6. I mean, they open the right doors for you - assuming it's a good family - they lead you into your education and they help you within your life up until the moment where you can take care of yourself. Even then, they'll play a part in your life. Your family influences your likes, dislikes, and tastes.
7. Today something came up and I was wondering if family and friends play a big, influential part in your life/identity or not. So, do family and friends play an influential part in your life and identity?

14. "Love is like war: easy to begin but very hard to stop." ~ H.L. Mencken Well, this was it I guess. The moment the British had moved forward from their boats, we would start fire. Relentlessly, reluctantly, we mowed down our brothers. Not a single thought would pass our mind. Why did we kill these people? Hell, why are we at war with the Jacks? I'm just another bloody brainwashed adult sent to war. As the boats had approached the river bed, the sounds of the tides crashing against the countless pieces of barbwire and traps put down calmed our souls. More and more boats were approaching, it was either us or them. We had to do this. I sat sheltered in my bunker, holding the grip tight. A shiver had ran down my spine. I looked to my fellow comrade. He nodded back and handed me an ammo magazine. I whispered: 'Thank you, brother.' For all I know, this may be the last time I see him. My hands were trembling. My body froze. Flashes of memories and people ran across my mind. Hundreds of boats could be seen across the horizon, filled with dozens of people. They set foot. I closed my eyes and pressed the trigger, moving the stationed machine gun left and right. Bullets flew across my head, hitting the walls behind me. Dark green planes flew across with RAF symbols, dropping bombs on several bunkers. I know them, they were good people. They just fought for the wrong cause. I opened my eyes to see a dead body laying on my lap; the atmosphere of the battlefield had left me deafened and weak. His head was facing upwards and his hands in my chest, gripping my shirt. The British were advancing. The debris of bunkers had fell on the ground. It had left us vulnerable to gunfire. I let go of the gun. I held his hand tight with both of my hands, blood pouring out of his chest onto the floor. I opened his palm to see a picture of his newborn baby.. I-It was beautiful. She was beautiful.
15. My heart was pounding. Supersonic bullets demolished the wall behind me. I didn’t know what to do. The sound of the battlefield deafened me and left me clueless on the floor. The stench of the battlefield was awful. The morale of our comrades dropped until every man wanted to surrender however the loyal general Zhukov made his vow to Premier Stalin to eliminate every enemy or die trying. Both sides clashed as we pushed up and they fell back. A weak force they became after the battle for Stalingrad. We had outnumbered them but they had outwitted and out skilled us. Not a good balance. We had nowhere to go, if we retreated we would get killed by our own fellow men for cowardice or if we went up the hill we died in pure agony. It was now or never, every man ran up the hill (It was a colossal moment for our army) we ran over the rubble from the devastated buildings to get to the Reichstag. I was shot in the leg and I fell on the floor. My brother in arms dragged me to the moment where we pulled the flag up and we were victorious.
16. Diary entry: Keen. Date: 21/12/2024. *Entry: 1 "We are the reckless, we are the wild youth." It was a dark day, the streets were flooded with masses of deceased bodies; their stench of blood and decay was unbearable. Bits of the city were left in shadows, the streets were in chaos. The remains of cars and devastated buildings were there, left unattended. You could inaudibly hear many people screaming, many people fleeing, but these "things" weren't giving them a chance. These groans, these agonizing groans... oh, you wouldn't want to hear that. It was ridiculous, don't you think? I mean, look at us, we're a ragtag group. We had no chance of survival in this vicious world. Everyone of us were as thin as a stick. We barely had any equipment. We'd get torn apart before we had the chance to react. I seemed like the only person in here that could survive on their own. We were stranded in a little house... we had cleared it a few weeks ago. We needed to relocate immediately. We could hold out for a little longer; just a little, no more, no less. We needed food, we haven't eaten in quite a while. We had to scavenge houses and buildings nearby, it was already gone... as if another group passed by earlier. No, we're the only ones out here. I doubt we'll find anyone out there, no-one has lasted this long. It'd be a long time before we find someone else. I'm sure of it. These, zombies that is, are probably roaming around in search for us! We don't have anything to fight back with, we're just a sitting duck; we've just set camp and we're waiting for them to stroll by. We sat around the campfire - every single one of us reminiscing about the joys of the past days, when we weren't actually fighting for survival. Now we're here, fighting for our life, and we realize: would it hurt to, once in while, show a little appreciation for the things that we have? We had our palisades set up, it'll give us long enough... to, you know, realize darkness is near and run as far as we can. It didn't look great for us, we needed to leave. We needed to gather; resources, food, people, and all in all, a good to place to retreat to. We hadn't been attacked for the few weeks we've been living here, I doubt it'll-- oh, the irony. Huddling around the fire, when all of a sudden - zombies. We were being attacked, and another thing, this house has only one exit... What could we do? I had to do something. I clutched the sword near me and ran to the barrier - not even thinking about the dangers - I placed the blade on a zombie's shoulder and I drew it up, then swerved it at his face. That was one down... Oh, sorry, I forgot to introduce myself: I am Keen.

