5. nah its cool. we'll just do our best in nu. the decision was kinda rash but not bad seeing that so many people wanted nu. it would have been better if it had been posted early so we could prepare better for the nu tourney. but oh well

 7. Tyranitar Bow down, for your king has arrived to the 50's meta. The strongest and most powerful pokemon descends from 100's to wreck havoc. Capable of activating permanent Sandstorm, amazing move pool, and fearsome base stats, Tyranitar truly is the biggest threat in this meta. Builds
Dragon Dance God Item: Leftovers Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk, hit 101 Speed (hit 202 after 2 Dragon Dance), Rest in Hp Moveset: Dragon Dance Rock Slide Earthquake/Brick Break Taunt/Substitute * What better gift could Tyranitar ask for? Dragon Dance makes up for its lowest base stat, Speed, while also boosting its monstrous Attack even higher. Rock Slide is primary stab move. Earthquake and Brick Break round off coverage. Earthquake generally hits harder but Brick Break allows you to take on opposing Tyranitars better. Taunt stops walls like Weezing in its tracks and prevents Skarmory from roaring it out, but Substitute blocks status while also allowing for easier prediction. SubPunch Item: Leftovers Nature: Adamant/Brave Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp (have at least 25-26 Hp Iv to achieve 51 Hp Substitute in 50's), 252 Atk Moveset: Substitute Focus Punch Rock Slide Fireblast/Ice Beam/Crunch/Thunderbolt * Tired of moaning about walls? Tyranitar gives no fucks about your walls. Behind a Substitute, Tyranitar can hustle its way through walls by blasting powerful Focus Punches and Rock Slides. The last slot utilizes Tyranitars solid 95 base Satk to nail physically defensive walls. Flamethrower cooks steel types. Ice Beam hits the other pseudo-legendaries, Salamence and Dragonite, for heavy damage. Crunch is a strong stab move and Thunderbolt gives it an easier time against bulky waters. Pursuit Trap Item: Leftovers Nature: Quiet Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, 252 Satk Moveset: Pursuit Rock Slide Fireblast Superpower/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt * A more specially offensive take on Tyranitar. Quite a surprise for opposing teams preparing for physical sets. Pursuit traps dangerous foes like Gengar. Rock Slide even without Atk investment will provide solid damage. Fireblast goes through cuts through Skarmory. Superpower from Tyranitar's massive Atk will prove too much for Blissey or Snorlax to handle and stops Umbreon from taking this set. Ice Beam hits Salamence and Dragonite hard and also does slightly more to Claydol than Pursuit. Thunderbolt for pesky Slowbros and Vaporeons.
Counters: Tyranitar is the hardest pokemon to counter in this metagame. Hitmontop is probably one of the best checks to Tyranitar. It resists both Tyranitar's stab, can lower its Atk with Intimidate, and scares out Tyranitar with 4x Super effective stab fighting moves. Machamp and Marowak can come in on Rock Slides and scare Tyranitar out, but Marowak has to be weary of Ice Beam. Predicting when Tyranitar will Rock Slide or Earthquake, you can swap between Salamence and lower its Atk. Claydol can take on the Dragon Dance set and set up Dual Screens in case Tyranitar is packing special attacks. It also takes no damage from Sandstorm so unlike other checks which ruin their Leftovers recovery. Vaporeon can dispatch Tyranitar with Surf but still takes a lot of damage. Dugtrio can trap and revenge kill Tyranitar. Skarmory should run Steel Wing to take on the Dragon Dance set. Quagsire takes no damage from Sandstorm, resists Rock Slide, and can hit back with super effective stab Surf or Earthquake. It also has instant recovery. Dragonite Another pseudo-legendary descends from 100s to rule over 50s. Dragonite has what other pokemons dying for: a powerful SubPunch. With amazing overall base stats and a massive move pool, its no wonder Dragonite is becoming a common sight. Builds:
Choice Band Item: Choice Band Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: 88 Hp, 236 Atk, 184 Speed (Assuming 30 Hp and 30 Speed IV) 88 Hp evs guarantees Dnite lives 2 Body Slams from a 252+ Snorlax. 184 Speed evs outspeeds neutral Breloom. Rest in Atk. Moveset: HP Flying/Wing Attack if you broke Extremespeed Superpower Fireblast/Surf * Pretty easy to use. HP Flying everything until you gotta make predictions. Extremespeed lets it beat many of the faster pokemons i.e. 2hko standard Starmie, Jolteon, and Alakazam. Superpower Ohko's Snorlax/Blissey and hits the Steel/Rocks that resist HP Flying. Fireblast for Skarmory/Scizor/Forretress and Surf for Rhydon. SubPunch Item: Leftovers Nature: Brave/Quiet/Lonely/Mild Ivs and Evs: Using a -Speed nature leaves Dragonite at 90 or less Speed with no investments which could be extremely detrimental when against the common 100-110 Speed tier pokes (Ex. Kingdra, Marowak, etc). 252 Hp and Satk is the simplest Ev spread. If using Lonely/Mild run enough Speed Evs to hit a minimum of 108 to outspeed Marowak and neutral Exeggutor; more Speed can be invested to outspeed the pokemons also hoping to outspeed Marowak. 252 Atk and rest in Hp. Moveset: Substitute Focus Punch Thunderbolt Icebeam * Focus Punch off of 134 base Atk hurts a lot. BoltBeam lets Dragonite hit everything for unresisted coverage. Dragon Dance Item: Lum berry/Leftovers Nature: Adamant/Lonely/Jolly/Hasty Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk, when using Jolly/Hasty, hit 134 Speed to outspeed everything after 1 Dragon Dance. If Adamant/Lonely only 108 Speed is needed solely to hit lower speed pokes before Dragon Dance. 123 Speed can be hit to outspeed Starmie after 1 Dragon Dance. Any leftover Evs can be put in Hp. Moveset: Dragon Dance Wing Attack Brick Break Fireblast/Thunderbolt * Weaken your opponents bulky water pokemons before attempting to sweep. Wing Attack and Brick Break provide perfect coverage for optimal sweeping. Fireblast does the same damage as stab Dragon Claw (don't use) but gives you the power to tear down Skarmory and steel friends. Thunderbolt can weaken water types while also hitting Skarmory but doesn't provide enough damage on Weezing. Others: With Dragonites huge move pool, many different sets can be used.
Counters: Claydol, Dusclops, Quagsire, and Vaporeon are the best at taking on the Sub set. Weezing can stand up to Physical Dragonite but is 3hko by non invested Fireblast. Dragonite is difficult to directly counter so just predict and don't be a scrub.
 8. Slowking The specially defensive variant of his brother. Generally inferior to his physically bulkier brother but still pretty awesome to use. If only it had physical stab then its Curse set would become dangerously powerful. Builds:
Defensive Ability: Own Tempo Item: Chesto berry/Leftovers Nature: Bold/Calm Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp. Make sure to have at least 30 Hp Iv to hit 201 Hp. The rest can be split between Def and Sdef Moveset: Surf Ice Beam/Psychic Rest Calm Mind/Thunder Wave * A Calm Mind set is generally inferior to Slowbro as Slowbro has more physical bulk to complement Calm Mind. Thunder Wave is great for paralyzing opponents and ruining sweepers. Rest is the only recovery Slowking has. CurseKing Ability: Own Tempo Item: Chesto berry/Leftovers Nature: Careful Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Sdef. Make sure to have at least 30 Hp Iv to hit 201 Hp. Moveset: Curse Rest Brick Break Shadow Ball * Curse up and Rest once your Hp is low. Brick Break and Shadow Ball provide perfect coverage.
