Haven't touched this game for like 2 years - what happened?

I'm kinda bored atm so I figured I might give this game another shot, logged in, chat was 99% spanish spam.

 

Managed turning most the spanish spam off, tried asking global what changed and if i should take special care of any cool legacy pokemons i might have noone replied, whispered a CM that posted earlier - didnt get a reply either...

 

 

Is everyone in the community like wicked toxic or spanish speaking?

What happened?!

 

Should I just not bother giving it another try and keep letting my account rot?

Updates

 

  • New breeding mechanics
  • You are able to travel between Hoenn and Kanto now.
  • Shard tutors (You'll need to catch specific Pokemon to obtain shards)
  • Starters can now be caught in the wild.
  • Secret Bases
  • Physical/Special split mechanics
  • There are 350 available Pokemon to catch now.
  • Mewtwo, but you're not able to keep it. (PVP Event)
  • Official events don't give tradeable shiny Pokemon as prizes anymore. (Red Tent OP) (Low tier shinies are an exception)

This is the new update

Features
 

General

  • Initial Battle Frontier support
  • Added Permadeath support. All party members in PvE battles will now permanently decease if they are defeated.
  • Overworld Legendaries may now be caught permanently once a player wins 50 concurrent battles against unique players.
  • Added Character Deletion functionality.

Facebook Connect support

  • Added "Share on Facebook" and "Share on Twitter" buttons in the Main Menu
  • Every unique share on Facebook/Twitter will now net you $1k in-game as well as a chance for a free Mystery Box.
  • If your Facebook post is Shared 10 times or Liked 25 times, your Elite 4 cooldown will now be removed for 24 hours.
  • If your Facebook post is Shared 50 times or Liked 250 times, you will now receive 500RP

Overworld Hat Effects

  • Shards may now be ground up and glued onto hats in order to provide them with traits.
  • Introduced the following overworld hat effects:
    • Repel- Prevent wild encounters and NPC trainers from aggroing at a random chance (100%-.2% per Proc). Coincides with the Blue shard.
    • EXP+- Increase party EXP gain by +300% (-1%/Battle). Coincides with the Yellow shard.
    • IV+- Wild encounters have a minimum of (31-UsageCount) IVs on (6-UsageCount) different stats. Coincides with the Green shard.
    • EV+- On death, wild encounters will now provide (Base EV)*(9-UsageCount) EVs to all active party members. Coincides with the Red shard.
    • All hats' traits are subject to durability and will wear down depending on usage.
  • Hats purchased from the Gift Shop will have infinite durability of traits applied to them.
  • Hats with Traits will no longer be tradeable.
  • Only one Hat with a Trait may be active at a time.

Cosmetics

  • Character sprites have been remodeled to more closely resemble GBA sprites.
  • Removed support for HG/SS visual enhancements.

GUI

  • Added /recruit chat command- This chat command sends a message to all players on the server that your Team is recruiting.
  • Added /wts chat command- This chat command sends a message to all players on the server that your party member is for sale.
  • Added support for certain chat -> emote aliases. Currently supported emotes are:
    • LennyFaceNoSpace ->  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Balancing
 

General

  • Trainer Tower BP payout reduced by 20%
  • Running Shoes and Bicycles now have durability. Usage of these items will reduce their durability. Durability may be restored with a small fee.
  • Healing party members will now cost a small fee. Larger species cost more to heal. Ghost/Psychic types now require special healing in Graveyards in order to restore their mental health.
  • HM usage now has a small cooldown associated with each effect.
  • Removed Berry Merchant.

Breeding

  • Parents are no longer consumed on being bred.
  • New egg hatching mechanics:
    • Added "Egg Case." The Egg Case functions as a 7th party slot which will hold your egg while incubating.
    • Added "Egg Temperature" support. Egg temperatures are affected by your current map's temperature. If the temperature of the egg becomes too cold, too warm, or you take too long to hatch the egg, the egg will now decease.
    • All species now fall within 10 blood groups, each of which require different temperatures to hatch.
    • Each map now falls within 5 categories of temperature; MILD COOL COLD WARM HOT

Happiness

  • Happiness will now affect the battle performance of your party.
  • Lower happiness will temporarily result in lower effective IVs.
  • Added support for Negative IVs. Negative IVs will reduce the power of moves and cause PP exhaustion to occur at faster rates.
  • Feeding berries to your party will now improve their happiness.

PVP

  • Official tier lists are no longer supported
  • Tournament Mode will now abide by VGC rules

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where Shinies would appear in the wild without Donator Status being active.
  • Fixed an issue where Flash's overworld effects would persist after the caster fainted.
  • Fixed an issue where the Elite 4 cooldown would begin counting down when the player entered instead of after completion/failure.

i have to assume that you guys are only replying because of what seems to be like an april fools changelog.

As you can see, this is what the forums have become. As for in-game play there has been a plethora of changes. New blood is rare and don't stick around very much and the old guard has primarily began to stick to in-team dialogue over channel chat or global chat. Global moderators are no where near as dedicated to moderating global or interacting with the community in-game as they used to. You also rarely see any of the developers in-game aside from the rare moments before an update. 

All-in-all, it's still a great game with a lot of new things to explore. Enjoy it or get out, it makes no difference.

This won't do, I haven't been on the game much but I will be this week, if enough love is shown to global, not random trading, I will start working on the prize for the next tournament I will be holding.
