Question About Koga

I'm fairly new to pokemmo and was wondering what would be a good group comp to defeat the 5th gym leader which is koga, i started in kanto if that helps any and chose charmander as starting.

if you are underleveled you can also do saffron city first - there is no order in which you have to do them.

 

other than that psychic types do really well vs koga, for example a starmie

thank you i have 4 badges already and was following the kanto story guide written by a user here is it possible for me to go get the exp share first so i can level up pokemons easier since i would have to go catch a starmie or something?