Counters: Blissey, Lanturn, Quagsire, Exeggutor, Jolteon, Ludicolo, Scizor, Starmie, and Snorlax for the first set. Weezing, Snorlax, Skarmory, Scizor, Exeggutor, Gyarados, Jolteon, Ludicolo, Marowak, Starmie, and Venusaur for the second set. Smeargle The jack of all trades Builds
Ability: Own Tempo Item: Salac Berry Nature: Jolly Ivs and Evs: 96 Hp 120 Def. 40 SpD 252 Spe Make sure to have 31 iv everything Moveset: Belly drum Spore Substitute Baton Pass * The ultimate instant Baton Pass setup. Its execution is simple: send out Smeargle against a slow threat and use Substitute. If your opponent brings in a Pokemon that doesn't have phazing, hazing, or multi-hit moves, use Belly Drum; otherwise, use Spore. Set up and pass a Belly Drum boost as soon as possible, then proceed to sweep. Others: A lot
Counters: Simply don't let it set up by using haze or roar. (Credits to JSTUD) Snorlax The godliest thing available. The most used pokemon in 50's, hands down, and absolutely destructive, walling most any special attacker and being one of the reasons threats such as Gengar consider Focus Punch. With high HP, Attack and Sp.Def, it's one of the best solutions to special attackers, sporting no special weaknesses, and unlike Blissey, it's not total bait for physical attackers. It's claim to fame, Curse, and it's already high attack stat make it threatening and hard to take out for almost anything that could hope to switch in. If you're playing OU and not using this thing, you're doing it wrong. Builds:
CurseLax Item: Leftovers/Chesto Berry Ability: Both Immunity and Thick Fat are viable, but Thick Fat is preferred Nature: Adamant/Brave/Impish/Sassy/Careful/Relaxed IV's and EV's: 252 HP/252 Sp.Def/4 Def, high Sp.Def/Def/Attack/HP IV's are preferable, Sp.Att might be relevant depending on your moveset, Speed is irrelevant. Moveset: Body Slam/Return Curse Rest Shadow Ball/Fire Blast/Psychic * Snorlax can be brought in on most special attackers and then proceed to setup after forcing them out. Body Slam is generally better than Return despite the slightly lower base power due to the 30% paralysis chance, potentially crippling any switch ins exchange for a largely negligible power decrease. Curse boosts Snorlax's Attack/Defense while lowering it's speed, which was already borderline unusable to begin with. Rest is for healing, getting rid of status while completely replenishing HP. The last move is much more variable, each one serving a different purpose. Shadow Ball hits any ghost type hard, which would otherwise completely wall Snorlax. Fire Blast destroys Skarmory and Forretress, which could otherwise hard wall Snorlax, but isn't very useful against many ghost types. However, it can break a Gengar's substitute using Fire Blast. Psychic does nothing to Skarmory/Forretress, but can hurt Weezings trying to Haze or Will-O-Wisp you, while also providing a way to hit Gengar. Other Options: Earthquake can hit Aggron, but not much else. Steelix is hit harder by Fire Blast, and other threats Earthquake would hit are unobtainable in 50's. (Jirachi, Metagross, Tyranitar) A monoattacking CurseTalk set is possible, but requires far too much support due to how many pokemon can wall it. Non-Curse sets are possible, but generally not as effective. Belly Drum is possible, but Snorlax is far too slow to consistently abuse it.
Counters: Depends on the set. Skarmory, Forretress and Steelix can consistently come in and phaze/wall Snorlax if it doesn't carry Fire Blast. Weezing can come in on Snorlax and threaten it out with either Haze or Will-O-Wisp, but doesn't appreciate taking Psychics. Bulky ghosts such as Dusclops can come in with Will-O-Wisp and threaten Snorlax out, but don't like eating Shadow Balls. Aggron can switch into sets lacking Earthquake. Fighting types such as Machamp can come in on Curse and force Snorlax out with powerful fighting moves, but since they don't resist Body Slam, can't do it indefinitely. (Credits to Senile) Starmie Need to get rid of Spikes? Need to launch some powerful special attacks? Need to provide support for your team? The shooting star is here to grant all your wishes. Its illustrious speed allows it to outpace a lot of the meta game and hit many with a wide coverage. Builds:
Shooting Star Ability: Natural Cure Item: Leftovers Nature: Timid Ivs and Evs: 252 Satk, 252 Speed. 31* Speed Iv Moveset: Surf Ice Beam Thunderbolt Recover/Rapid Spin/Psychic *Simple and easy to use. Pick the right attacks and start picking off opponents. Surf is a strong stab option that lets you hit hard in unison with boltbeam coverage. Recover allows Starmie to stay in combat longer. Rapid Spin is very useful as Starmie can beat every Spikes user and spin away the hazards. Psychic gives Starmie a second strong stab move which gives it more versatility. Support Star Ability: Natural Cure Item: Leftovers Nature: Timid Ivs and Evs: Only needs to hit 179 Speed but can still invest in max Speed. 252 evs in Hp, rest in Satk. If using thunderbolt, have 31 speed IV and 252 speed to have a chance of beating other Starmies. Moveset: Surf Ice Beam/Thunderbolt Recover Rapid Spin *A more supportive Starmie to back your team up. Surf is basic stab for damage, and the choice between Ice Beam or Thunderbolt is based on what your team needs. Recover along with Rapid Spin can really help the team as this lets Starmie continuously come in on Spikes and Spin away the entry hazards. Others: Light Screen and Reflect are also great support moves on the second set.
Counters: Blissey, Umbreon, Lanturn, Snorlax, Scizor (bulky), and Venusaur (to some extent). Tauros The meanest bull around. A face so scary and mean it lowers other pokemon’s Atk. Great Speed and Atk but it’s not all sunshines for this pokemon. A terribly shallow moveset really hinders Tauros’s sweeping capabilities. Builds:
Pairing this with Magneton really helps eliminate the steel types Tauros struggles against. MeanBull Item: Choice Band/Lum berry Nature: Adamant/Jolly Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and Speed. 31 Speed Iv isn’t absolutely necessary since Tauros struggles with hitting Gengar Moveset: Double Edge/Return Earthquake HP Ghost/Rock Iron Tail/Rock Tomb/Rest/Fireblast *Pretty much the only moveset on Tauros. Double Edge hits everything that doesn’t resist it like a truck. Return is an alternative if you don’t like recoil. Earthquake helps with the rock and steel types that resist normal type. HP Ghost or Rock helps with hitting Gengar and other ghost friends. The last slot is just filler. Iron Tail if you can get a good HP. Rock Tomb is an alternative to HP Rock and can slow down Gengars. Rest can be used with Lum berry kinda iffy. Fireblast lets it somewhat hurt common switch ins like Skarmory and Forretress. Others: Not much.
