Increase shiny odds again on xmas?

I know this is a bit too early but I believe I speak for majority of the player-base in saying that we're hoping for another shiny boost this xmas event.

A major concern with a Christmas only shiny boost is that it will centralize gameplay for rare shinies.  The in game ditto and fossil market will become entirely centered around the 2 week yearly boost.

idc about shinies in general, nor any talk about market stuff. I am 150k dry and I just want my shunt over with, as I am not blessed with insane luck like other players. I'm pretty sure people in my shoes would want that too, even just for the xmas. Hope that satisfies.

Im not saying that this should be the ONLY feature this xmas event. I'm reading my post again, and I don't see me mentioning that. weird. I agree that last year was a let-down because they somehow didnt let us fight the xmas bosses last year, but since they already gave us a taste of the shiny boost last year, why not add it along with other plans they have in store this year?

He simply asked if there was going to be shiny rate buff like last year. And afaik shiny hunters is on par if not > than the pvp community right now. Seriously.. how many people took part in that shiny event. Thousands. If you're a shiny hunter this is absolutely something you would want so he just might be speaking for the "majority".

 

Edit: As far as pve goes we might get something special this end year. I have a feeling we'll get the elf dungeons back and then of course more raid content.

true. i think it's fair to believe that majority of the community is composed of shiny hunters (including players who do both pvp and shiny hunting since anyone one who shiny hunts logically falls in that category). And i think it's only logical to assume that if you ask a random shiny hunter to choose between a shiny odd boost or no shiny odd boost , majority of players would probably answer the former.

 

to add, in case some people missed  the definition, majority doesn't mean ALL PLAYERS, but only a little more than just a half of the player base.

cause it's the holidays and people have free time? im not a full-time shiny hunter myself as it is something i would only do when i have nothing else on my plate, but if i were gonna spend some time to shunt, i would prefer it with a boost, albeit rare to happen. also, plus odds means less probabiitly of work for the shiny hunter, i believe

The Christmas event is typically 2 weeks long, right? Maybe a little more/less.

 

How is that worse for the shiny market than a 2-month long shiny war which encouraged 1500 people to shiny hunt non-stop for 2 months?

 

Can we not romanticize shiny hunting, it's just a short boost on a season that's centered towards gift giving.

Either that or maybe majority of the community doesn't care about game balance in the first place. Majority of players are just players and would want to keep it that way. Some don't want to spend the trouble of stressing on balancing the game's shiny economy since, more or less, the chinese have already ruined it for some people when they dominated the economy. Look, if you want to gatekeep your shinies, then that's fair. No problem. Shinies should have a certain value to them that should be upheld and not every person should get a hold of a rare shiny OT with a small amount of effort. But all this talk is meaningless to a player who only wants to have his shiny OT, regardless of economy, and regardless of the monetary value capitalism has placed on it.

Although I agree with you wanting a shiny boost this Christmas, game balance is an integral part of PokeMMO. If balancing is set aside, this game wouldn't survive for over a decade.

It is, and I won't pretend that it's not. I just don't understand how a small boost on a small period of time would ruin the game balance when there are numerous ways of burning shinies like breeding and trading them for prismatic pearls. Others just simply want to keep their shinies for count flex, while others who shiny hunt for business are most probably botters who would get banned anyway.
