    How do I install this UI mod?

    Edit:
    Figured it out.

    1. Put the files in PokeMMO\data\themes\ (inside it's own folder)
    2. Launch PokeMMO and go to settings -> interface -> theme and change the theme there.

    Been playing through from the start in Kanto again, and have reached Vermilion City so far.
    One thing I've noticed is how insanely often the AI trainers will swap their pokémon.
    It makes the experience annoying and tedious at times, and makes it hard to raise weaker pokemon.

    A common tactic is to put your weaker pokémon in the front of the team, then swap out immediately so it will get XP.
    But since trainers swap so much, they'll often swap right after you do, resulting in your weaker pokémon not receiving any XP despite being the first one out in the fight.

    It's so bad that I've had AI trainers literally swap-lock themselves (making it seem more like a bug than a feature):

    The suggestion:
    Make regular trainers prioritize using the Pokémon they have on the field until it's fainted. Make it so only higher tier trainers employ swapping tactics.


    Reasoning:

    - Lore-wise, you are fighting a lot of inexperienced trainers on your journey, who shouldn't know how to efficiently swap. Only special trainers should have that kind of knowledge (like in gyms / victory road / E4 / etc).

    - swap-spamming makes battles less fun, and makes it hard to raise a weak pokémon.
    - it gets annoying.
    - it sometimes gets straight up glitchy.
    - it can get unfriendly toward people who haven't played much Pokémon before, since it makes even early-game AI much more knowledgeable than they should be.

    I have a Clefairy with the moves:

    Copycat
    Metronome
    Rest
    Sleep Talk

     

    (i know, not a good set but it's just for fun 🙂)

    The problem tho, is that when I use Sleep Talk, it will ONLY try to use rest.
    I have tried it 20 times in a row, and it has only ever tried to use rest again.

    Is this a bug?
    or can Metronome and Copycat not be selected by Sleep Talk?

    I suggest to be able to instantly release a pokémon directly after catching it and it goes into the PC.

     

    currently, after catching a pokémon, it's stat window pops up so we can check the IVs among other stuff.. But we can't release it, even though it was sent to the PC storage. Being able to instantly release pokémon we don't want would spare us a lot of time sorting the PC storage and releasing all the crappy pokémon we previously caught.

    Unless something changed in ORAS, it has never been possible to pick the box that the Pokemon goes to after capture.

     

    On the contrary.. hasn't it always been possible? You don't pick the box each individual pokémon goes into after catching, but you choose the active box from the PC system, which all captured pokémon automatically goes into. That way you could, for example, switch to box 5, go on a safari zone hunt, and have all safari zone catches end up in box 5.

     

    I find it very hard to sort my pokémon in the pokemmo PC system, because:

    1. I can't name the boxes (afaik).
    2. Boxes are too big (I'd rather have twice as many boxes with 30 slots each)
    3. No ability to select multiple pokémon.
    4. And as OP said, all captures always end up in box 1.

    This actually caused me to create a new character once because I couldn't be arsed to go through, sort, and/or release over 200 captured pokémon.

    I don't have any screenshot proof because I was not aware of swarms until I read this topic, but...

     

    A few hours ago while EV training in the patch of grass north of the Rock Tunnel pokécenter (the center near the power plant), I randomly started encounter lots of Haunters at around level 16-17.

    According to this page haunter shouldn't normally appear there, so it migt have been a swarm. Because haunter went from never appearing, to appearing almost every time, and then suddenly stopped appearing. (I was there for over an hour spamming that grass)

    The original math does not work IMHO.

     

    I do not see where it factors in the fact that the Chansey will usually RUN AWAY FROM BAIT!

     

    So if you lead with a bait, you will usually get NO chance to throw a ball, have to wait about 25 encounters to see another Chancey.  Let's say Chancey eats the bait 1 out of 3 times, now you are going to need 75 pokemon encounters for 3 Chancey encounters to even get to throwing out a ball.  Note, I don't know what the odds are of Chancey fleeing after you throw bait with your initial move, but I've been doing this a few hours now throwing balls, rocks, and then shifting to bait after reading this thread, and Chancey has fled after I threw bait every time so far.  

