    Things to cherish

You were the kid in school who went up to others playing and told them they would die in the end anyway, weren't you?
  10. y so srs? Look, it's not my favourite movement by far. I doubt anyone is afraid of them but some of their points should be taken seriously. Maybe they don't employ the most effective methods, but that is no reason to hate them, or to call them autistic love childs of JB and Rebecca Black. If you have never seen them come up with a structured alternative that can be applied on a wide scale is because a. You haven't researched or looked up these movements: The occupy movement, this movement and many others have a detailed list of things they are advocating for, if you haven't been interested enough to research this, then it's your loss. You won't find them reported in the regular media for it's a way of delegitimising the movement. b. You don't know how social movements and/or revolutions work and have been executed in the past. You do realise no major political change has been completely fleshed out and thoroughly analysed before being implemented right? Whenever there has been a revolution or a sociopolitical movement that succeded, they improvised legislation and structures based on the principles they fought on, not beforehand. Not even Marxism was detailed enough to cover the whole scope that a government or a country has to cover. They go with what they have, they make changes as needed, because of the immense complexity of society. You can't just sit down one afternoon and design an alternative to the system, that doesn't mean you aren't being treated unfairly and you should have the right to protest about it. Furthermore, the burden of proof isn't on them, it's on the government. They have to prove there is no better system, otherwise we should and will try to change it for the better. You're Canadian right? For all Mericans out there, you can get a constitutional ammendment to get money out of politics. That should help. It's being pushed through state reps, just like Dahaka wants, so there you go, get interested: http://www.wolf-pac.com/

    Things to cherish

What do I cherish? I cherish many things. I cherish my knowledge, my family and memories. I cherish what I am. But I also cherish the world I live in, the opportunities others give me, I cherish a sunset, I cherish a waterfall, I cherish my country and my friends. I cherish reality, and our ability to alter it! I cherish life!
  13. We have seen many examples of how bad self-regulating business end up as. No government intervention leads to maximization of short-term profit in detriment of workers and consumers, alliances between companies to up the prices and other malpractices which companies defend earnestly. Big businesses are successful because firstly they are never held accountable for their mistakes. Why weren't the big businesses allowed to collapse just like so many small businesses did? Why did we rescue them? Surely you were against that idea. They also eat up small businesses. Big business can afford to stay open for longer, have lower prices ect than smaller ones because they can outsource, moving all the jobs abroad where wages are lower. Small ones can't, and are forced to close. They also have the leverage to undermine unions and other groups that defend the worker. The government is supposed to introduce balances to even the playing field. Did you know small businesses proving the large majority of jobs in countries? And although meritocracy had a larger change of working in the golden 60's, where people rode the wave of prosperity and government subsidies, claiming it was their own effort that got them there, it is no longer the case. Would your grandparents have been able to escape the massive student debt after going to college nowadays, when 50 years ago it was incredibly cheaper to do so? Just as an example. In short, I don't believe this applies any longer. Higher education is ludicrously expensive. Most people in these protest never had a chance like your parents or grandparents did, and it's unfair to say that the same rules still apply nowadays as 50-60 years ago.
  14. I would like to convince you, but it's hard to stay positive and unagressive when what people here are doing is essentially shitting on a few others they don't know for assumptions they are making about them. It's not my movement, I defend it because they are not here to do so, and although I apologise for my lashing (and the fegots was sort of uncalled for), I believe I'm not being the most unreasonable one here. I'm not "saving the world", I'm trying to help change it. I'm a very pragmatic person, but the determinism you guys are throwing around is irking me. Doing nothing is what actually does nothing, and although not every movement is perfect (or even close to being so), they shouldn't be criticised for the reasons I've seen so far. You could argue the lack of effectiveness of putting memes on cardboard, with points to back it up. If all you're saying is "I don't like it so it sucks!" it really doesn't add to the conversation, and just serves to derail the whole thing.
  15. I get the feeling you guys have never been to any sort of march/demonstration, nor organised one. Thus you have no idea that marches can achieve something more than what they are directly asking for. Marches serve multiple purposes you know? They are not only about passing legislation, although that is the ultimate goal. Saying they have achieved nothing just because the results aren't immediately apparent or the end goal isn't met straight away just shows your lack of understanding of these events. I never said that. Big straw man in the middle of the animal farm. I called you naive IF you believe the system we are in is totally meritocratic, which is a valid point to make. So back to OS's point, I do believe these are accomplishing something. Whether it's awareness, sense of unity, proof of the unstability of the system and disfranchisement of the general public with the governing class. Confirming the widespread unhappiness of the voters. Maybe we get no legislation passed, but just because it's unlikely does that mean we shouldn't do it? Look, we have to build it from the bottom up. We can't start the house from the roof, so although the end goal is yet to be achieved, I seriously doubt that because there's no apparent change, that means there is no change at all. Would that have made the Occupy movement useless in your eyes? You never argue. You have never argued. You have never made any points whatsoever. Go back through the thread and find me one post you made which can be considered an argument. You are the joke. You feel edgy by posting coolio pics you find on the internet and sneezing on everyone's posts. You hide behind hate to cover your autism.
  16. You always made the best arguments. Why would you read anything related to the BBC? Lol. You went to school and put in effort. That tells you nothing about the effort of others. You are making unbased assumptions based on stereotypes thrown around by the media. The minimum wage jobs are still going to be there even if you're not the one suffering in it. It still means somebody has to, and usually it's not because they couldn't be bothered to get anything better, and you now this. If you don't know this, you're naive and must love the shit the establishment feeds you. The reason for the masks and mememes is almost certainly for attention, not unlike many other attention grabbing techniques used in most movements.
  17. Standard response number 2. Look, just because you are doing nothing it doesn't automatically imply that anything somebody else is doing accomplishes the same result. You can be as cynical as you want, but keep it to yourself, just as you complain these people should keep it to themselves. Apply your own logic. On top of that, every social and political movement has been met with exactly the same criticism, so history doesn't support your position mate. You must despise religion then. They think they are part of a magic club that God favours above everyone else. You must HATE them so much. And good luck making money with a shite salary with no prospect of improving.
  18. I was gyarados and bibarel amirite? I don't know my third yet though. Also can anyone explain me what's so awesome about the ending?
  19. So you're saying half your country is protesting? I wish. Also I'm not sure if that's meant to be an insult...
