Strange thing on pvp

Hello everyone! I'm here to tell you about a very strange thing that happened to me the day before yesterday during a classified Pvp.
Basically I was up against a team where there was a conkeldurr who, apparently, was wearing a Choice scarf. Strange choice, I thought, certainly very rare.
The fight goes on until I somehow manage to corner him: I have a Gyarados and a Poygon2, he only has conkeldurr.
In the beginning it was my Porygon2 vs Conkeldurr, I switch to gyarados, he makes a prediction and hits him with thunderpunch. Gyarados dies, Conkeldurr returns to porygon2, who begins to be hit by thunderpunch. On the last turn, before I could give him the coup de grace, conkeldurr changes his move, gives me a close combat, kills porygon2 and loses his life percentage because, drum roll, he was wearing a Lifeorb that had never done damage to conkeldurr during all the thunderpunches he has previously thrown. I have the screens and the opponent's name to prove this, but I especially wanted to know if someone has already happened such a thing.

Hello, the same thing happened to me in a qualifying match, a pokemon (Ursaring I think) had lifesphere and I thought it was a chosen band since it did not take life. In the end because of this I lost the fight, although I found it curious. I don't know if it's a bug in the game but it's something strange.

That person was running Life Orb Sheer Force Conkeldurr. The 10% HP recoil from Life Orb is ignored if the move is affected by Sheer Force.

You are probably misremembering something here.
