I'm not sure how to catch legendries or how it works, can someone explain it to me please?

So I spent a while exploring the mistroltan cave looking for cobalion and never found it. When searched online it said that legendries dont exist in the game but that didn't seem right to me. This chat implies that they do indeed exist so I was just curious how I go about catching one?

Legendary mechanics in this game is different to original game. You cannot completely catch some legendaries in this game.

 

However, there are 5 roaming legendaries roaming in their own regions, and you can catch & own for a temporary time, and you will also accept any PVP battle requests (3v3 battle) to keep the ownership of those legendaries:
- Kanto : Mewtwo
- Johto : Lugia
- Hoenn : Rayquaza
- Sinnoh : Arceus
- Unova : Keldeo

 

You can catch Zekrom in Unova story run and can use it for 2 battles and then Zekrom will stay in your room, unused.

 

About Shaymin, it was available in Lunar New Year 2023 event and you can no longer catch for now, but you can buy one from Global Trade Link.

 

About Suicune, Raikou, and Entei, it can be found randomly in GRASS, OUTSIDE AREA (EXCEPT SAFARI ZONE) of Johto Area after you done Ho-oh battle (after 8th gym). Specially for Suicune, can also be found in water patches using surf.

 

The time to get the Legendary Beasts are : Suicune (August 2023) - Raikou (September 2023) - Entei (October 2023) - back to Suicune in November 2023, and so on.

 

You cannot catch other legendaries currently. However, you can get their "seen" dex from some story lines or later from Gym rebattles / E4 rebattles / Battle Tower battles.

I would like to add that shaymin is expected to be captureable again in the next Lunar New Year. I wouldn't spend money in GTL (and I would get one with my OT).
