Tbh with you, you dont need perfect ivs to achieve anything. Ofc they help but only really really important iv to always have 31 is speed. Others above 25 are fine.

for sure, I sold pm all my comps to be able to afford a shiny aron, and I've still been able to do well in OU with mons other people would consider trash, max 2x31, and no choice items or anything either, running black belt mienshao xD sometimes the element of surprise(and hazards) is all you need

Well ofc max rolls are cool although the one time I actually played with that mechanic to try to ease thr breeding price, I had then to spend another 8m to fix cause it screwed my IVs, you can get lucky and unlucky, its up to you if you risk it or breed normally.

Thinking about it the only time I think it would be useful would be when breeding a 29 with a 31... that way ur guaranteed a 30 or 31 so you wouldn't have to worry about using a brace... still don't really get why a 30 is the same as a 31 only in a non-invested stat... my understanding of it until now was that they were essentially the same because at lvl 50 a 30 or a 31 will still only add 15 pts to that stat...

I bred my fair share of shinies.

And no, what happens is, out of the 6 IVs you have, 2 of them are guaranteed to get max roll, the other 4 are guaranteed to mid roll at least, they will never low roll.

thats good to know, I was about to breed my first one and thought I could guarantee 3x30-31 on my first breed while still using an everstone, so when does the 2 stats being guaranteed a max roll come in handy? I'm not really trying to test my luck breeding a shiny... should I just go about it like breeding any other poke?

31 = 30 in a non invested stat. An absol adamant 31/31/30/x/30/31 will hold the same stats as a 5x31 one.

yes thats true, but the highest two IVs get passed down to the child automatically when breeding shinies, in regards to that mechanic a 31 would be passed down automatically rather than a 30.

    this is incorrect^

I mean people have also met two shinies in two back to back single encounters and caught both, 3 shinies in the same day, 2 in the same horde etc. So you're saying after you catch/run from a shiny, as in, encounter it, you're likely to find another one or aren't likely to find another one? Sounds pretty random to me.

No, no they didn't. I mean they did like 4 or 5 years ago (and even then they said it was a VERY temporary softban while they were investigated) but then they said they fixed that and that wasn't the case anymore, not even that long after.

And whether the devs lie about shiny chances or not (they're not, most people with lots of shinies average to around 30k), it's still fair. Cause SRIF.

Though I'd be down to test this out. Run away from every shiny I meet hell yeah

You're probably right, I was just saying it wasn't out of the realm of possibility, a completely random number generator is hard to accomplish, there is usually some sort of input/output, people thought that shinies were completely random in the actual games too but their rng system was figured out, either way from what I've seen/experienced it is around that 30k mark and relativel fair, imo an algorithm that included the how long its been since you've encountered or caught a shiny would be pretty fair too. I would've been willing to test it out while looking for shiny deino by running from any shiny durants, but i got my shiny deino yesterday pNu2E6B.pngjmnW3Ns.png?1

It was dynamic at one point^

  6. I mean its not like lucky eggs are cheap or easily obtainable ;)... You're right though this is a very specific scenario its not really a big issue, although I wouldn't say a move like head smash is nearly as valuable as a shiny rampardos...

yea but later they told us it was all fair

It may be fair, I don't know. "Fair" can also mean a lot of things. I just don't appreciate my question being made fun of, it is entirely possible that there is still a static shiny rate, and last caught shiny is one of the factors involved rather than last shiny encountered ... they did lie about the shiny rate being the same as the games for a long time... I was just wondering if anyone else had a similar experience of running from a shiny and encountering another one shortly after much like I and the previous poster had, thats what forums like this are for... could've just been a coincidence but still

yeah and if you run from 3 shinies in a row and breed a charmander it will be shiny

    bruh

Wow ur hilarious, no this was a serious question. The games rng is a mystery to all of us, just trying to figure it out. If you knew anything about rng you'd know its anything but random and based on an algorithm, running from a shiny may have something to do with it.

also, game developers have all but admitted to using an algorithm when they said that the shiny rate takes a variety of factors into consideration, including how much the game thinks you're botting.

  9. I was mostly thinking about it for getting egg moves on shinies, for example I got a shiny aggron and I would love to run head smash on it but would need to breed it with a shiny rampardos which imo would be a complete waste. It could be very expensive, I was thinking trading a lucky egg for an egg move might make lucky eggs more useful? That way it would still be a lot cheaper to get egg moves the old fashioned way through actually breeding, but for those of us who want shiny comps, it could be very useful. Thanks for hearing me out :)
