  1. Chansey doesn't cover Charizard, fake tears jolteon, metal sound magneton, haunter, calm mind lum berry espeon, calm mind lum berry Alakazam, and Pokemon that can double as perish trappers like misdreavus, lapras, and Jynx.

I honestly don't know what people are looking for. These special attackers can all beat Chansey assuming Chansey switches in on them. It's like complaining that skarmory stops too many physical attackers and therefore it should be banned because it makes physical attackers "unviable".

I believe an unhealthy ban Pokemon needs to have a large impact on the meta for it to actually be a ban. Chansey doesn't fit on offensive teams as it kills momentum too much and some balanced teams don't run it either as porygon has a more efficient role on a balanced team being able to take on special attackers and gyarados..

Lol even swampert can 3hko skarm, and it has only rest

Chansey is another story, no ph wall can be compared to that

  2. Why not go max speed, to possibly beat Metas, Arcs, Venus?

Nice point bruh, cband doesn't need the bulk as much as sdance.

    That's what i'll do.

  3. Counter Chansey will give up other valuable move slots then. No toxic or thunder wave means you're extremely predictable. No protect throws out a ton of the arguments about Chansey taking on physical attackers.

Chansey still isn't the most used Pokemon and isn't even near the usage of snorlax or blissey. Special attackers still see usage as well.

Also +1 Charizard calcs are fairly unrealistic vs vaporeon, as sun will be gone by the time Charizard can sub down to 25%.

Ye, fair point, not everyone runs chansey, but we'd have to see what those sp attackers are used with.

I mean, how many people use dugtrio with those sp attackers?

Also looking at the usage thing, it seems even worse than what i figured:

There are only 3 sp attackers with a relevant usage rate, and 1 of them would be magneton which we all know what's being used for.

I suspect jolteon and especially starmie are really only used because of their support abilities though.

I mean, it's been months since i've seen a not bulky starmie around.

Jolteon has wish support and can play around chansey, but it's really only that and zard.

  4.

You don't need Crunch, I mean really, what are you going to hit?

    Choice Band

    Item: CB

    Ability: GUTS

    Nature: Adamant

EVs: 252 Attack and enough speed to beat Weezing, maybe go to 91 to beat Cloyster/Skarm too.

    • Return
    • Fire Punch
    • Earthquake
    • Superpower / Facade

    Ye, standard ev spread.

I already have superpower on mine since it's old, but what's the purpose?

wouldn't it make more sense to have tpunch for the occasional gyarados?

  5. Noone runs calm chansey afaik

    +1 252+ SpA Blaze Charizard Overheat vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Chansey in Sun: 375-442 (105 - 123.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    +1 252+ SpA Blaze Charizard Overheat vs. 4 HP / 252 SpD Chansey in Sun: 298-352 (91.4 - 107.9%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

    More accurate calcs

    I can't believe i forgot to lvl 50, thx.

    gotta update vapo too

  6. I know you say Cband set doesn't convince you but.. I feel it's actually pretty good. If you've not tried it, I think you should ;)

    No crunch so

tpunch, return, equake and...? (i know the obvious answer would be fire punch, but red shards are a pain).

  7. +1 252+ SpA Blaze Charizard Overheat vs. 252 HP / 0+ SpD Chansey in Sun: 654-769 (92.8 - 109.2%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

woah! ops lvl 100, thx forfie

    Endure sub petaya new meta

    +1 252+ SpA Charizard SolarBeam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Vaporeon: 208-246 (87.7 - 103.7%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

    where's your vapo now?

But yeh, setting up with zard can be tricky.

  8. K, i found this adamant ursa in box 6 and i want to make good use of it.

Problem is i already have 2 adamant sdance ursaring and i don't see the point in making a third one.

Cband doesn't convince me that much and bulk up looks more like an inferior sdance set.

    Any gimmick i could use?

  9. Its pretty silly to assume that someone is going to give charizard a free turn to come in, then set up, then switch to porygon or umbreon. Also I believe most special charizards run timid to get the jump on flygon and base 95s.

Assuming charizard sets up sun while porygon switches in, then porygon can just recover stall until sun runs out or fire blast runs out of pp, not to mention that fire blast can miss. Vaporeon can easily outstall with wish+protect. Slowbro can win if the charizard runs hidden power grass instead of solarbeam, as some don't want to be completely reliant on sun to take on pokemon like rhydon/slowbro/quagsire.

I don't really get how arcanine is destroyed by physical sets. Dragon dance and swords dance variants are non existent and lack power vs the whole meta. Belly drum charizard just dies to extreme speed from arcanine.

I don't really think special attackers are deadweight when chansey is on a team. Jolteon/espeon/magneton/charizard can all take down a chansey by themselves. If we really wanted special attackers to be viable, we would have to ban chansey and porygon2, then maybe venusaur and umbreon, depending on how the meta would work out. Special attackers just aren't that great with our current meta situation.

What would you run timid zard for? haunter? it can't touch flygon anyway unless hp ice.

Most times charizard doesn't need 2 turns, 1 is enough to become a threat.

Ph vapo can't protect stall. Calm pory could hang on until the sun is out, but it isn't the safest thing to do, especially when you're not actually stalling but slowly losing hp over time.

And why would you run hidden power grass on a sunny day set? hp grass doesn't have enough power anyway.

Mixed zard can scare away a lot of stuff and predict arcanine with swords dance, at that point it's a 2hko with quake counting intimidate, and at that point you become a huge offensive threat.

Doesn't even need to predict it, zard can take it down in 3 turns (1 for sdance and then 2 to ko it), while arcanine needs 4 turns with espeed.

Bdrum, if heavily def invested can live an espeed at 25%, risky but possible (assuming you max att, and give it enough speed for jolt at salac range).

My main problem with chansey is it can't just be worn down like you do with other sp walls.

A weakened gardevoir/porygon2 can be killed by a sp sweeper, but with chansey it's still unlikely to happen.

    .

  10. . Charizard has issues with arcanine, calm mind slowbro, aerodactyl, vaporeon, and porygon2.

If we're talking about special zard then vaporeon(ph variiant), porygon 2 and slowbro absolutely can't switch in.

    252+ SpA Charizard SolarBeam vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Slowbro: 158-188 (78.2 - 93%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

    252+ SpA Charizard Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Porygon2 in Sun: 112-133 (58.3 - 69.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

    252+ SpA Charizard SolarBeam vs. 248 HP / 36 SpD Vaporeon: 134-158 (56.7 - 66.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

That's how devastating sp zard used to be when gengar was around to punish chansey.

Even umbreon could be 2hko'd with blaze.

Ofc there are also some offensive pokemon well able to stop it (kingdra to begin with), but they lose to other sets: Arcanine is totally destroyed by any mixed or ph set, same for gyarados etc.

Not sure if sp kingdra worked a well as zard at the time, but why would anyone bother running the sp set with chansey around?

Ok, chansey isn't the only reason why sp sweepers are currently underpowered, but is has a great impact on that.

I won't say it's too good not to use or defensively uber because we all know it's not at this point, but let's acknowledge how sp sweepers are just dead weight if your opponent has that on his team.

  11. Elaborate? Is that = traps?

lmao, get a ph wall for kingler, that's what he meant.

Kingler is pretty devastating (so is cband swampert) being able to...3hko(?) even skarmory.

it can also run flail, so a good coverage against that would be vapo/slowbro + arcanino.

vapo has water absorb + wish passing abilities, so in a wall team i'd value that more than slowbro

Edit: it also has access to heal bell
