better trainer school

ThePrettyPetard

Question

the idea is fairly simple get rid of the old text for kids in the trainer school and replace it with actual knowledge about some "advanced stuff" much more usefull for them in the long run

1. have one of the npc talk about the difference between phisical and special attack

2. maybe one for the deffense  and special deffense has well

3. one that talk about basic ev training

4. maybe one telling you about the ev reducing berries (could be the same has the last one)

5. why not have one mention about the dex allowing you to see the move a pokemon can learn

6. maybe one that tells you about nature and how to tell if your pokemon is naturally more suited for some build

this could potentially also be class from the teacher?

yeah i have no clue how many people are in that trainer school or how it exactly work, but i think you get the point allready.

this idea also has the bonus to allow older player to tell newbie to get back to school while actually helping them.

just bumping this up a little since it got down the list fairly quickly and the lack of people commenting never got it up

There's nothing wrong the concept, it's just unrealistic to expect it to make much of a difference when it's optional dialogue that everyone will likely skip.

honestly 60% of the motivation to have this is for the fun to tell the noobs to get back to school while actually being helpfull. but hey even if it only get read by 5% of people that's still a step in the good direction tho making it a madatory thing to visit would probably make a fairly big difference. there is no foolproof idea to make things better but the more foolproof the better usually (has long has you don't hold their hand for too long).

Honestly I would be surprised if it was even 1%.

If you make it mandatory obviously that number changes, but then you bombard the player with lots of information at once and you lose their interest/make the game not very fun to play.

true but you could say the same about people who hits the wall of the harder ai of pokemmo and just can't proggress, many have a lost of interest and fun play.

now what about insted of bombarding them with all the info by making them take all class you just make them either:

1. take only one class.

effect: could make those unaware notice the interesting information and those not giving a fuck not waste to much time

2. insted make them pass a simple test about the knowledge these class can teach you to earn some kind of diploma.

effect: much more foolproof idea to force the noob to learn usefull stuff but yeah it can be a fun killer for a few since it's a pretty big amount of information at once that need to be taken but at least it wouldn't affect much those with that information allready.
