[GUI] Hide Move Effectiveness in Battle HELP Request

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I really want to hide the move effectiveness in battles.. Just to be abundantly clear, I am not wanting to REMOVE the move effectiveness feature from the game but only hide the information underneath my ability when I am in a battle.. I have attached an image to this post to show you exactly what I am talking about.

Just to reiterate, I simply want to hide it exclusively on my screen. Some highly intelligent and sincere people have already suggested I stick some small pieces of paper to my monitor in selected areas to cover it. And while this remains a valid option, I am of course hoping to find a more sophisticated method of hiding it. ;) (Insert sarcasm).

I am hoping to find a theme/GUI edit. I am currently using the Archetype GUI Mod. And while this addition has made the move effectiveness much less visible, I would still like to hide it completely.

If you have read this far, THANKS!!

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

@realmadrid1809 replied to the archetype thread with a code excerpt for you to remove to achieve your desired result.

As for the default theme, without getting into any coding- this can be done by simply replacing the effectiveness text assets with blank ones. Afterwards, you can then adjust the move name font size to accommodate for the empty space in the battle button.

Inside the spoiler below I have attached a blank version of the effectiveness text. This should be compatible with all themes.

Dude thank you so so much!! I have followed yours and realmadrid's instructions and it works just perfect! If you didnt know already, back in the original Pokemon Red and Blue days this is exactly how the game was 🙂 I remember because I was obsessed with those games as a six year old boy! Good times indeed and I'm super happy I can have that same experience now with Pokemmo! It makes the game a lot more challenging I find..and requires that you remember what moves are good against what type pokemon etc. Since switching back to this way of playing thanks to yours and realmadrid's aid, I have made some bad decisions in battles which has made the battle go a lot closer just for example. THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU!!!

To add to this, if anyone else also wants to remove those hints but doesn't neccesarily want another theme; inside the themes folder you have the Default and Android folders: copy the default folder, call it something else (ie defaultLessHandholdy), and replace the "effectivity_buttons_en.png" (or whatever language) inside the folder "res" with that blank file that nurver9 posted.

Then in game change the theme in settings > interface I believe.
