Posted November 17, 2024Nov 17 Few arguments against payday 1. Economic Inflation Uncapped income: Payday allows players to create wealth indefinitely out of nothing. This reduces the value of the in-game currency. This makes Pokemon, items, and services more expensive for everyone. Other means of harm: Other money-making activities, such as participation in farming or NPC battle mechanics. It requires more effort and strategic planning. Payday farming makes these methods trivial because there is an easier and more guaranteed source of income. 2. Promotes repeated gameplay Monotonous Grind: Payday Farming involves repetitive motions for hours on end. This makes the game feel more like a grind than an engaging experience. Players spend too much time spamming the same buttons endlessly. Instead, we should be incentivising exploring the diverse and fun aspects of the game. For example, having timers on other money-making methods incentivises a variety of methods to be used to gain Pokeyen. Stifles creativity: Focusing on payday farming can cause players to neglect to experiment with different strategies, team building, or competitive play. 3. Lore and Immersion Issues (More idealistic take) Breaks Immersion: In Pokémon, money is usually tied to specific battles or trainer interactions. Pay Day farming feels unnatural, breaking the immersion of an otherwise well-designed in-game economy. 4. Encourages Exploits: Payday farming leads to bots or automated systems that exploit the mechanic, further destabilizing the game’s economy and discouraging fair play. Removing it would allow for more dev and staff time to be dedicated to things that matter to improve the game. Conclusion While Pay Day farming offers a straightforward way for players to earn money, its potential to harm the in-game economy, encourage repetitive gameplay and create imbalances might outweigh its benefits. Removing or heavily nerfing Pay Day could push players toward more dynamic and engaging activities while fostering a healthier in-game economy.

Interesting idea though its hard for me to imagine paydaying as a route many would take for income unless they were botting. On instant text speed it takes 20 seconds to payday a monster and around 2061 encounters to make a million pokeyen (each payday earning 485$) That would take around 16 hours of non stop paydaying to make one million, and while it is possible for someone out there to be playing like this I don't think thats commonly practiced. I fully accept that I might incorrect with that assumption. Also, I feel that grindy-ness of PokeMMO is a feature rather than a bug. Edited November 17, 2024Nov 17 by Erriiieeee
November 17, 2024Nov 17 economy inflation when e4 and gym runs exist aswell as being able to sell untradable items and berries to npc at a decent value is kinda... just an extra problem. (although that would be one less incentive to botting which is good) I for one want a butcher knife so I can sell slowpoke tails like on the anime to feel the immersion

November 17, 2024Nov 17 Payday, both in its past and potentially current form, reduces economic strategy and negatively impacts multiplayer dynamics by overshadowing diverse ways in making money and discouraging player interaction. Economic h.o.m.ogenization hurts Pokemmo because it makes the game less balanced and takes away the fun of trying different ways to earn money. Edited November 17, 2024Nov 17 by Summrs

November 17, 2024Nov 17 It would be wrong to remove Pay Day as a money making method, but if it's too lucrative then I wouldn't be against nerfing it. Some nerfs that popped into my head going from simplest to most complex: Lower the multiplier used for calculating the amount earned. I personally wouldn't go below 5. Decrease Pay Day's PP to force more time spent traveling between farming locations and PC or more money spent on Leppa berries. Decrease the Power of Pay Day to reduce earnings by extending time spent in battle. Add RNG to it, similar to Pickup. Add a cooldown for each individual Pokémon. Player has Meowth 1 and Meowth 2 on their team. Message pops up that reads "Meowth 1 is tired from collecting coins." Meowth 1 needs to be placed in the PC to recover but the player can still Pay Day farm with Meowth 2 until it gets tired. Ultimately, I think the main problem is the botting. If botting/automation was eliminated, Pay Day wouldn't need to be removed or maybe nerfed.
November 17, 2024Nov 17 The devs would stop having a problem with the pay day bots and could focus on the gtl bots. It would be interesting to disable pay day for a month and see the results
