Controller works- but key question

On my controller settings, for my Bluetooth game pad, there’s some options on there I don’t understand. Like to set the buttons for “Next” and “Previous”, for example. 
 

Has anyone else set up the buttons on their game pad and seen what I meant? I can take a screenshot and post it if need be. I’m loving the controller use so far- I’m on android and have a little clip that my phone goes into attached to the controller, so needing to use the touchscreen isn’t a game breaker but knowing if those do anything would be helpful!
