is it rng getting mysterious balls after helping santa?

in a run i did with a group of 4, we managed to get 4 mysterious pokeballs and 2 great balls, we died after the 3rd boss. but when i checked my backpack i didn{t get them while one of my teammates who was still in the link did

is it luck to get them or is something wrong here?

did u die before ur teammates died?

however long u can stay alive as an individual = more rewards for u as an individual (so when u r going to die and u can't provide any more help, its better to hide somewhere and not fight at all so u can get maximum rewards )