Counters: Skarmory, Forretress, and Scizor. These 3 can take pretty much whatever Tauros can throw at it and set up. Gengar can take ones without HP Ghost (Gengar takes heavy damage from Iron Tail though). Aerodactyl can come in on predicted Earthquakes but also falls to Iron Tail. Umbreon The Dark Night that protects over your team. The hero that pokemmo deserves and the one it needs. Umbreon makes for an amazing tank and walls special attack but can't do much damage without status. Builds:
Tank Item: Leftovers Nature: Calm Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and 252 Sdef. Can be split with Def Moveset: Wish Pursuit Protect Toxic * Wish passing Umbreon. Pursuit lets you do nice damage to special attackers like Starmie and Alakazam. Protect works well with Wish and Toxic. Mean Look Trap Item: Leftovers Nature: Calm Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and enough speed to hit 108+ (Full speed investment is fine as the leftover Evs don't make much of a difference except in Speed) Moveset: Mean Look Baton Pass Wish Pursuit/Taunt * Pretty easy Mean Look trap. The Speed investment is crucial for passing off before taking a hit. This Umbreon won't have as much opportunity for healing so its best to go faster than slower. Pursuit lets it kill Psychic and Ghost types that'll switch out before you can Mean Look but Taunt stops Roar/Whirlwind from ruining your day. Others: Curse and Baton Pass can be used to pass some nice boosts to slow but strong pokemons. Charm can weaken physical attackers.
Counters: Heracross, Breloom, Machamp, Marowak, Scizor, Skarmory, and Ursaring. Umbreon isn’t a strong physical presence so just don’t let it trap your special attackers and avoid Toxic. Urasring The normal version of Machamp. This angry teddy bear boasts an amazing Atk stat and stab off of the powerful Double Edge. Ursaring has the potential to smash through walls with Swords Dance and absorb status moves to boost Guts. Overall a good pokemon with crappy speed. Builds:
Bulky Attacker Item: Leftovers Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Atk Moveset: Double Edge/Return Super Power/Focus Punch/Cross Chop Rock Slide Earthquake/HP Ghost *Bring Ursaring into a status move to activate Guts. Stab Double Edge does crazy damage but Return is fine option for pussies who fear recoil. Super Power is a strong immediate fighting move with perfect accuracy but has terrible drawbacks in lowered attack and defense; although lowering its defense isn’t too bad since Ursaring is slow and will switch out next turn (be careful when using on the likes of Snorlax). Focus Punch has 150 power but requires prediction. Cross Chop has an increased critical rate but low pp and subpar accuracy. Rock Slide hits Gengar. Earthquake is a decent filler move if you can’t get HP Ghost. PseudoSnorlax Item: Leftovers Nature: Careful Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Sdef Moveset: Bulk Up Rest Snore/Return Rock Slide/Sleep Talk *Start Bulking Up and Rest when your Hp gets low. Sleep activates Guts and gives you a boosted damage output. Pair Snore with Rock Slide and Return with Sleep Talk. If you do choose the latter option make sure you have removed the opponents ghost types. SoldierBear Item: Leftovers Nature: Adamant/Jolly Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Atk. Can be made into a faster sweeper. Aim to hit 81 or more speed to outspeed uninvested Weezings Moveset: Swords Dance Double Edge/Return Focus Punch Rock Slide *This set can smash through walls by setting up a Swords Dance. With +2 Atk under its belt, Ursaring can punch holes in Weezing with stab Double Edge/Return. Focus Punch can hit Skarm for over half health before it Roars you out. Rock Slide rounds off the coverage. Others: Belly Drum lets it swiftly KO everything but it needs to be paired with Salac berry to be able to sweep; at +1 Speed it hits 176 Speed with Jolly and 31 Speed Iv. This outspeeds all +nature 100 Speed tier pokes.
Counters: Skarmory, Forretress, and Scizor. Ursaring is difficult to counter so revenge killing it or predicting is key to taking it down. Vaporeon Vaporeon is probably the best team player of all the Water-types, thanks to Wish and Baton Pass. Its stats are high all-round, and has Haze and Water Absorb. So durable it’ll have you saying “amazing” while leaving opponents calling you a wall uguu. Builds:
Tank Item: Leftovers Nature: Bold Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, enough Sdef to survive 2 Starmie Thunderbolts, rest in Def Moveset: Wish Surf/Ice Beam Haze/Protect/Heal Bell Toxic/Protect/Heal Bell *Wish is really nice recovery on Vaporeon and can be used to heal up the rest of your team also. The choice between Surf and Ice Beam depends on what you want to hit. Surf is stronger due to stab but Ice Beam lets Vap nab the Ohko on Salamence. Haze is great for stopping set up sweepers in their tracks and Toxic lets Vaporeon stall out opponents. Protect is helpful with Wish and Toxic. Protect does a makeshift Recovery when combined with Wish and also allows for Toxic to build up. Yes let us make Vaporeon more OP by adding Heal Bell. Baton Pass Item: Leftovers Nature: Bold/Relaxed Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, enough Sdef to survive 2 Starmie Thunderbolts, rest in Def. If you want the pokemon receiving Wish to not take damage, then use Relaxed nature and 0 speed Ivs to let Vaporeon Baton Pass last. Moveset: Wish Baton Pass Substitute/Acid Armor Ice Beam/Surf/Toxic *Vaporeon can Baton Pass the bulkiest Substitutes in the game. Make sure to keep Wishing to keep Vaporeon’s health high so it can come back in later. Acid Armor is not only great to pass but boost’s Vaporeon’s durability much higher. The last slot is personal preference. Others: Roar can be used over Haze to remove boosts and rack up Spikes damage or scout the opponents team. Charm can disarm physical attackers. Curse can be used over Acid Armor.
Counters: Gyarados, Quagsire, Tentacruel (Swords Dance), Blissey (Thunderbolt, Toxic, Thunder Wave?), Lanturn, Jolteon, Magneton, Ludicolo, Slowbro, Slowking, Snorlax, Starmie, Umbreon (Toxic), and Venusaur. Toxic really wears down Vaporeon. Jolteon and Magneton can easily beat it out with Thunderbolt but be careful of taking Surfs as Vaporeon has high Satk. Venusaur The second starter to become a favorite of competitive players in PokeMMO. Respectable bulk with useful moves in Leech Seed and Sleep Powder, Venusaur can become a nuisance to the opponent. Builds:
Tank Item: Leftovers Nature: Careful/Calm Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, enough Speed to hit 108, rest in Sdef Moveset: Leech Seed Sleep Powder Giga Drain/Sludge Bomb Synthesis/Charm/Protect * Leech Seed whatever comes in and put your counters to sleep. Giga Drain is great recovery and beats Starmie, and Marowak; Psychic from the former and Earthquake from the latter will put you in Growth range and boosts you Giga Drain. Sludge Bomb is better for special defensively dedicated walls. Synthesis is instant recovery while Protect lets you scout and rack up Leech Seed. Charm weakens pokemons that target its defense and a great option with Sludge Bomb and Leech Seed to take on Snorlax. Others: Swords Dance and Curse can make Venusaur a physical attacker, run Earthquake and Sludge Bomb and pair it up with Magneton to remove Skarmory. HP Ice lets it surprise the common Salamence switch in, and HP Fire hurts grass and steel types.
Counters: Arcanine, Charizard, Crobat, Dusclops (Pressure stalls out Giga Drain while also resisting Sludge Bomb), Forretress, Gyarados, Houndoom (watch out for Sludge Bomb), Salamence, Scizor, Skarmory, and Weezing. Be wary of Sleep Powder when bringing in a pokemon to take on Venusaur. HP Fire will make short work of steel types coming in especially Scizor and Forretress. Weezing With resistances to both Bug- and Fighting-type attacks, as well as an immense Defense stat, Weezing is an ideal physical counter. It can ruin boosting physical attackers with Will-O-Wisp and Haze, so it is a great switch-in to Snorlax too. Builds:
Gas Wall Item: Leftovers Nature: Impish/Bold Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Def Moveset: Sludge Bomb/Flamethrower Haze Wil-O-Wisp Pain Split * Weezing is the best Fighting-type counter and Haze user in the game. This is a simple set: burn physical threats with Will-O-Wisp, Haze if they set up, and wear them down with Sludge Bomb or Flamethrower. Pain Split is nice on pokemons with huge Hp stats. Offensive Item: Leftovers Nature: Brave/Relaxed Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, 178 Atk, 80 Def Moveset: Sludge Bomb Flamethrower Thunderbolt/Shadow Ball/Wil-O-Wisp Explosion * A more offensive take on Weezing, this set is surprisingly effective and can put a dent in stall-based teams. Thunderbolt can hit bulky water types while Shadow Ball 2hko’s Gengar. Wil-O-Wisp burns things that take little damage from Weezing. Explosion is a good last resort.
