote the core values of kindness, inclusivity, and friendship. Im sorry but i need disagree. You were one of the Brazilian soldiers who participated in the war between Brazil and Venezuela, you were on the front line. You were responsible for the downfall of many of my compatriots, in a, literal, war. (Purposeful errors) The blood of innocent people runs through your hands, even if Wallaro and Carol took your arm, you haven't lost enough yet. Others may not understand, but you know what I'm talking about, My biggest mistake in life was participating in that war and killing the love of my life with my own hands. Qiao'Er is now dead. As revenge for the life of my beloved Carol. Yes Pedro! I was born in Brazil, but my heart and spirit are Venezuelan now. With anguish, OliverXLive. Summrs, Doctor, Shadow and 2 others 2 3

HumongousNoodle Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Hey PokeMMO community, I hope everyone is still having a blast hunting those shinies in "PokeMMO Shiny Wars!" Look, I get it, "war" might sound a bit intense for a game about catching adorable digital monsters. But come on, what's more thrilling than the epic clash of trainers battling it out for the ultimate bragging rights? It’s like calling your grandma's knitting contest a “knit-off”—it adds some spice! And about those military hats—why not let trainers express their inner commando? It's all about strategy and precision, just like in real battles... or, you know, trying to catch that shiny Magikarp that keeps slipping away. MightyMichele, you’ve got some good intentions, but maybe it's time to consider a name change for yourself. "Mighty" suggests that the rest of us aren't, and we can't have that kind of hierarchy in our community. How about "ModerateMichele"? It keeps things balanced and inclusive without implying any kind of hierarchy. With more sarcasm than love, HumongousNoodle. RysPicz, Razachu, hannahtaylor and 11 others 2 3 8 1

Hjortsson Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Dear MightyMichele, Thank you for articulating such a thoughtful concern. As an unofficial shiny war veteran, I can empathize deeply with your sentiments. The term "War" indeed evokes connotations of conflict and strife, which starkly contrasts with the joyous and friendly essence of our beloved community and events. I must commend your courage in addressing this matter within our community. Opting for terms such as "Challenge" or "Quest" would more accurately capture the spirit of camaraderie and adventure we cherish. Your suggestion is invaluable in ensuring the event remains inviting and enjoyable for all. With the utmost respect and admiration, Hjortsson Brendanios, Matchoox and MightyMichele 1 1 1
HumongousNoodle Posted July 27 Posted July 27 4 minutes ago, hannahtaylor said: *AdequatelySizedNoodle, Alright, listen up, pasta enthusiast. I have a bone to pick with the entire noodle industry. Normal-sized noodles are completely useless for typing words. And yes, I’m talking linguine, spaghetti, fettuccine—all of them. Here’s the cold, hard truth, backed by math. The average noodle is about 2mm in diameter. The average keyboard key is approximately 1.5cm². This means a single noodle only covers about 1/75th of a key. Imagine trying to hit individual keys with something that thin—it’s like trying to write an essay with a toothpick dipped in soy sauce! Let’s do some more math. The average word is about 5 characters long. To type out a single word with normal-sized noodles, you'd need a precision of about 0.03mm per keystroke. That’s smaller than the thickness of human hair! And that’s without even considering the space bar. It’s physically impossible unless you’re some kind of noodle-wielding ninja. Therefore, I propose we start making keyboard-friendly noodles. We're talking a solid 1.5cm in diameter, perfect for mashing those keys with noodle power. In conclusion, normal-sized noodles are a disgrace to noodle-kind when it comes to typing. Let's demand better from our pasta producers. The future of noodle-based communication depends on it!
