    Hey there! I have come across an ODD bug while fighting against the Gym Leader Giovanni...

    When he ends the dialogue and goes to start the fight, I get stuck on a black screen. I can still hear music, but I can't select anything, so I know that I'm stuck before the battle can begin.

    I'm wondering if any one of you guys have encountered the same bug and what could cause it. I have already completed the side quest that has you go to the Number islands with Bill to fix the PC, but even after finishing that, I can't fight him.

    I can use savestates and I have one just before I talk to him, but other than that, I can't actually do anything that I think would solve the problem.

    It could be the emulator.

    I know that sometimes ROMs will bug out on certain emulators.

    I remember Shantae worked perfectly fine on one emulator but freaked out to the point it became unplayable on VBA.

    Currently I use JohnGBAC and haven't had any real problems. It's on android devices (you can search it in the GooglePlay store).

    Hi, I just download the new version of this game. And for some reason I cannot play it on my emulator. I'm using Visual Boy Advance by the way, and I don't know why it's not working. Can somebody explain me how?

    If you have an Android phone or tablet you can use JohnGBA or JohnGBAC.

    They are in the GooglePlay store.

    Step 1 :

    Download a clean FireRed rom named "1636 - Pokemon Fire Red (U)(Squirrels).gba"

    *Search it on Google or something*

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Step 2 :
    Download an IPS patcher ( I personally use Lunar IPS )
    *Again, you can search for it in Google*
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Step 3 :

    Open your IPS patcher, select the Moemon IPS file ( the file you downloaded from here ; extracting is optimal ), then select the Pokemon FireRed rom to start patching.

    *Getting duplicates of the FireRed rom and the Moemon IPS file for backup is advised so you can try it again if it (somehow) fails*

    After patching, you should get the modified FireRed rom with Moemons in it.

    *Renaming it is advised so you wouldn't get confused which is the Moemon rom and which is the clean FireRed rom.*

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Step 4
    Open your VBA ( this emulator works best for GBA games ; download it if you haven't yet ; I personally use VBA Link though so I can trade Pokémons ) , go to Option, then Emulator, click Save Type, then select Automatic AND 128k Flash. This is done so that your save files won't be corrupted.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Step 5

    In your VBA, select File, choose Open, then navigate to where your Moemon rom (the modified FireRed) is saved.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Your game should be working at this point, starting from selecting a gender, name, rival and starter Moemon. Enjoy and hope this helps.
    Lunar doesn't work in this case as the files are too big.
    I've tried it. I had to use Upset (which is made by the same person iirc).
    I can't seem to patch it, I downloaded the gba files of fire red but I tried everything (different gba files of different fire red versions) But it still didn't work...
    It also says to patch the evee file with the mega moemon fire red gba file but I also don't have that. I only have the UPS files... Can someone help me?
    (Extra info: I am using lunar IPS to patch things)
    (I downloaded the moemon version 1.1.8 but I don't have the gba file)
    Don't use Lunar. Use Upset instead. It's another rom patcher and can work with files that Lunar can't.
    can play on android?
    Yeah just download the John GBA emulator from the GooglePlay store.
    There is a free version (with ads) and a paid version (no ads and I think some features that the free version doesn't have).
    You will still have to patch the ROM file on a pc or similar device though.
    Other posts have said what you need.
    That's a decent composite, but Lopunny is a moemon a lot of people have opinions on. You should join the discord server and maybe use some different bases we have.
    Also, NEVER save as JPEG when doing pixelart. The PNG format is needed.
    Yep! Transparency is 100% necessary when creating sprites. Otherwise you'll have a big white (or sometimes black) box around everything which doesn't look nice at all.
  7. Lunar IPS keeps giving me this error when I try to create the ips file (Screen Shot).
    I can't use Lunar IPS on a UPS file to patch the rom file.
    The rom file is the correct one.
    Is there another patcher I can use?
    EDIT: I got the rom patched. I used the patcher called upset.