Counters: Vaporeon, Claydol, Gengar, Slowbro, Slowking, and Ursaring. Weezing isn’t hard to counter but hard to kill. Make sure to bring your status absorber into W-o-W if you predict it. Target its lower Sdef stat to finish it off easier.
 9. Kingdra God of the sea. In the rain this monster shows no mercy, capable of outspeeding the entire metagame and launching rain boosted stab Surf. Builds:
Rain Sweep Item: Lum berry/Chesto berry Nature: Modest Ivs and Evs: 252 Satk evs, hit at least 108 speed (outspeeds Marowak and Exeggutor), rest of evs in Hp Moveset: Rain Dance Surf/Hydro Pump Ice Beam Rest/HP Grass/Electric/Outrage *In the rain this set becomes a monster. Surf in the rain does more than super effective ice beam so that should be your main attack to spam. Ice beam lets Kingdra hit grass types and Salamence for nasty damage. Rest should be used if you lack HP Grass or Electric. HP Electric and Grass lets Kingdra hit water types that would otherwise wall it. Outrage is meh. Dragon Dance Item: Lum berry/Chesto Nature: Lonely/Naughty Ivs and Evs: Hit 123 Speed to outspeed Starmie after 1 ddance. 252 Atk evs. Rest in Hp Moveset: Dragon Dance Return Surf/Hydro Pump Rest *Mainly a gimmicky set for fun. Dragon Dance up to your heart’s content and attack with Return. Surf gives you perfect coverage with Return. Rest gives you a second life to sweep.
Counters: Politoed, Poliwrath, Lapras, Vaporeon, Walrein, Blissey, Snorlax, Umbreon, Gyarados, Ludicolo, Slowbro, and Slowking. Water Absorb pokemons will ruin Kingdra’s day Lapras Lapras, the neglected weaker brother of Vaporeon. Had it been just water type and not that annoying ice crap then it would have been an amazing pokemon. Still usable though. Builds:
RestTalk Ability: Water Absorb Item: Leftovers Nature: Bold Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Def. Some Evs can be taken off Def to put on Satk or Sdef. Moveset: Ice Beam Thunderbolt/Surf Rest Sleep Talk *The idea of this set is to function as a general tank and status absorber. Rest and Sleep Talk enable Lapras to stay alive for long periods of time, recover its health back, and not be dead weight when asleep. Ice Beam is nice stab and coupled with Thunderbolt is nearly unresisted (Magneton and Lanturn). Ddance Lapras LoL Ability: Water Absorb Item: Leftovers/Lum berry Nature: Adamant/Jolly Ivs and Evs: If its Jolly and has 31 speed Iv then max Atk and Speed so it outspeeds Starmie after 1 ddance. If Adamant or not 31 Speed hit 90 Speed to hit 202 Speed after 2 ddances. 252 Atk and rest in Hp Moveset: Dragon Dance Return/Body Slam Surf/Ice Beam HP Ground/Fighting/Substitute *Mainly a fun set. Dragon Dance up and sweep lol. Body Slam has paralysis rate while Return does more damage. Surf with a normal type attack is unresisted. Ice Beam with HP Ground is unresisted. HP Fighting can hurt Blisseys and Snorlax that try to switch in. Substitute can block out statuses that prevent Lapras from sweeping lol. Special Attacker Ability: Water Absorb Item: Leftovers Nature: Bold/Modest Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp the rest can be split between Def and Satk or full Satk Moveset: Surf Ice Beam Thunderbolt Psychic/Toxic/Confuse Ray *Pretty simple set. Lapras as a bulky special attacker can dish out some nice damage. Psychic can hit fighting types pretty hard. Toxic lets it wear down opponents. And if you’re a lucky guy, use Confuse Ray to hax the opponent to death. Others: It can stop pokemons from setting up with Roar. Perish Song can also stop some sweeps. Curse can be used with Ancient Power kinda iffy. It can help set up rain for its fellow rain sweepers. Sing isn’t reliable due to only 55% accuaracy.
Counters: Blissey, Snorlax, and Lanturn. Lapras falls to strong fighting and rock types. Both Heracross and Machamp can take a hit from Lapras and swiftly retaliate. Magneton can come in on BoltBeam and rough up Lapras. Ludicolo Mexican duck that swims pretty swiftly in the rain. Guess it got it’s ability from trying to swim to the border. A strong special sweeper that can also function as a defensive tank. Builds
Ability: Swift Swim Nature: Modest Item: Lum berry Ivs and Evs: 252 Satk, hit at least 108 Speed, and Rest on Hp Moveset: Rain Dance Surf Ice Beam Giga Drain/Leech Seed * Rain Dance lets Ludicolo outspeed everything. Surf with stab and in the rain hits hard even on pokemon who resists water attacks. Ice Beam lets Ludicolo take down Salamence while Leech Seed is for the obvious special wall, namely Snorlax or Blissey. Giga Drain rounds off the coverage making sure you’re not walled by bulky water types and is preferred over Leech Seed if you’re not too focused on special sponges. Tank Ability: Rain Dish Nature: Calm Item: Leftovers Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Sdef Moveset: Leech Seed Synthesis/Protect/Substitute Surf/Giga Drain/Seismic Toss Toxic * With no special weaknesses, Ludicolo can make for a great Sdef tank. Leech Seed drains massive Hp from the likes of Blissey and Snorlax and is just a general nuisance. Synthesis offers immediate recovery while Protect lets you stall every other turn letting Leech Seed and Toxic rack up. Substitute can block out status and works well in tandem with Leech Seed. The third slot gives you an attacking option. Surf does more damage than Giga Drain but the latter gives you even more recovery build ups (for long stalls, Surf or Seismic Toss is preferred as to not run out of PP). Seismic Toss hits everything for a respectable 50 damage except ghost types. Toxic makes Ludicolo stall even more dangerous. Others: Ludicolo has the option of Swords Dance and Brick Break to surprise Blissey and Snorlax. It also has access to stab SunnyBeam but it loses its amazing speed without the rain.
