Is this game still alive? I've been gone for like 3 years and I'm kinda lookin for something to play? Is there WAY too much going on now or is is still pretty tame and basic?

The game is still alive, there is much grinding but I think you'll be able to handle it. If you're into comp, then you should know that the physical/special split was implemented along with the Hoenn region. The next update is supposed to bring in the battle frontier and all it's goodness, welcome back to the community.
