PokeMMO: New Player’s Guide for the year 2023


Welcome to the vibrant world of PokeMMO! As you embark on this new journey, you'll find familiar elements from your GBA and DS Pokemon games, but This isn't your old game anymore.

 

Getting Started:

The first few steps of the Pokemon MMO are an amazing journey that will take you down the path of nostalgia and frustration. Yes, Frustration. This is not the Pokemon games you remember, all the trainers AI have been coded to be difficult but still possible to beat. Do you remember how frustrating Cynthia was in Diamond and Pearl? That level of frustration.

Things to Remember:
1. Don’t accept random trades or battles: as this is an online interaction, there are some people who just want to ruin another’s fun. Unless you trust this person, don’t accept Pokemon from people at all.

2. Don’t worry about Money Making or EV training yet.

3. Fight every trainer. 

 

4. Complete the story for all 5 regions first. (This will give you easily 1million PokeDollars to work with for your gym rerun team)

 

5. Get a Moxie Pokemon Early.

 

6. There are only a few Legendaries in the game for fairness, and if you do catch one PvP mode is enabled and you must fight to keep it. Note: if you logoff or lose the fight, you lose the legendary. (Mewtwo, Ho-oh, Rayquaza, Keldeo and Arceus). The legendary dogs are in Johto as well but do not need to be fought to be kept.

 

For the most enjoyable experience: you need to remember that PokeMMO is a game first of all, and should be played for the enjoyment of the game. If you are getting frustrated, log out and take a break.

 

Now let’s go onto the major plot points of the guide.

For New Players:

1. Start in Unova.

 

2. Pick Tepig, you can get the other starters in the wild or off the gtl much later in the game. (Tepig has type advantage to 4 of the gym leaders)

 

3. Get a Sandile with Moxie ASAP. (A Moxie Krookadile will carry you to postgame easily)

 

4. Do not buy Pokemon off the GTL.

 

5. Only buy just enough Pokeballs to get you to the next area. (At the start I bought 30 as soon as I could afford it.)

 

6. Battle every trainer; nothing sucks more than Alpha hunting and losing the alpha chance by getting challenged to a battle by some trainer I missed before the first gym badge.

 

7. Keep your team balanced and leveled to the level cap for each gym badge. (Unova will give you 2 EXP. Shares.)

 

8. When you get to Castelia City you will talk to a scientist who asks you what Pokemon you chose in Straiton City, say that one.

 

9. Join the discord and get to know your Community Managers.

 

10. When you hit your 4th Gym badge you will have the option of restarting in another region. (Choose Squirtle for Kanto, Totodile for Johto, Mudkip for Hoenn, and Oshawatt for Sinnoh)