19. Hope, Courage, and Determination!
This was it I guess, the morning of which I will start my journey to become the best. The selfless, brave, and yet keen trainer that fights evil in the world of Pokémon. I know I'll gradually become stronger, fight harder, with hope, courage, and determination. At the same time, strengthening my bonds with my fellow Pokémon, making friends on the way, and also making enemies. As Nova had once said; "You can't make one thousand friends without making a few enemies." There'll always be the one person who despises my objective, the one in my way to stop me. A rival who'll do no matter what to stop me in my tracks. It wasn't an issue at all; I just had to have the willpower to do so. It was my destiny to go through with this. After all, you can't fight fate, huh? The clock tower struck seven o' clock and a thunderous bell rang; which could be heard from miles away. The sun shone bright. Kids cheerfully talking and playing in the playground. A rainbow was visible high above the skyline; I saw a fiery bird though I had no idea what it was... This was the day! The day I embark on my journey. I could do this! I know I can! As my energetic, vibrant, and excited body jumped up from my bed, I dashed around the room gathering clothes and my red, trustworthy, and small backpack, stuffing it with clothes, berries and writing utensils. It wasn’t until I had put on my clothes that I noticed a trail of drool on my face. The excitement had really made me careless and forgetful -- not to forget that I had broken my glasses by accidentally stepping on them. I made my way downstairs to see my mother gently stirring her tea at the table; with her head down, quietly mumbling to herself. Mother didn’t look normal, something was different with her. I approached her and she said; “Today’s a big day.” I could sense her reluctance to let me go. My mother loved me a lot; she cared for me in times of doubts and in times of joy. It’s going to be hard to live without her. She patted me on the shoulder and told me it will be alright. Everything’s going to be fine. Her words had inspired me a lot. It wouldn’t make me who I am today. I had left my house with haste. I ran over to professor Oak’s laboratory to collect my very own, first Pokémon. Panting, coughing, and out of breath, I had finally reached the professors’ lab. I opened the doors with the very last strength I had managed to use, from every muscle in my body, before I had collapsed. I had managed to wake up before anyone takes any of the available Pokémon – I was so lucky! I approached professor Oak’s aide and had asked for assistance on where professor Oak was. I was told he left to meet the trainers at the north side of the village to prepare them for the journey ahead – after all, patience is a virtue! I sat down near the poke-breeder; it seemed mysterious at the time. I had a lot of questions to ask but the professors seemed busy working with their fancy high-tech computers. After, patiently, waiting for an hour, professor Oak had returned. I ran over to him and I was speechless. I didn’t know what to say at the moment! Professor Oak went over to the table with the pokeballs and had beckoned me over there. Sat at the table were three small, red, and perfectly circular pokeballs, containing the three Kanto starters: Bulbasaur, the grass starter; Charmander, the fire starter; and Squirtle, the water starter. I was hesitating to which starter I shall pick, I liked them all! Though, I did want myself a fire-breathing flying Pokémon on which I could sit on top of. Flying with style! I went ahead and chose Charmander. I knew she had potential to be something so great, I could sense it. Her flame grew and she cried in glee. After she threw her head in my hands and signalled me to stroke her. Thereafter, I had left for Viridian city. It was... different from the other cities. Well, the most notable distinction would be the entrance to the elite four that Viridian has. Speaking of the elite four, I’ve always dreamt of being a champion. Being the trainer everyone looks up to for help and assistance. Before entering the wild grass to the north of Pallet, I heard a distant voice calling my name. I noticed that he had a Squirtle following him. I was nearing Viridian when a fairly short young man with blond hair ran up to me and greeted me. Ssin says; “Hey! I was calling you! I don’t think you noticed. But anyways, wanna be buddies?” Aziz replies enthusiastically; “Sure, and, sorry about that. My name’s Aziz, and yours?” Giggling under his breath, Ssin replies; “Ssin. The banned botter.” Aziz replies; “Pleasure to meet you... Though I do think we should make our way towards Pewter.” It’s always nice to have a companion! Although, the Squirtle did act in an unusual way. He wore a pair of sunglasses... After arriving in Viridian, Ssin had noticed a considerably large crowd gathering towards the eighth gym. Aziz was reluctant to go visit the crowd, though Ssin had managed to persuade him. After arriving at the gym, there stood two majestic men. Their names were Nait and Archinix; they were the paired gym leaders of the eighth gym. They were known all over the many regions for their number 1 hit single: “Like an Archinix.” A young boy chanted repeatedly: “Like a JWonginix!” and fainted thereafter. After that revolting experience, we decided to go to Pewter and stay there for the night. As we ventured deep into the Viridian forest, we encountered a group of Beedrill...
IGN: AzizFTW Have fun reading my story. It is exactly 1,000 words long.