Counters: Blissey, Snorlax, Tentacruel, Venusaur, Muk, and Gyarados. If the Ludicolo sets up rain, then stall out the rain with predictions and counter attack its lower defense. Machamp The definition of power. Machamp can land powerful Cross Chops and Focus Punches with 130 base Atk. Not only does it have insane Atk stat but its defenses are also quite nice. Its slow but strong and bulky. Builds:
Full on Attacker Item: Leftovers/Choice Band Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Atk. You can add enough speed Evs to outspeed Blissey for drastic situations. Moveset: Cross Chop Rock Slide Facade/Focus Punch/Bulk Up/Earthquake HP Ghost * Cross Chop is your best friend on the offense. Rock Slide provides great coverage and can give flying types who resist fighting a rough time. HP Ghost provides perfect coverage with Cross Chop and can get rid of pesky Gengars and Dusclops. Facade allows Machamp to tear up Weezings when statused. Focus Punch is much stronger than Cross Chop and a great option on Skarmory. Earthquake provides a stronger attack for electric types but thats about it (Not Recommended). RestTalk Item: Leftovers Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, 96 Atk, 160 Def Moveset: Cross Chop Rock Slide/HP Ghost Rest Sleep Talk * RestTalk activates Guts and gives Machamp better longevity. Cross Chop works well with Sleep Talk since it gains a few more PP’s. Rock Slide or HP Ghost is there for coverage so Machamp isn’t walled as easy. Others: Knock Off can be used to remove Leftovers from the opponent’s physical wall. Encore can screw set up pokemons. Counter on a defensive set can break Weezings that Sludge Bomb you. SubPunch eases prediction.
Counters: Slowbro, Weezing (Don’t status it), Slowking, and Exeggutor. Machamp is difficult to counter so rely on predictions. Marowak Demons run when Marowak goes to war. THE absolute hardest hitter in the current meta game with a jaw dropping attack stat when equipped with Thick Club. If you hate walls than Marowak is your best friend. Builds:
JollyWak Ability: Rock Head Item: Thick Club Nature: Jolly Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and Speed Moveset: Earthquake/Bonemerang Rock Slide Swords Dance/Substitute Focus Punch/Double Edge *For all the weak that complain about SkarmBliss, WeezBliss, etc, this Marowak is for you. One of the greatest wallbreakers ever created. Bonemerang allows you to break Subs but may be costly if you miss with the 90% accuracy. Rock Slide with Earthquake/Bonemerang provides excellent coverage. For the last two slots, Swords Dance+Focus Punch lets Marowak kill Skarmory: Swords Dance when the Skarmory switches in and Focus Punch on the Roar for the kill. Substitute+Double Edge lets Marowak destroy Weezing. BulkyWak Ability: Rock Head Item: Thick Club Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Atk Moveset: Earthquake/Bonemerang Rock Slide Focus Punch Double Edge *Basically choose the right move and let the damage roll. I prefer the jolly set over this as many walls will outspeed this set.
Counters: Countering Marowak is difficult, so pull off some predictions to beat it. Predict its moves and switch accordingly. Weezing can beat non-Sub sets. Target Marowak’s low Speed and Sdef and hit it with a super effective Satk. Rhydon Insert creative sentence about it Builds:
SubAttack Ability: Rock Head Item: Leftovers Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: hit 204 Hp stat, 91 Speed stat (outspeeds common walls; 70 base speed and lower), rest in Atk Moveset: Substitute Earthquake Rock Slide/Rock Blast Swords Dance, Double Edge * Bring it in on the likes of Snorlax or any physical hitter he can resist. Set up Substitute to block status (especially useful for taking down Weezing). +2 Atk after Swords Dance allows you to 2hko Skarmory and Weezing. This set is especially useful for breaking down walls. Double Edge can go over Swords Dance if you fear Claydol more but it reallys lacks firepower due to little investment in Atk Evs. Bulky Attacker Ability: Rock Head Item: Leftovers Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk, 252 Hp, 4 Speed Moveset: Earthquake Rock Slide/Rock Blast Double Edge/Superpower Megahorn/Superpower * Basic 4 move attacking pokemon. QuakeSlide with either Megahorn or Double Edge provides perfect coverage. Double Edge is easier to spam with perfect accuracy but Megahorn allows you to nab the Ohko on Starmie and the 2hko on Claydol. Superpower lets you Ohko 252/0 Neutral Snorlax after Spikes damage and gurantees the Ohko on Tyranitar unlike Earthquake which does 82.2%-97%.
Counters: Difficult to counter since Rhydon's set are designed to break down physical walls. Claydol can beat it with Ice Beam if it lacks Megahorn. Rhydon is fairly slow and special defensively weak, so with prior damage, any strong stab special attack will ko it. Salamence A premier wallbreaker. A veteran at set ups. A dragon that strikes fear into the hearts of his opponents. One of the absolute best sweepers with a great ability. Builds:
Salamence can use a wide variety of moves so surprise factor can be a great weapon. Item: Choice Band Nature: Adamant(preferred)/Jolly Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and Speed (Assuming even/even/even/even/even/odd Iv combination) Moveset: HP Flying/Aerial Ace Rock Slide Earthquake Brick Break/Fire Blast MixMence Item: Lum berry/Leftovers Nature: Rash/Mild (Needed to Ohko other Salamence with Dragon Claw) Ivs and Evs: 252 Satk and Speed Moveset: Dragon Claw Flamethrower/Fireblast Brick Break Crunch/Hydro Pump/Earthquake/Rock Slide/Aerial Ace *The better Salamence set. Noobs can go use the DDance set and get walled to death. This set can destroy entire teams with right prediction. Dragon Claw is a strong stab and easily spammed; only resisted by steel types. Flamethrower/Fireblast provides perfect coverage alongside Dragon Claw. Brick Break is for the omnipresent Blissey/Snorlax; will 3hko both. The last moveset is a toss up depending on what your team needs. Crunch can kill Gengars, Starmies, and Dusclops. Hydro Pump hits bulky rock/ground types for massive damage. DanceMence Item: Lum berry/Leftovers Nature: Adamant/Naughty/Lonely Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and 252 Speed. Speed can be dropped to 134 since after one ddance it hits 201 speed. Invest the rest in Hp. Moveset: Dragon Dance Rock Slide Brick Break/Earthquake Aerial Ace/Fireblast/Double Edge *Weaken bulky physical walls like Weezing and Vaporeon before trying to sweep with this. One ddance will let you outspeed the entire meta besides Electrode. Rock Slide+One of the other moves provide amazing coverage allowing you to hit everything hard. Fireblast is for pesky Skarms which otherwise wall this set. Double Edge is a strong option but has heavy recoil. Others: Salamence can be made into a bulky defensive pokemon with Roar.
Counters: Vaporeon is the best counter to either sets. Weezing, Skarmory, Slowbro, and Slowking can all take on the ddance set. Scizor One of the greatest set up kings. Amazing defensive typing leaves Scizor with only 1 weakness and a handful of resistances. Not only is this pokemon badass looking but it also sports amazing Atk. Builds:
Try pairing Scizor up with Magneton to eliminate its counters Bloo’s Favorite Item: Leftovers Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk, hit 110-117 speed, rest in Hp Moveset: Swords Dance Substitute Steel Wing/HP Rock Silver Wind/HP Bug/Brick Break *Scizor behind a Sub is a scary sight to behold. This set destroys WeezBliss combo that lacks Flamethrower. Sub on the first turn and Swords Dance up. BulkyScizor Items: Leftovers Nature: Impish/Careful Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, 42 Atk/Def, 216 Sdef. Adding a few speed Evs if your speed Iv is lacking to outspend Weezing (hit 81) can be helpful. Moveset: Swords Dance/Iron Defense Silver Wind/Iron Defense Substitute Baton Pass *Scizor can Baton Pass some nice boosts off. Bulky Scizor can also be made more offensively by replacing Baton Pass with another attack. Choice Band Items: Choice Band Nature: Adamant/Jolly Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk, 252 Speed Moveset: Superpower/Brick Break HP Rock/HP Ghost/Return/Double Edge Steel Wing Silver wind/HP Bug *Scizor now returns with a powerful long-desired fighting move in Superpower. Pesky steel types can no longer render scizor useless. Brick Break can be used over it if the Atk and Def drop is something you worry about but Superpower is mostly superior due to hit and run strategy. With choice band move lock, you won't stay in long anyways. HP Rock hits common switch ins like Arcanine, Salamence, and Dragonite. HP Ghost can surprise Dusclops or Gengar predicting your fighting moves. Return/Double edge are simply filler moves to hit the likes of Salamence and Dragonite. Steel Wing gets stab and can be used in conjunction with fighting/normal moves to hit ghost types. Last slot is for bug stab to hit the ever present Starmie and gets a nice boost when you're in swarm range.
