The Elfbot Dungeon is an exciting feature of Xmas activity, but after experiencing it extensively, I believe a few changes may enhance its gameplay and overall enjoyment:
1. Transition to Player-Owned Pokémon Only
One of the most appreciated aspects of the dungeon was the ability to bring our own Pokémon. However, the mixture of using both Elfbots and player Pokémon led to confusion during battles. To improve clarity and strategy, I propose removing Elfbots from player control entirely and making the dungeon exclusively reliant on the Pokémon players bring. This would encourage team composition planning, deeper strategy, and overall engagement while maintaining the dungeon's challenge.
2. Maintain and Expand Boss Variety
One of the best parts of the dungeon is the variety of bosses, each with unique mechanics. This diversity keeps the experience fresh and exciting. Any future upgrades should continue to introduce different mechanics for bosses, as this is something the community truly loves.
3. Shorten Dungeon Runs or Improve Long Session Support
Currently, players can spend dozens of hours inside a single instance, which can be exhausting. To improve the experience, I suggest:
- Making dungeon runs shorter and requiring re-entry, ensuring a more dynamic gameplay loop.
- If the goal is to encourage long sessions, implement a sleep alarm or prevent players from being kicked due to inactivity.
- Introducing a system that lets players rejoin the instance if they disconnect due to internet issues, preventing unnecessary frustration.
I hope my suggestions may improve the dungeon’s accessibility while maintaining its strategic depth and engaging boss mechanics. Looking eagerly for Xmas activity on 2025!