     

    Anyway, if you lead with a ball, you at least guarantee one ball, no matter what happens.  Even if that ball has half the odds of catching Chancey as a ball after throwing bait, it would STILL be better to lead with the ball.  However, we actually know the ball alone has twice the catch rate as the ball after bait.

     

    Without doing the math, I cannot see how the "flee from the first bait thrown" issue, if factored into the equation, will not lead to the conclusion that all-ball is the better way to go.  Unless you are going to tell me that Chancey only flees from the ball, like, 1/4th of the time or something really low like that, in which case I have to say, WTF is wrong with my game that he keeps fleeing the damn bait!!

    I programmed a simulator which uses OPs calculated % chances a few years back, which proved that spamming balls is more efficient.

    However, the OP of this topic raped my topic to a point where I had to ask a moderator to lock it, and it's now been removed.

     

    Edit: Here's a simulation of 10000 pokemon encounters using OP's calculations (the simulator escapes if you don't meet chansey):

    And here's 1000000 (one million) chancey only encounters:

    As you see, bait-ball has a slightly better chance on average (only 0.2% in the 1mil simulation) to catch chansey.

    But you'll spend much more time on each attempt with bait-ball, which makes ball spamming a bit more efficient (and less annoying since you always get a chance to catch it).

     

    Bottom line: Use the method that feels best because they've got pretty much the same odds on average... Just never throw a rock, and never throw bait when it's already eating.

    I recently got a new laptop with crazy high resolution. Pokemmo seems to handle different sized resolutions by making the game view (how far the player can see) fit the resolution.

    So this is what Celadon city looks like on my screen x)

     

    The display resolution settings in pokemmo only resizes the game window.. unless I turn on full screen mode, but that makes it harder to multitask with other windows. Edit: Seems like I actually gotta change my desktop resolution or pokemmo uses my max screen res in full screen regardless of settings

     

    My suggestion is a game setting that lets us scale the game by x%.

     

    I do some indie development myself, and this method works quite well:

    (as an example let's say I've set scaling to 200%, and my resolution is 2160 x 1440)

     

    • render the game to an image which is 1/2 the size of the game window. (50% of 2160x1440 which is 1080x720)
    • now render that image to the game window at 200% size.
    • Result: the game elements will double in size without altering the screen resolution.

     

    Depending on how pokemmo currently handles rendering to the game window, this could either be very easy or tedious to implement.

    Like, if pokemmo renders directly to the window it might be a pain, but if it's already rendering to another surface first (which is common since it's easier to add after effects), then these scaling calculations would simply need to be applied to that surface according to the player's settings.

    some stats (something like 20h of farming cumulated)

     

    pokemon seen : 3888 (i work around 48 poke per run - I did an average on a sample of 10 runs)
    chansey seen : 152
    chansey caught : 18

    1 egg

     1 shiny rhyhorn : he "fled from battle" at the first bait ! KDLPDOZFEKLMFLMKZPO (keyboard stomp)

     

    so... my chansey encounter rate is actualy (152x100)/3888 : ~~3.9%

    i use the cleanse tag on a lvl 26 pokemon... seems like it doenst work ! i see less low lvls, im sure, but chansey rate isnt afected in my tests... need moar stats guys !

     

    stats seems low to make a descent catch rate, but actualy its 11,8% (18x100)/152

    strategy ? bait-ball-ball.... etc.... until she watch carefuly ---> bait again .....

  11. I think OP explains the math behind it quite well. Sure, there's a lot of text, but it's not very hard to understand.

    [*]Go to settings
    [*]Increase Text Speed to max
    [*]Set FPS limit to 999
    [*]Remove game UI (F12 key by default)
    [*]Change to an underpopulated channel
    [/list]
    This way, you will get maximum FPS that your computer can handle, so all text will scroll a lot faster, which means you have to spend less time waiting when you encounter a pokémon. Just hold Z to get past any text as fast as possible.

    Less wasted time = More chanseys in less time.
