However, what if, per se, I was to use third party software to modify the ROM used to play MMO and edit the sprite from there? 

First off - is that a legal thing to do?
Second - Would it still be compatible with the client?

Is it possible to edit game sprites that are not pokemon or trainers?

I'd love to replace the bike sprites with an Arcanine, Absol or whatever pokemon people would prefer, but I just can't figure out how to do that. Any ideas?
