WonderfulWig Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Hello! Just wanted to make an official post, mainly for myself as a sort of time stamp but also to introduce myself and the way I like to play Pokémon games, and the adaptation I'm going to take playing PokeMMO! I go by the nickname "Wig" (because I had long curly hair growing up and it just stuck) and I'm from the UK. Firstly, I played way back when in 2016, never even completed a region as I just found the game very slow without speed up, however, I have came back recently and completed all regions this year on a new character! I have dabbled in breeding, GTL trading, socialising in a team, shiny hunting, alpha hunting, completed the Pokédex and even some competitive Pokémon battles! However, going forward I feel like there isn't much more being offered to me in terms of longevity for the game, and therefore I am going to go back to my routes of how I rekindled my love for the Pokémon games in the form of Nuzlocking! (This isn't me badgering the game in any sort of way, I am sure there is plenty to do, in which I just do not have the personal motivation to do myself). Everyone knows the standard rulesets of Nuzlockes by now: Nuzlocke rules Catch Only catch the first wild Pokémon in an area Fainting Pokémon that faint are considered dead and can't be used again Nickname Nickname all Pokémon you catch or obtain As simple as these rules are, in a setting such as PokeMMO, it can be a little different, what with the GTL and Alpha Pokémon roaming around. Therefore, on top of these simple rules, I will be adding the extra imposed challenge of: Wig's Nuzlocke rules No Items You cannot use the "Items" during battle (exception of Pokéballs) No GTL No use of the Global Trade Link or trading with other players Region(s) To complete PokeMMO in the original order (Kanto 1st, Johto 2nd) The fun I find in these kind of rulesets are that it is very challenging and it means that fights are much harder and preparation is key to solving puzzling fights! Once a region is completed, I can return to them anytime I like, however the rules will still apply, with the mixed set of "ironman mode" gameplay. I am personally not sure how relevant or popular the Nuzlocking community is, but again I was just making this post for myself, and to see if there is any interest in anyone caring about how this run goes! Hope my introduction to the game wasn't too long, although I did enjoy writing this out and getting excited about what's next to come! Lastly, if there is any teams or people interested in this sort of gameplay, I would love to be able to connect with them and talk while playing, it would be great to have a team of challenging account types together and helping each other out! Nionaku Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Excited to see where this journey takes you! I am personally only following the fainting rule to make the game a bit more realistic, but very curious if a full nuzlocke run with your additional rules can be completed. Especially since trainers and gym leaders have waaay better movesets and IVs/EVs.
