Choosing Charmander isn't a stupid idea trust me ^^ Feel free to ask any questions at any time, I'd be glad to help. I had caught a Pikachu in Viridian Forest (even though I had no intention of using it fully in my party), that's how I beat Misty. If you can't find anything for effectiveness just grind till your stronger in general. But hai and welcome! :3
