Yeah, the VVVV and most other unofficial tournaments, the Spontaneous Showdown, the two this weekend, etc. Everything is becoming Uu quickly :(

can't we just leave the thread open? locking it up prior to signups proves to be a bad thing for some of us with slow internet connection/pc.

after refreshing the thread for it to be unlocked the list would've been complete already ;_;

pls ;_;

I agree with a few people on this thread. That "lock thread beforehand" is stupid. People need to learn to take 5 minutes to double check their time in comparison with the forum time that's IN THEIR PROFILE. People with slower internet or trying to go on their phones (like me because of class) shouldn't get punished because others are too lazy to do this.

The thread is still unlocked and able to be posted in at the exact time of registration. It's the simplest, fairest way to do registrations currently. No more "test" posts, no more uncertainty regarding forum time.

The thing is at the exact time of registration, we need to refresh first to unlock the post (since on our page its locked first). That initial refresh takes a while for people with slower computers or who need to do it on their phones. Sometimes even taking like half a minute to a minute depending on traffic. So what if people use "test" posts? You guys can delete/disregard those. If they're prior to the registration time

The problem was people complaining about forum post time being off. They were right to, there's no reason why they should have to do test posts because forum time is out of sync. The argument works both ways as well; why should we have to penalise users with faster internet because those with slower internet cannot refresh the page? Sifting through ~100 test posts is pointless when it can be avoided.

Currently we do not have a perfect method of registration. There's going to be tradeoffs with whichever method we choose to use until we have an entirely new system put in place (whatever that may be) and even then that may not be perfect.

But its so simple to take the time to click your name on the top right, click on settings, check the forum time and adjust your time to at least within the same minute of the forum time easily. I'll admit that knowledge isn't readily available, which is why people make test posts. But the question is why isn't it available then to prevent test posts? It could be in the op (under registration) , and everyone has the opportunity to read that. Then there shouldn't be a problem. It's the same as reading what the "banned pokes" are. It's pretty much the same as test posting too.

Edit: if i have to say anything else I can PM. I just saw Jeehad's post and strongly agree with it. "Test posts" can be ignored until the registration time, even if they are annoying. This method just discourages players with slower computers.

Signups last for 5, 10 or 15 minutes only. Thread is locked beforehand and afterwards. Everyone who signs up in the allotted time period is numbered, then any RNG will select the competitors for you. I personally think that this would be the fairest way for the future.

Most signups are over and done with in 2-3 minutes. Why would the thread need to be locked afterward?
Are you suggesting that everyone who signs up (regardless of post time) is chucked into a random number generator and that decides who participates? Doesn't sound great to me.
