  1. I have an idea. All of the minipics shouldn't all be red. For example Bulbasaur's would be Green, Squirtle's would be blue, Charizard would be Red and Dragonite would be orange. Then it would be easier to tell which Pokemon is which.
  2. I can take care of the trainers. The hack will be done so just be patient please. Mobius how are you with the sprites? I noticed some stray pixels on Charizard and the colors on the front Charmeleons look off. Also some of the colors look faded. I think you're ripping using gameboy colors instead of real colors. Real colors look a lot better (which is what I'm also using for the maps) Otherwise good job.
  3. http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/gsctrainerpics.html Here you go.
  4. So was mine, but I understand the reality of the situation. If you want it so badly, why don't you help so things can get done faster?
  5. This should probably be done in November. It's not that long.
  6. Very cool. You can work on that while I work on the maps. Would you mind posting your daily progress so we can keep everyone updated at how far this project has gone?
  7. Looking back at what I wrote, I lol'd too. Anyway I made a checklist on the first post so you can see what needs to get done.
  8. That's pretty cool. Well if you can make some G/S/C 8-bit music I'll include it for sure..
  9. That is what I'm planning to do, just havent gotten around to it yet. Great to see other ROM Hackers around. And that note about the cut tree wasn't just for you, but anyone who wouldn't understand why that wasn't downgraded at the time like the map tiles. If you want to help with production somehow just let me know, we can make this a somewhat collaborative project between ROM hackers. Speaking of collaborative... I was considering using some of Pokemon Prism's sprites (Don't worry they have been overhauled since the last release), but I might give you a list later on of some I'll need. Thanks for offering to help. As for the music, do you know if the client reading the music data from the ROM and playing it, or are the midis using Fire Red's instruments embedded into the client?
  10. Overlooked that, thanks for pointing it out. Noted and fixed for all of the outdoor maps. (I have to still alter that cut tree sprite. In GSC it was part of the actual map in FRLG it's an overworld sprite instead) Yes that would be I. Glad you like my works :P Hopefully I can get this patch 100% done by the end of the year since production is already speedy, but no promises. Another thing I realized is that the map headers are all client or server side (Which makes sense, just like the collision) but that data contains the tileset number called. So I'll have to overwrite all the cave tilesets with the GSC one (Except Icefall cave will use the ice path tileset)
  11. Do you think it would be better if the mouth was colored black instead of the selected color? The mouth is the same color as the player's clothes in GSC too. I don't have anything in mind for right now, but thanks. I finished fixing up all of the outdoor maps to look Gen II like tonight (Just the cities, towns, routes, island towns and island routes). All of that and the insertion of that sprite took a total of 4-5 hours iirc. I've been ROM hacking for a while so I feel pretty confident. I have one completed Gen I hack out (Pokemon Brown) and a Gen II hack currently in production (Pokemon Prism) if you want to see some of my other hacking works.
  12. Here's how the male sprites look like in game (Surfing animation not done). I'll be working on the sprite overworld conversion program this weekend. I'll probably have to hack Heart Gold/Soul Silver to use G/S/C styled overworld Pokemon sprites.
  13. I'm going to try to work on a program this weekend to convert the Gameboy overworld sprite formats to the format that GBA uses. So I won't have to replace all of the sprites one by one. (There's over 100 sprites with multiple frames which would take to damn long) Just copy/pasting hex that my program converts :) I did put in the Hiro sprite. I'll post some screenshots when I get home tonight. The alternative player colors work with the sprite as well.
  14. Because you start in Pallet Town, not New Bark Town. Then I decided it doesn't really matter, this is gold lol. I'm going with Hiro instead.
  15. Well... since this is G/S I might use Hiro instead. When I'm done with this, it shouldn't be too difficult to make a R/B/Y version.
  16. I guess I can do that. The male character will be Red though, not Hiro.
  17. I'm not worried about Gen III Pokemon yet. I'lI cross that bridge when I get there. First I'm going to do all of the outside areas, then work on the overworld sprites (Only question I have is what will I use for the female character sprite?), then the in battle Pokemon. After that I think a demo can be released. Glad you guys are excited about it.
  18. I've been adding the tiles myself. I have experience with ROM hacking, so I just ripped the tileset from Pokemon Gold, imported it into Fire Red, assigned the proper pallet colors then assigned the colorss to the correct tile and built the new 2x2 metatiles over the old ones. I do plan to incorporate overworld sprites, Pokemon graphics, and all sorts of stuff from Gold. Thanks for the help. That is definitely planned.
  19. I decided to do something for fun: Create a patch for Fire Red that would use the graphics from Gold/Silver. Gen II was always my favorite generation, so why not play a look alike online? Download link: http://www.mediafire...gajfdgdm9bghdv0 (Version 1.0 1/3/13) Progress: - Most of the maps are done. Some maps are extremely glitchy which will be fixed later. - Almost all of the mini sprites are in (Supplied by InnerMobius) To-do List: - Remaining Maps - Overworld NPCSprites - Pokemon battle sprites - Trainer battle sprites - Remaining Pokemon mini sprites - Town Map How to patch: - Get an IPS Patcher (I recommend Lunar IPS: http://fusoya.eludev...ility.org/lips/ ) - Use the program to patch the included IPS file to your Fire Red ROM. Make sure this rom is unaltered as in, it doesn't have any other patches on it. - If you are updating from a previous version, you cannot patch over an old version of 8-bit edition. Your Fire Red ROM must ALWAYS be unaltered when patching to it. Hope you enjoy! If you encounter any problems just let me know. Here's some screenshots (Note that these screenshots were taken before the character customization feature was in. I'll have to work around that). My goal is to make absolutely all the graphics possible 8-bit. I'll let you know when a patch is available, hope you guys are interested. Feel free to let me know what you think!
