Your donations wouldn't be wiped in any case, and 2. There won't be a wipe.

It's not practical to reward an entire team of potentially 100 players, but also unfair on non-battling team members who help with preparation etc. to just reward the battlers. So yes, the glory is a nice fitting reward.
