You can't delete characters, although you are able to make as many accounts as you want using the same email. You are also able to switch between regions so you don't need a new character to play a different region.

For starters, you are not forced to farm berries. We have the luxury of having multiple different methods for earning money, so if you dislike berry farming or don't have the time for it, there are many alternatives you could try. As far as reducing the growth time, I don't believe they should make something easier just because a few people dislike the current system. Berries have already gone down in value, if they reduce the growth time, it will just make berries even less valuable.

"Storyline matchup" refers to the first time you fight the elite 4, not the rematches. So it's intended.

Just create an alt and send your money to that account. No real use for an in-game bank.

Only the devs know what the shiny rate is, although it's safe to assume it's much lower than the base games. In my 1300 hours played I've been lucky enough to encounter 4 shinies, but there are some who have thousands of hours played without a single shiny.

There is no level limit for using Thief although if you kill the Pokémon you're using Thief on, you won't get the item.

Countless new players have complained about the difficulty of the Elite 4 and the prices of healing items, so it would make sense for this to only apply for a players first run through the game, since they may be unable to purchase the needed healing items with the limited amount of money they earned through the story. More experienced players, or players who are already on their 5th run of the Elite 4, should have more resources and easier ways to make money. This is just how I see it, I don't know their reasoning for the change.
