Help creating a theme

Hi all, I've been trying my hand at creating new themes in my spare time after having been inspired by great themes like Archetype. Most of the process is fairly straight forward with my background in graphic design but there are a few things that I can't seem to solve. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could help or point me in the right direction. 

 

1. I'd love to make a background for the top left GUI (route, money, time, mail, lead ability, etc.) to increase legibility, but I'm not sure what I can change in the corresponding xml file. I know the names of the icons, where they get pulled from in the png file, and how to replace them, but I can't seem to add a background to the text.

2. My monster frame seems to have some sort of misaligned semi-transparent effect on the righthand side of the frame. Whether I delete the background image in the png file or replace, or extend the frame itself, nothing seems to get rid of this misalignment. I'll attach a screenshot below.

3. Lastly, I'm not a fan of the tabbed inventory frame, as it's the only menu that doesn't have a container surrounding the entirety of the contents. I've only seen Archetype manage to change this so this may be beyond a simple fix, but I figured I'd ask anyways. 

I'm sure I'll have more questions down the line but again, I appreciate your time and help. Thanks.

For all those matters you need to have at least some knowledge about programing in the code the themes are written (HTML I believe) 

If you know some themes are doing what you seek should try to reach them authors
