252+ SpA Fortree AFK vs. 252 HP / 96 SpD Slateport: 160-189 (41.6 - 49.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO loses thanks to the instant recovery of Slateport's Poke Centre, though +SpAtk Fortree is uncommon due to it needing +speed but this doesn't stop Fortree from being a relatively good AFK spot. Would be B+ on AFK Viability Rankings imo

Everyone knows that there are Towns that can deal with AFKing in Lavaridge. the argument isn't that AFKing in Lavaridge is broken or overpowered. The fact that there are a few things that don't have as much trouble with AFKing in Mauville doesn't mean that AFKing in Mauville isn't uncompetitive. Mauville, Petalburg, and Slateport can still destroy themselves due to confusion and people will still spam AFKing against them. This introduces ponds into the world which is not constructive to a healthy meta. I know Mauville is really fucking ugly but that doesn't mean it can't be used. 0 Atk Petalburg AFK vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mauville: 131-154 (48.3 - 56.8%) -- 90.6% chance to 2HKO. All towns take too much from AFK to be reliable counters to entire AFK worlds. Not AFKing doesn't work because of priority AFKing. AFK towns will use Prankster AFK to confuse the Non-AFKing asshole before they can stop being AFK, which results in more shit. The only exceptions are if the Non-AFKer user is staff, but opposing staff can also AFK, so it would be a speed tie between the AFK Staff and Non-AFK Staff, or if the non-afk user is a scumbag, but scumbags can AFK too, and in any case, you can't expect people be scumbags all the time. It's true that having things to do and motivation does well against AFKing, but there are two problems. The SwagPlay team then probably has another Pokemon that can Swagger you on the next turn. The second problem is that because Mauville blocks fun already, having a life is redundant and not optimal against any standard AFK town. Breeding, Hunting and things like fun do better against AFKing definitely, but ultimately the point is that AFK towns can still be ugly as fuck their opponents and are designed to not look so fucking ugly like mauville. I know there are things that can handle AFKing better and it's not broken, but the fact that AFKing inherently introduces tons of shit into the world is what makes it uncompetitive.