Counters: Arcanine, Skarmory, Steelix, Salamence, and Magneton. Most steel types can wall Scizor. Any fire attack will do serious damage. Skarmory The metal chicken that people complain too much about. Making every scrub salty af, this metal bird is the second half of the dreaded SkarmBliss duo. Skarmory might be the greatest physical wall with no physical weaknesses and multiple resistances. The flying fortress will be a great addition to any team. Resists every physical attack besides rock and fighting Builds:
Spikes Ability: Keen Eye (doesn’t matter too much) Item: Leftovers/Chesto berry Nature: Impish/Careful Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, rest can be put into either Def or Sdef Moveset: Spikes Whirlwind Drill Peck/Toxic Rest/Protect *The standard Skarm set. Spikes can rack up serious damage in conjunction with Whirlwind. Use Drill Peck if your team already has status moves. Toxic can wear down many pokemons which Skarm can’t hurt with Drill Peck. Rest gives Skarm decent recovery options; run this with chesto. Leftovers recovery can really stack when using protect. Protect also allows Skarm to scout for surprise moves from opponents i.e. surprise Fireblast. Others: Skarmory doesn’t have much options outside of the set above. Counter can destroy any physical attackers brave enough to stay in. Taunt can stop opposing pokemons from setting up Spikes.
Counters: MAGNETON the bane of Skarmory’s existence. Skarmory will take heavy damage from stab special attacks. The main problem with Skarm is not that it hits hard but Spikes damage and trapping the bird. Rapid Spinners like Forretress takes nothing from Drill Peck and Toxic and can spin away Spikes. Slaking The almost God-Tier pokemon. Take a look at those base stats and be impressed...till you see its ability. With such amazing stats and movepool the only thing stopping this monster is the absolutely terrible ability Truant, forcing it to stay idle every other turn. Builds:
Hit and Run Ability: Anything not Truant Item: Choice Band Nature: Adamant/Jolly Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and 252 Hp or Speed. Moveset: Double Edge/Return Earthquake Shadow Ball Focus Punch/Fireblast *The classic choice between Return and Double Edge. Less power or recoil. Earthquake hits rock and steel types which can shrug off normal attacks. Shadow Ball hits ghost types immune to normal attacks. And Focus Punch can pack a punch (lol im so punny) if you’re prediction is spot on (Ex. Slaking vs Gengar. Opponents tries to predict you and goes to a normal type and you Focus Punch instead lol gg scrub). Slaking can be either a bulky attacker due to its insane Hp stat and nice Def or a fast sweeper with a 100 base speed. Others: Hyper Beam can be used as Slaking has to stay idle the turn after anyways; the only drawback is you can’t switch out. Slaking actually has a pretty nice 95 base Satk so it can use Fireblast to cook steel birds and bugs.
Counters: Skarmory, Forretress, and Scizor. Prediction lets you beat Slaking easy since it has to rest every other turn. PROTECT completely screws up Slaking. Substitute can also be used to only lose 25% of health every turn instead of taking a hit. Slowbro Once the king of 3v3 meta, Slowbro’s defensive and offensive capabilities are well known and hard to stop once it gets going. It has high natural bulk and great set up capabilities. Builds:
Ability: Own Tempo Item: Chesto berry/Leftovers Nature: Bold Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Def. Make sure to have at least 30 Hp Iv to hit 201 Hp. Moveset: Surf Psychic/Ice Beam Rest Calm Mind * This set relies on Slowbro's natural physical bulk to sponge physical attacks as it boosts its Special Defense with Calm Mind. Surf and Psychic provides solid STAB while Ice Beam hits Salamence. Others: Thunder Wave can slow things down. Flamethrower can hit grass and steel types. Counter can make short work of physical attackers with enough balls to stay in.
Counters: Lanturn, Blissey, Exeggutor, Jolteon, Ludicolo, Scizor, Starmie, and Snorlax. DO NOT let it accumulate too many Calm Minds.
 10. Dusclops A premier spinblocker boasting amazing 130 defenses makes, Dusclops makes for a great tank. Despite it’s low Hp, great defenses and access to Pain Split lets Dusclops wear down the opposing team while replenishing its health off of bulky pokemons. Builds:
Tank Item: Leftovers Nature: Careful Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp,210 Sdef, and 44 Speed Moveset: Wil-O-Wisp Pain Split Shadow Ball Seismic Toss/Focus Punch * Dusclop’s low Hp and high defenses makes Pain Split the optimal and preferred recovery move over Rest. Wil-O-Wisp weakens physical attackers and lets this specially defensive variant fare better against physical attacks. Although Dusclops can’t hit as hard, Shadow Ball with burn will quickly wear down opponents. Focus Punch can catch Houndoom switch ins, and gives you a nice option against Blissey and Snorlax. This set is a premier SubGengar counter that lacks Shadow Ball. CMClops Item: Leftovers Nature: Bold Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, 210 Def, and 44 Speed Moveset: Calm Mind Ice Beam Pain Split Wil-O-Wisp * A great and surprising check to Salamence expecting a Wil-O-Wisp. Calm Mind up and make up for the lack of Sdef Evs, then start Ice Beaming. A good novelty set but its best to stick with the first set as this one will be easily exploited once your opponent finds out your only attack is Ice Beam. Others: Rest can be used over Pain Split if you fear status.
