Co-op 2v2s?

I'm a new player looking to get into this with a friend. When you make a party, are you able to do 2v2's with the NPCS? Is that a feature that's gonna be coming in the future if it isn't already one? I'll still get into this regardless because I love Pokemon.

I think you can only do that in the battle frontier

Yes you can, you can participate in link battles with a friend against NPCs at the Battle Tower in the Hoenn Battle Frontier. To do so, you create a link with your friend by sending him an 'invite to link' when you right click him and then signup. Excluding seasonal events e.g. Christmas event last year, the Hoenn Battle Frontier is currently the only place where you can do this.
