Gas prices are lower in and around my town than they've been in years. I saw it as low as 3.12 this morning, and there was nowhere lower than 3.95 just a week ago. I don't know if this is a result of the shut down or not, but if it is, that's just one more reason for me to love it.

Not sure if you realize this or not, but it is possible to share one's own preferences without saying that someone else's are "god awful."

Has anyone else noticed that the only people "suffering" from the government shutdown are overpaid government officials who do jobs that are ultimately unnecessary? Oh dear, god forbid your six figure income gets cut... Military people are still getting paid and poor people are still living off of my buck last I checked. I feel entirely unaffected by the shutdown.

Pretty much what all my IRL arguments turn into. Ultimately, it will frustrate the other person into just giving up, and then I win (regardless of how right or wrong I am). Also, philosophers should quit sitting on their asses thinking all the time and get real jobs.

Most things that bite, sting (except honeybees), or are downright disgusting (like dung-buzzing flies or cockroaches) I squash with no remorse. I usually let moths live just because I find them to be beautiful. Spiders I never kill. They eat all the bugs that I don't like, so I figure it best to let them live.

It's more like this: What do people enjoy to make them laugh? Your answer: I'm better than everyone else and therefore don't stoop to such low levels of comedy. My taste in comedy is so far above you that I won't even give an example of the funny literature I enjoy. Seriously chica, I get it. You think you are better than everyone because you listen to classical music and read books. Big deal. It would be nice if you would actually contribute to a conversation rather than playing holier than thou all the time. Example: I enjoy George Carlin's autobiography. It is quite possibly one of the funniest written works I've ever read.

I watch a bunch of late night Comedy Central and [adult swim] while I'm training my Pokemon. My favs are South Park, Daily Show, Colbert Report, Chapelle's Show, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Boondocks, Aqua Teen, and Bob's Burgers. You guys?

WTF I live in Michigan, Canada is a short drive away. I should figure out how to fit this into my schedule... Would it be worth calling in to work?

Sorry about that, I'm getting way off topic here. I'm sure the OP didn't intend to have an argument on hip-hop fundamentals here, but whatevs. And I don't hate Lil Wayne. He's kind of a hit or miss; while he does give back to the community, he is still a terrible role model. But he's actually talented. And I know that drugs have always been a part of hip-hop, but there are other things to rap about. Yes, Raekwon the Chef is awesome at cooking them rocks, but they're not the only thing he raps about. And to answer your question, hip-hop artists like Immortal Technique, Slug (from Atmosphere), and Aesop Rock have managed to completely avoid the degradation in mainstream rap in their own music. They also serve as positive role models for young hip-hop fans, not to mention that they all go back to help not only their own communities, but other suffering communities as well. Oh, and I say nigga on a regular basis. It's like a term of endearment among my friends. I only use the word nigger to point out blatant ignorance.