Counters: Arcanine (Special), Houndoom, Kangaskhan (switch in on Shadow Ball, Substitute on W-o-W; Seismic Toss shouldn’t break Kanga’s Sub), Scizor (Substitute), and Skarmory (can set up and take minimal damage). Guts users: Heracross, Machamp, and Ursaring can switch in on W-o-W, and beat it down with Rock Slide or Earthquake. Substitute can make short work of Dusclops. Espeon A former top tier threat in UU but now residing in the lowest depths of OU. Take a look at that amazing Speed and Satk, and you wonder why its not a more common sight; lack of strong special attacks in its arsenal really holds Espeon back. Builds:
CMSweep Item: Leftovers Nature: Timid Ivs and Evs: 252 Satk and Speed Moveset: Psychic Calm Mind HP ~/Bite Substitute * The lack of special attacks to choose from and nerf in power of HP really lets Espeon down. Nonetheless, Espeon’s high 130 Satk and powerful stab Psychic lets it do serious damage. Calm Mind along with Substitute lets Espeon set up on special attackers and potentially lets it beat out Blissey’s without Seismic Toss. Most special Hidden Powers can work for Espeon as it doesn’t have any other options; Fire is preferred to hit steel types that resists Psychic, but Water lets it catch weakened Houndooms. Bite is only if you can’t get a good HP and even then Baton Pass is better in that slot. EspyJump lol Item: Leftovers Nature: Timid Ivs and Evs: Hit 168 Speed (outspeeds +Nature 100 speed tier), 252 Hp, rest in Sdef Moveset: Psychic/Light Screen/Wish Calm Mind Substitute: Baton Pass * Despite its amazing Speed and sky high Satk, Espeon doesn’t have to function as a sweeper. Baton Passing Calm Mind boosts and Substitutes to another special sweeper lets Espeon function as a great support Pokemon. Psychic is a strong stab and is preferred for situations where Espeon has to finish off weakened foes. Light Screen raises Espeon’s already amazing Sdef while making it a full fledge support poke. Wish can let Espeon repeatedly support itself and fellow team mates. Others: Dual Screen support
Counters: Blissey (Seismic Toss), Claydol, Dusclops, Houndoom, Scizor, Skarmory (Sdef variant), Slowking (Curse but special set can also beat Espeon’s first set), Snorlax, and Umbreon. Exeggutor Used to be so over used in those 4v4 days but usage dropped over time. Still pretty strong and fast in the sun. Builds:
SunSweep Item: Lum berry Nature: Modest/Rash Ivs and Evs: Make sure to hit at least 101 Speed. 252 Satk and Speed Moveset: Sunny Day Solar Beam Psychic/HP Fire Sleep Powder/Explosion * Set up sun to activate Chlorophyll and a 1 turn Solar Beam. Psychic is a power Stab but doesn’t provide as much coverage as HP Fire. Sleep Powder can let you sleep its counters while Explosion lets you eliminate Snorlax and Blissey. Use a Rash nature if using Explosion for more damage output. BulkyEggs Item: Leftovers Nature: Bold Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp and Def Moveset: Leech Seed Sleep Powder Ingrain/Synthesis/Protect Giga Drain/Psychic/Toxic *Leech Seed whatever pokemon comes in. Try sleeping your threats and stalling out their health. Ingrain adds up with Leech Seed recovery but Synthesis provides instant recovery. Protect works well with Leech Seed and Toxic and also lets you scout for dangerous moves. Giga Drain can add to Leech Seed recovery but generally Psychic or Toxic is better on a stall set as Giga Drain has low pp. Others: Light Screen and Reflect can be used to buff your whole team.
Counters: Arcanine, Houndoom, Scizor, Snorlax, Skarmory, Blissey, and Umbreon. Houndoom resists both Exeggutor’s stab and has immunity to HP Fire AND can Pursuit trap it. Gengar The malevolent terror hidden deep in the shadows. The unpredictable menace haunting the night. Gengar has one of the most versatile sets and can be used for so many different roles. Builds:
SubPunch Item: Leftovers Nature: Hasty/Naive Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk, hit 168 Speed or max, rest in Satk. Run 252 speed if using Psychic or Shadow Ball to beat other Gengars. Moveset: Substitute Focus Punch Thunderbolt Ice Punch/Psychic/Shadow Ball/Sludge Bomb *Dangerous behind a Sub. Focus Punch nails Blisseys and Snorlaxs that switch in. If an Umbreon switches in while you have a Sub its best to just switch out instead of Focus Punch or you’ll be pursuit trapped. Thunderbolt lets Gengar hit many walls that would otherwise tank Focus Punch. HP Ice would be optimal but hard to get; provides amazing coverage with tbolt. Psychic is a decent option for other Gengars, and fighting types. Shadow Ball is a strong stab that unresisted with Focus Punch. Sludge Bomb paired with Focus Punch will put a serious dent in Blissey and Snorlax. Special Attacker Item: Leftovers/Lum berry Nature: Timid Ivs and Evs: 252 Satk and Speed Moveset: Thunderbolt, Ice Punch Giga Drain/Wil-O-Wisp/Hypnosis Fire Punch/Destiny Bond/Psychic *Gengar’s high Satk will put a dent in everything besides specifically specially defensive walls. Run 2-3 attacking moves and a status move. W-o-W and Hypnosis will cripple anything it hits. Destiny Bond lets you take out powerful threats when you feel like Gengar has done its job. Disabler Item: Leftovers Nature: Hasty Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and Speed Moveset: Substitute Disable Focus Punch/Sludge Bomb Shadow Ball/Thunderbolt/Wil-O-Wisp * Substitute on the first turn and let the opponent attack you. Disable their move and laugh as it falls helpless to Gengar (Ex. Gengar uses Substitute, Snorlax uses Shadow Ball, Gengar uses Disable, Snorlax: 0_o''). Focus Punch hits helpless Snorlax and Blisseys pretty hard while Shadow Ball rounds off coverage. Sludge Bomb is another option for poison chance and decent damage. Thunderbolt hits Skarmory which would otherwise laugh at this set. W-o-W for status as most likely your opponent will swap out after seeing their move Disabled. PainInTheAss Item: Leftovers Nature: Timid/Jolly Ivs and Evs: 252 Hp, 76 Def, 180 Speed Moveset: Knock Off Substitute/Thunderbolt/Sludge Bomb Pain Split Wil-O-Wisp * A solid check to those pesky Choice Banders and Marowak. Come in and Knock Off/Wil-O-Wisp everything you can. Then Pain Split your health back up. Substitute can help ease the use of Pain Split by safely letting your Hp get low. Thunderbolt/Sludge Bomb lets you actually do damage. Sludge Bomb is the preferred choice letting you actually hurt Blissey/Snorlax Others: Mean Look+Perish Trap
Counters: Blissey, Snorlax, Umbreon, Dusclops, Exeggutor and Steelix (To some extent), and Claydol. Gengar is hard to directly counter but Intimidating it then switching to a special wall makes it a lot easier to beat. Houndoom and Umbreon can Pursuit trap Gengar but both have to watch out for Focus Punch. Gyarados Appearances do not deceive in this case; Gyarados is definitely something to watch out for. It can come in very easily and set up with Dragon Dance Builds:
Physical Sweeper: Item: Lum berry/Leftovers Nature:Adamant/Jolly Ivs and Evs: Jolly should hit a speed of 134 to outspeed 200 speed tier after a dragon dance. Max out attack and stick the rest in Hp. Adamant should hit a speed of 127 to out speed alakazam after dragon dance. Max attack and rest can go into hp. Movesets: Dragon Dance Earthquake Hp flying/Bounce/Hp ghost/Return/Double-edge Taunt/Surf * Simple strategy, switch in on pokes that can’t really do much to it, such as water/grass/fire types, and go for a Dragon Dance sweep. Taunt is to stop status and being wish/spikes/status/phazer, while surf can actually do damage to Gyarados biggest counters. Magneton is a great pair seeing as it can easily eliminate Skarmory. Special Sweeper Item: Lum berry/Leftovers Nature:Modest/Rash Ivs and Evs: 252 Satk and 252 Speed Moveset Surf/Hydro Thunderbolt/Thunder Icebeam Taunt/Hp flying * This gyarados is merely for surprise and will catch lots of players of guard. Players will bring in their physical walls, while now gyarados has the upperhand on them. Surf/Hydro Pump rails Donphan/Aerodactyl/Maorwak and dents Claydol/Weezing. Thunderbolt still gets Vaporeon, but now hits Skarmory/Starmie switches in for a lot more damage. Icebeam is for Salamence that think they can take down this beast with Rock Slides. Taunt can stop the wish support and spikes, while hp flying stills hurts those fighting types.
