We have accepted the late signups of BurntZebra and Daryl (whatever was the name of his main account currently). The late signups were accepted because the process to assign them to their team was easy - BurntZebra was moved to the only USA team and Daryl has joined the "Rest of Europe" team. We will reserve the right to refuse any late signups if they would cause too much of a hassle, in terms of rearranging teams and whatnot. Teams, remember to submit your captain by Sunday!

Welcome you all to the start of the PokeMMO World Cup. It is with great joy that I want to inform you all that the teams and brackets are all ready. As a reminder I'll post the rules of the event here We'll also implement a penalty system which will be used in this world cup. There's going to be yellow and red cards. 1 yellow card will be a warning 2 yellow cards equal a red card and also a suspension. You will be in charge of arranging the duel time with your opponents. Hosts will make a weekly post where the lineups of each team and who they face that week. If you have any difficulties arranging a time to duel with your opponent, the captains should reach out to the hosts and seek for help. You should always be respectful towards your opponent, in case a player has a certain emergency, before making a substitution, you should reach out to a host and explain to them what's going on and who is going to substitute who. Each week will be played from Wednesday to Wednesday. In case a duel is failed to be played before the deadline, an activity call will be made by the hosts. If one player was significantly more active than the other player, the more active player will receive an activity win for that game. In cases where the hosts cannot definitely determine the more active player, the game will be ruled a no-contest (tie). If your game was failed to be played, please contact the hosts immediately at the end of the week with proof that you were showing significant effort to make this match to happen. However, do not tank and try to fish for activity wins as this is considered poor sportsmanship - every participant should always do everything they can to make the matches happen by playing. This is the scoring method for each team during each round: Win 3 points Tie 1 Point Loss 0 Points. In case of something like that happening, the host will award the losing team with a victory by default on that round. I want to inform you that each team should decide on their captain and tell the hosts directly since the captain will be in charge of sending the weekly line ups to the hosts. Captains will also receive tournament related information from the hosts . Captains should also speak to the hosts if there's any internal disputes in the team which will be solved by working in conjunction with them, also don't forget that captains are also allowed to play. So currently we're standing at: 11 Spanish 9 Peruvian 8 Argentine 7 Colombian 7 Venezuelan 6 Brazilian 5 Mexican 4 American 3 German 3/4 Portuguese 2/3 Belgian 2 Kiwi 2 Chilean 2 Turkish 2 French 2 English / British (depends how it's happening with this one) And lots of countries with only 1 player. And some probably overlooked. Keep in mind: If the signups for your team are closing in for 14 or over, you may begin to discuss with your countrymen if you want to split your team into two separate teams. If you wish to do that, let hosts know which players you would prefer to play with. Furthermore, if it seems like you cannot make a team from your countrymen - you may start discussing which countries you would prefer to make a combination team of. @Oltan pointed out to me there's lots of really creative ways to do so, and in some other Pokemon World Cups they have already done this pretty well. You may call your team "Afrabs" (African + Arabs, apparently used in WCoP) or anything of sorts to resemble the nationalities of the players your combination team is made of. Regardless, really happy to see almost 90 signups within 17 hours from the first post. Keep it up!

Sorry, but we can't allow this because then we would have to allow it for everyone and then it kind of kills the idea of the tournament. Just because you don't have enough people playing from your country doesn't mean you can't play in this event at all. For example, if there's 7 players from Europe who don't have a country team to play with - a combination team like "Rest of Europe" may be formed just to make sure everyone can take part of this event. This is why we wish you would sign up to play for a country you're actually a citizen of, or permanently living in.