Counters: Depending on the set, Skarmory, Weezing, Aerodactyl, Donphan, Claydol, Starmie, and Porygon2 can usually beat Gyarados. Skarm/Weezing/Dophan/Claydol can beat the physical variants, while Starmie and Porygon2 can survive the hit and retaliate with Thunderbolt. (Credit to KingBowser) Heracross The bug that clearly lifts. Sporting a huge 125 base Atk and an equally impressive 120 power stab Megahorn. Heracross is a wrecking ball that can that can demolish teams. Builds:
ReversalSwag Ability: Swarm Item: Salac berry Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: Speed must hit 134 to hit 201 after salac. 252 Atk and Speed Moveset: Endure/Substitute Reversal Megahorn Swords Dance * Endure is generally better for Heracross since a lot of pokemons can outspeed it can kill it or lower its Hp enough so it can’t set a Sub, but Substitute can be used for blocking status which otherwise can ruin this set. Reversal at 1 Hp with stab hits 300 power so it’ll dent even things that resist it. Megahorn at low Hp activates Swarm to boost its already high power. Swords Dance can be used to power up Heracross’s Atk when your opponent switches or tries to predict your endure. Rock Slide isn’t needed as super effective Rock Slide does the same damage as resisted Reversal. mesohorny Ability: Guts Item: Leftovers/Salac berry Nature: Adamant/Jolly Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and Speed. Moveset: Facade/Swords Dance Megahorn Brick Break Rock Slide * A pretty hard hitting Heracross that doesn’t have to drop its Hp low to hit hard. Switching in on Toxic or Wil-o-Wisp would strike fear into your opponents heart. Leftovers can minimize the status damage while Salac can activate near death to give you a last ditch effort to beat the opponent. Guts boosted Facade will 2hko Weezing. Megahorn is Heracross’s strongest stab. Brick Break and Rock Slide are great coverage move. Swords Dance can go over Facade and still sweep Weezing. Others: RestTalk is decent to absorb status and activate Guts.
Counters: Crobat, Gyarados, Salamence, Skarmory, and Weezing. Dugtrio can come in for the revenge kill with Aerial Ace but loses to the Reversal set. Houndoom Houndoom is capable of filling an often pivotal role: Pursuit-trapping the spinblocker Gengar. Its ability to remove Gengar is especially significant, as it allows for the likes of Forretress and Cloyster to successfully Rapid Spin with greater ease. Builds:
Trap God Ability: Flash Fire Item: Lum berry/Salac berry Nature: Timid/Modest Ivs and Evs: 252 Speed and 252 Satk Moveset Pursuit Overheat/Flamethrower/Fireblast Crunch Wil-O-Wisp/Hp Ice * The main purpose houndoom is to trap Gengar/Dusclop/Alakazam and get an easy KO. Try to bring in Houndoom safely on those three since they all can pack Focus Punch. Houndoom is great at revenge killing when the opponents lack Substitute. Hp Ice lets it one shot salamence, while W-O-W burns Snorlax switches in. Overheat has the strongest damage output but Flamethrower has accuracy and no drawback, while fireblast does more damage but lacks accuracy. Mixed Doom Ability: Flash Fire Item: Salac berry Nature: Lonely/Hasty Ivs and Evs: Hit 134 Speed, 252 Atk evs, and rest on Satk. If using Substitute make sure your Hp is divisible by 4 with a remainder of 1. Moveset: Substitute/Endure Reversal Fireblast/Flamethrower Pursuit/Crunch/Howl * Blissey or Snorlax comes in? SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKA. Substitute or Endure down to 1 Hp, and let Reversal rip. Flamethrower/Fireblast provides a strong stab to dent physical walls that try to stop the Reversal. Pursuit lets Houndoom still trap pokemons but Crunch is much stronger as this set doesn’t have as much Satk as the first set. Howl lets you boost Reversal even stronger. Others: Beat Up can do a little under half damage to Blissey and Snorlax.
Counters: Vaporeon, Snorlax, and Blissey. Faster pokemons like Aerodactyl can come in safely and Ohko by targeting its weak def. Dugtrio can trap, outspeed, then kill with Earthquake. Jolteon The third pokemon of the 200 speed trio. He’s fast, he’s strong, and he unleashes lightning. A strong special sweeper that can keep the momentum for your team by passing Substitutes. Builds:
Item: Lum berry/Leftovers Nature: Timid Ivs and Evs: 252 Satk and Speed. 31* Speed Iv. Moveset: Thunderbolt Substitute Baton Pass HP Ice/Grass/Water/Bite * Jolteon is great at baton passing substitutes with its blazing speed. Set up a Sub on the opponents switch and pass it off accordingly. Thunderbolt is the obvious stab; Thunder may be used in a rain team. HP Ice lets gives you pseudo-boltbeam coverage, and HP Grass hits Lanturn, Quagsire, and rock types harder. Bite is for the poor who can’t afford a good HP. Others: Not much
Counters: Blissey, Snorlax, Lanturn, Venusaur, Claydol, Dusclops, Exeggutor, and Umbreon. Ground types can switch in on predicted Thunderbolts and kill with Earthquake. Dugtrio can trap Jolteon if it lacks a good HP. Jynx This mofo glass cannon and its weak ass defense. Nicki Minaj can put the hurt on teams by sleeping its counters and setting up for the sweep. Just don’t let it get Tackled by Pidgey or it’ll die. Builds:
Sweeper Item: Lum berry Nature: Timid Ivs and Evs: 252 Satk and Speed Moveset: Ice Beam Lovely Kiss Calm Mind/Fake Tears Psychic/Substitute * Lovely Kiss the opponents check and either set up with Calm Mind or drop their Sdef by two stages with Fake Tears. Fake Tears can let you put massive dents in Blissey and Snorlax; this works best in unison with Spikes as the opponent has to risk damage to activate Blissey’s Natural Cure. Psychic is a better move against Thick Fat Snorlax but Substitute blocks out status and can let Jynx escape Pursuit trappers. Others: Mean Look and Perish Song can trap Blissey; you can stall out the turns with Protect or Substitute then switch out last second.
Counters: Arcanine, Blissey, Dusclops, Houndoom, Lapras, Scizor, Slowbro, Slowking, Snorlax, Umbreon, and Vaporeon. Dugtrio can revenge kill. Kangaskhan The mother that kills. Boasting an insanely strong stab Double Edge makes Kangaskhan a top tier threat. Access to amazing coverage moves lets Kangaskhan hit every pokemon for fairly nice damage. Builds:
Bulky Kanga Item: Leftovers Nature: Adamant Ivs and Evs: Hit 204 Hp (201 Hp if no Sub is fine), max out Attack, and hit at least 110~ speed to outspeed many threats. Moveset: Double Edge/Return Shadow Ball Fake Out/Rest Earthquake/Focus Punch/Rock Slide/Substitute * Double Edge is the preferred option over Return as the massive damage is worth the recoil. Shadow Ball is needed to hit ghost types. Keep in mind Double Edge does more than super effective Shadow Ball. Fake Out is a great priority move and gets you a little extra damage. Rest gives Kanga a lot more longevity due to Early Bird. The last slot is for coverage moves or the ever useful Substitute. Kanga’s massive Hp stat lets him create 51 Hp Sub which can’t be broken with Seismic Toss. Item: Choice Band Nature: Adamant/Jolly Ivs and Evs: 252 Atk and Speed Moveset: Double Edge/Return Shadow Ball Earthquake Focus Punch/Fake Out
Counters: The best counter to Kangaskhan is Skarmory. Skarmory takes little damage from even Focus Punch. Weezing is a decent check although not as reliable since it takes massive damage from Double Edge and Substitute blocks W-o-W. Bringing in an Intimidator on the Fake Out is a great option to take little damage and weaken Kanga. Forretress, Steelix, Rhydon, and Scizor can generally beat Kanga.
